I believe this is the best overall exotic out there right now. It has it all: performance, reliability and affordable repair and available parts, awesome looks, comfort and exclusivity.
You can say that again!
Look up how much a clutch replacement is lol
Reliability is still questionable because it has British electronics, affordable repair? Depends what part it is. Available parts? Again it depends what part it is, if it’s a Lotus made part sometimes they’re not available.
Engine yes but not brake systrm for latest model
The Evora is the spiritual successor to the first generation NSX. Mid engine, manual, v6, Japanese reliabilty, handling plus more!
Cant blame you for liking generic buttons, we dont want lotus wasting time and money on buttons, let them spend their time on what they do best.
but they're not toyota buttons wizard. no toyota has buttons that big for cruise control.
@@ncvwrx2759 Maybe they're from Daewoo, too? 🤔
Yes exactly
The only thing they do right is draw up the nice designs
FixDriveRideFly exactly
The radio is stock. Lotus doesn't bother spending the R&D on infotainment.
Lotus is owned by China's Geely now . Same like Volvo. Sooner or later, they will replace that engine with a Volvo unit i bet.
Just cheap shit
The newer evoras have apple and Android car play....
@Lassi Kinnunen Very few people actually have these navigation systems. Most infotainment doesn't actually have it; if they do, its often subpar and sometimes costs additional money to use. Aftermarket solutions are prohibitively expensive. So yeah most people just use their phones.
@@campkira the money is in the chassis and handling. It's a bonded aluminum extrusion chassis.
The wizard will steal Doug Demuro's job by outting every car on a lift.
Just The Wizards speaking voice is nice. Demuro drives me up a tree with his "delivery"
@@bmwloco you're in the minority then. It's like when I hate on Scotty Kilmer. I know I'm right, but everyone else seems to disagree. Bullshit right?
Nah, car wizard is too authentic to be a biter 😂
I hope that he keeps doing this amazing reviews mechanic focused and talking about cronic issues of the cars.
I laughed hard when he pretended to be Doug in the 07 Shelby GT video.
That Chrysler mechanic was just treating the cars with as much care as the Chrysler engineers did
"Welp, he put up with working for a dysfunctional corporation for several years to the point of driving himself mad, then one day, all the frustration and hopelessness built up and he didn't pay attention to what he was doing when he lifted a car improperly... and lost almost twenty years of work towards a pension... he died miserable and destitute. Moral of the story? Pay attention to jack points on exotics!" Car Wizard.
😂🤣
G Warren He just got senioritis.
@@gwpeoples True.. we are the only people who care about "us" no one else goes to work for me or gives the slightest care as to how my life is getting along. We have to take control of our own lives.

A back seat designed for Lt. Dan! Now that's "progressive styling"!
😂
It's my understanding that the back seat (if you can call it that) is only there to knock some $$$$ off your insurance premiums.
Mr and Mrs Wizard: you just know they are the sweetest people you could ever hope to meet.
Of course they are they are making bank off people they better be sweet
@@briannawilliams7370 ... Yea no, they just are good people who work hard and get rewarded by their customers. You can make money and be honest you know?
They seems so genuine. If I ever have car trouble in Wichita guess where I'm going!?
Wizard, I notice you service many exotics. Did you have a lot of exotic training/experience?
Brian Whatever you say LMAO! A lot of people work hard and don’t charge people an arm and a leg for their services, is he a doctor? Is he saving lives? LMAO!!!!
Got to love Lotus, they do like building crazy stuff with stock parts.
Lotus Carlton being one of the maddest and best.
Lotus build extraordinary cars from ordinary parts.
sam newman can’t forget the added lightness they provide!
It's a philosophy they keep from Collin Chapman (founder of both Lotus cars and classic Lotus f1) he used to build cars from other cars and his f1 cars started as tuned BRM/March f1 cars
Lotus Carlton - utterly insane. Didn't the coppers want to ban it?
Most of the parts are generic GM or Toyota parts. If you need something buy it from them, not Lotus as they add about 50% to the price :D
Love Lotus, i bought in 1998, a basket case 1972 Lotus Elan +2. Restored it over 2 years. It also had rear seats for amputees !!
arnietwo still got it?
@@kkkiddy afraid not, sold it when i moved from Scotland to Spain !! My toy now is a 1995 Fiat Barchetta.
Lotus Esprit is a highly valued Collectible now
Thanks for cranking out the content during these crappy times, much appreciated, Mr. and Mrs. Wizard!
My 2004 Pontiac Vibe GT has the Toyota 2ZZ used in the Lotus Exige. It's like a Corolla wagon that scoots and still does 30mpg.
And is the only reliable GM lol jk
And you know what, unpopular opinion, but the exterior doesn’t look that bad
The ZZ family of engines were used in a huge variety of applications. There were some problems with the oil ring design of the earlier 1ZZ (rectifiable with updated pistons but difficult to justify the cost unless you do your own wrenching); otherwise a very reliable mill.
It’s not the same engine. Lotus significantly changes the timing, software, headers, exhaust…
for anyone who wants a modern MR2, this is it boys
Sadly not for the cost of an MR2 though
@@aintaintaword666 go look up what a clean 2nd gen runs and then consider its age....
This is miles different to an Mr2
@One Issue Voter I heard the MR2 has terrible handling with snap-oversteer. It caused alot of accident back in the day.
Get a Opel Speedster/Vauxhal vx220 lower price same great chassis. Turbo version is a sick car for the price.
Always liked these cars. They've depreciated nicely too
Wigletron | I really want an Elise, $30,000 forever!
I’ll get one in about 5 years after they depreciate another half life 😂
Gold Wolf you mean right before the chassis snaps in half?
Gold Wolf The 2005, 6, 7 Elise are not depreciating anymore the cheapest you can get is a little over $30,000. If you’re short on cash I recommend a rebuilt lotus which can be had just under $30,000. Lotus Elise totals easy because of the cursed fiberglass clamshell. You can pluck pieces off of it with you hand.
look up clutch replacement.....
Legend had it: The Car Wizard built the entire city of Rome in just three days.
I think you may be onto something along the "Doug is the type of guy..." line.
"Legend has it The Wizard..."
Let the hijinks begin.
@@angelsriverajr5663 That's the plan!
And he built it on rock and roll
The chassis is bonded together, the orange stuff is the adhesive. The construction is the same type as the wing on a jet liner, large area bonding and riveting. The rivets are more there to stop it peeling apart in an accident than they are holding the panels together.
The non standard rear wing on that probably isn't doing the gas struts any favours.
Cool to know, you could tell the adhesive was applied by hand as it was very irregular. BTW all new aircraft have carbor fiber wings so no more rivets and glue.
irisfailsafe no they don’t
You need a hobby mate.
AFAIK that wing is an original Lotus accessory.
@@irisfailsafe Not all new aircraft do. I believe the 787 has carbon fiber wings.
Got to drive one of these on a track a couple of years ago - most fun I've had in any car with my clothes on.
I love how simple he is, no fast talking or exagerated gesture while speaking as most youtubers do their videos. Looks like the kind of guy that you want to have a beer together and just talk about cars... Subscribed!
I just bought a ‘12 Avalon with the 3.5...
Super impressed with the torque and power!
Actually more torque n power than ya need...Toyota is King !
So smooth!
This is one of the coolest cars ever made IMO.
They should have put the Toyota V6 in the Esprit.
The new Evija is awesome too, but it just doesn't feel like a Lotus. 1900 horsepower doesn't feel right. I really, really do like the '94 Esprit. Also the Evora 400.
Prefer the Exige but these are cool too, just too heavy IMO.
I came here to see a wholesome content and an overview of one of my favorite cars and was NOT disappointed. Thanks, Wizard fam!
The Elise and Exige were also Toyota (1.8L) engines. I had (for my daily driver) a Lotus Elise (touring) 2006 stock.
Thanks Mr &Mrs Wizard great to see the Lotus Evora. Stay safe.
Car Wizard, I appreciate your calm demeanour and articulate explanations.
Hi Wizard. The main reason performance cars have panels underneath is not to stop you working on stuff, its for drag reduction. A smooth underbody =less drag. What you cant see can slow you :)
Yep and it's actually dangerous to drive these cars without the underside panels. They will suck things up off the road (like paper), then it can jam against the manifold or cat and set on fire. It happened to me on an Elise, but luckily no damage.
"...he broke the crap out of it...! ‐ Wizard 2020
Really appreciate this look at the car. I own an Exige with the same engine, only supercharged, and it’s great to see it gets the thumbs up from a mechanic
Great fun watching, love the crawl through and comments!
This is the perfect budget exotic car.I love the manual gearbox.Although if was mine i'll paint it - HOK Cobalt blue and install chrome rims - 5 spokes ! Nice review Wizard, keep it up !
They still look amazing.
I love that you critique the smells of the cars! Late 60's and early 70's Datsuns take me back to my youth
Something about a humble delivery I can really appreciate
No over enthusiastic fake yelling right? So much calmer!
As I just pointed out on Jayemm's channel, these are finally being discovered, they are well priced (used) and they are pretty reliable and beyond reliable for a Lotus.
My 13' Sienna has a lotus engine!
Love the sounds when he's speeding up the footage during the time-lapse.
Thank you Mr. Wizard. I appreciate your channel
The Evora seems like a great daily driver, but my favorite Lotus road car is the Esprit. A nice expression of the wedge shape. My favorite Lotus race car is the 88.
Many ex-Esprit guys drive Evoras now and love them.
Toyota v6? Scotty Kilmer approved
Scotty is a clown. Used to like the guy but hes used atleast 11 different video titles over 25 times each
His new channel is 50xwhat his old ome was
Husspower enthusiast mr clickbait as well
I remember when the car wizard talked shite about the NSX because it uses a ''minivan'' engine. But now he likes this V6 Lotus that uses a ''minivan'' engine. lol.
+Husspower enthusiast Scotty is the smartest car guy on UA-cam. He knows what people want(over 3.2m subs).
basshead manipulators know what people want too, not much difference
Finest Car guy on UA-cam! Weezard! We love your videos! keep posting..and thank you for your service to our nation!
id just like to take a second and give a big shout out to you for taking the time to get down and actually align the lift perfectly before hoisting the car! i had a honda del sol that was lower than this and the shop ripped the whole side skirt off and proceeded to tell me it was like that when it arrived.
I LOVE the fact that it has a Toyota engine!
I can't wait until the Exige comes over to the states. And that 3.5L V6 is such a reliable standby.
my dream car.
Won't be long before you can get the first exige which is my favourite Exige
I have a Lexus ES350 with the same 3.5 V6 haha obviously it’s not turbo or supercharged but it’s no slouch. Pretty brisk car and bulletproof reliable
I got to drive an Exige on a track once. It was unbelievable! The only thing is that it has spoiled all other cars for me!
They are great engines. Advanced, with variable valve timing, good top end and lots of torque. They respond well to tuning too, 40whp gains with tune, exhaust and headers are common.
Appreciate a mechanic’s perspective on these machines. Lord knows there are plenty of journalist and test drives. Thanks!
Just found the best mechanic chanel. Love your tips and tricks advise .
One of the nicest Evora's I've seen!
Naca ducts to ventilate the engine compartment are historical.
Gotta love the wiz. Bring the car in let’s talk about what’s wrong with it, let’s fix it and find out together. Always willing to share info. No drama, no stupid script, just here is how to do it. Thank you!
Nice job Wizard. Love seeing the undersides of the supercars. Especially the rare ones like the Lotus Evora. Under rated cars overall.
Wish I could meet you Car Wizard, I own a 95 Taurus SHO with yahama v6 , I would get you to work on it but I live in Canada. Keep up awsome videos man love it.
Love the sho Yamaha engine
The Evora is simply one of the best modern enthusiast cars. Even if they have QC issues.
Just about every company with small output has QC issues if they have enough parts to deal with. Especially hand-built machines.
Thank you Car Wizard for this insight, it gladdens my heart you showing how to put the car on the lift regarding the underbody trays. I had to replace missing under trays on my own car.... not a Lotus but non the less very vital to the functioning of the car. "Always good to keep a level head and keep your mind in the game" that alone is worth the whole vid BANG-ON Mr Wizard thanks again stay safe.
Mrs Wizard "too bad for them....I can" OUTSTANDING.
easily some of the most peaceful videos on youtube. love the content
Imagine if this car was rebadged as the Toyota Supra.
The sad thing is, it’s moreToyota than the new Supra is.
Or mr2... considering plenty of mr2s cop the Camry v6 swap anyway it’s almost perfect.
People would be even more pissed. Removing the straight six, even for a toyota V6, would have been an absolute mistake.
Nah the fan boys would cry about the motor being in the back
What? I’d rather own a Lotus than a Toyota.
Favourite lotus: 2000 exige S1. Best handling road car I have ever driven without a doubt
To me, the Exige is one of the sexiest cars out there. They look amazing in RL and they're so tiny! I'd love to own one for weekend fun.
What about the Elise
DavinR16 the Exige IS the Elise, just raced-up and more power.
Exige has more purposeful look compared to Elise.
S1 and S2 Exige also have scoops on the roof which look awesome.
Thank you so much. Even in Southern California, I don't see too many Lotus cars. I've always liked them.
IMAGINE PUTTING THAT UG-LY WRAP ON A BEAUTIFUL SILVER LOTUS. GREAT VIDEO!
Thank Goodness, dying of boredom was getting tempted to go to Doug DeMuro's channel again.
You know you are close to suicide when you do that….
He really scares me with the "I love the smell of leather" comments. Poor Mrs. Wizzard!
Michael Reynolds why, because Mr. Wizard likes to nuzzle Mrs. Wizard’s handbags? Wait....oh. Yeah...😳😆
Hey Car Wizard!
Thanks for continuing to post awesome content! You have such a calm approach to everything and despite having worked on so many cool cars, it does not seem like you have lost touch with the "real" world. I would not hesitate to let you work on my cars for one second! Thanks again!
I love this car, everything about it. The design is beautiful, both exterior & interior. The use of Toyota's engine and other bought parts is really slick. I really like the exterior color. I usually hate black wheels, but on this car, they look super.
Toyota engine in a lotus A lotus you can daily drive 👍
Yeah it probably wont break down every week now. The only problem is that the rest of it isnt toyota.

how is it still going? Im thinking if buying one

I love your orange inspection light. I just ordered one from your Amazon page a couple days ago.
Those new Bendpak lifts seem to be serving you guys really well. Nice to see a smaller channel getting some nice stuff from companies that want to get some good exposure from car-guys.
Toyota powered? Sweet car Wizard man.
Not the first time Lotus uses Toyota engines
Lotus and Toyota go back to the 80s,early 80s
@@LOTPOR0402 Actually , Lotus & Toyota goes back to the late 70's when they join venture to designed / build the original MR-2. Lotus never build their's because they ran out of $$$ . I always wonder if the Elise was the late born child of their marriage?
I'll take mine in the original silver and without the wing
Agreed! That wrap is an eyesore.
grey is nice. not the blue and yellow...
I’ll take isotope green
As a late 70s early 80s gearhead the matte black looks like everyone of my friends cars at the time in primer black. It was not a choice it was just a quick and easy way to make a care one color after body repairs. So to me matte black means cheap or a hooptie.
The wrap is meh but spoiler is sexy man...
Cheers from Holland! Very informative channel. 👌🏻
Thank you! First time I have seen the under side of an Evora, and I've watched many videos on them.
Time to get a go fund me for the Wizard and buy him high end handbag 😅
Sean Roberts I’m afraid Mrs. Wizard would find herself one lonely woman if Mr. Wizard got his mitts on a fancy handbag...😉
Sports cars only come in manual transmission - Just ask Jesus (not the Latin version). Great videos wizard
you said it man, nobody fucks with the jesus.
So glad you did this video!! The wrap looks great on the car, much better than silver to me. I drove an Exige around for a day or two, and loved everything about that car. Would love to own one someday!
Car wizard is 100% the most wholesome UA-cam channel in the game. Thank you for your wholesome videos. They are a bright spot in these dark times.
"They can't drive a manual"
Reset of world: (points) HA-HA!
he should really teach them how to drive a manual now that he has such a good size hooptie fleet. I think it's doable.
In my humble opinion, everyone should be required to take drivers education, and that all drivers ed classes must use completely manual cars.
@James Harris thats not right at all. its just as easy for someone thats already comfortable with driving in general. they only have to focus the shifting, instead of other stuff like, getting used to traffic signals, lane changing, speed limits etc.
Steve Evans a manual is a millennial anti theft device.
From the other side of that the first time I drove an automatic having only driven manuals for 10 years I nearly put myself through the window using my left foot to brake (rookie mistake but force of habit to use both feet) not good when your brain's used to a clutch a heavy cable clutch at the time.
Toyota engine
and Daewoo airbag. XD
sounds horrible, but that poor company was actually damn good at component manufacturer...Infact made very reliable cars for a 1990s shitboxes; if you get a manual, or auto with a ZF as opposed to GM gearbox.
Yep some lotus’s even have the corolla engine because of power to weight
You got me, I rubbed my monitor to try to remove the hair.
I thought it was an eyelash. 😂
I just realized I wasn't subbed and I've been watching you all this time! Now part of the subbed crew!
Nice to meet Mrs 'Wizard', and I like your real guy car reviews.
It is really cool to see exactly what's going on with the cars I love these videos keep em coming
Great video, Wizard!
Another awesome car review by the Wizard! I was always intrigued by Lotus cars....
Awesome video thanks for reviewing
Thank you! I love those cars! I hope to own one some day and it’s comforting to know that even if they have some higher mileage, since it’s Toyota parts, it will still be a good buy with lots of enjoyment left.
So laid-back I love it great video!

Great video as always.
Oh Wizard, you hexxed me ! I always wanted on of those.. nuddging slowly towards spending the coins.... apppreciate your content !
I had a 2011 Evora S briefly, I managed to get 4 people in it several times, including three 6`+ men as well as me, one of which was a similar shape to you Mr Wizard! It wasn't for long journeys, but still, I`d have had to leave them behind if I was in a normal supercar.. Did the same thing numerous times in 944`s as well, & those extra micro-seats was something I missed when I traded "up" to a Boxster (as did my kids).
Thank you. Would love to c a how to flush coolant video if u ever get around to it, I’m sure all of Evora owners would love it.
We love your videos and you should have Mrs. Wizard in more of them...
Congrats on 250k subscribers wizard!
Love the Evora. My Lotus Elan has an Isuzu engine which is also unburstable. I was worried you wouldn’t get the jacking point right, it’s an issue on all Lotus’s. The Elise is so rear heavy they can fall backwards off of the ramp 😟
I love ths guy. A good car mechanic that's passionate about cars.
Hey Wi$ard...keep the videos coming. They definitely pay more than twisting a wrench!
Your a lucky man, you love what you do and it shows!!
Theres one thing I just love about your videos is the theme music. It's the BADDEST time going on. Is it just generic or a local band or something?
I just want to say thank you for recording in 4k!
Favourite Lotus is the 1960's Elan. I had a Jimi Hendrix poster with Jimi, Mitch, and Noel in front of an Elan.
