- Tom And Jerry On SEGA Master System Part 1
This is another very easy game in which the object of each stage is to chase and catch Jerry.
I had alot of memories playing this game when everyday I would come home from school and play this which really opened up my imagination as a kid. I miss the 1990's.
For those that like to bitch and complain in the comments: PAL 50Hz is the proper speed for this game as it was only released in the PAL regions. It was not optimized to run the same in NTSC 60Hz since it was never released in North America and Japan on SEGA Master System. So if you ever hear the music's tempo running faster than this in future, it means it's wrong. The Game Gear version running faster does not count as that is a slightly different modified version of the game as with most Master System/Game Gear games.
Recorded from an original PAL SEGA Master System model 1 console.
Enjoy!
I like how Jerry's like, half the size of Tom.
oh god the nostalgia!! i remember when i was little i was in the back garden of my cousins house and the neighbour kid invited me over (i guess there must have been a hole in the fence or lack of a fence) we ended up playing this game for a while.
It took me 7 years to beat this game... from when I was 6 to when I was about 13.
I miss my childhood...
You're welcome.
I was 9 too when my mother bought me this game back in 1993.
Wow amazing!
@guitartur It's not necessarily that mine's too slow, it could be that yours is too fast.
This game was only produced for Europe and the PAL regions, I find it weird how Brazil uses the PAL-M signal but with the NTSC 60Hz speed. Tec Toy might not have optimized this game properly for the Brazilian market which could be why yours is too fast but I can't say for sure.
1:46 If you're quick enough, you can also catch Jerry at this point.
4:00 It's also possible to swim under the logs and catch Jerry in the wall area with the darker rocks. =P
6:24 Just keep running, it's really easy to catch him at the dead end wall.
Always thought it was a bit of a bummer the shortcut to catch Jerry in this level was so quick, I always liked the music of this stage so much, I often just took the long road on purpose. =P
Nice vid, brings back memories
@guitartur Brazil is a PAL region, not NTSC.
I think Brazil had 50Hz to begin with and now has 60Hz like Europe.
Depends whether this game was optimized for 60Hz or not. If it wasn't then 60Hz whether it's PAL or NTSC is not the right way to play this game.
@retrogamer96 Sega's Master System and Megadrive support had a very long overlap time. Heck, they still made some SMS/GG games after Sonic 3 had come out.
Sonic appears in Downtown!
This looks a similar game to Sylvester and Tweety cagey capers for the megadrive or genesis whatever you want to call the system.
@danylopez123 Because I live in Australia and here in Australia we have PAL 50hz as our video game screen format which I like alot more than NTSC 60hz.
Not everybody likes NTSC 60hz you know.
I don't think this game even came out in America as they stopped producing Master System games in 1991 in that region. All the good Master System games were made after America stopped supporting the Master System. What a shame they missed out on such great titles like this one.
omg, thank you so much for these memories, i could cry
@Adam060756 Think so yeah, Brazil gave Sega's older systems the longest shelf life by far, mostly thanks to the continued release of games by Tectoy, if I'm not mistaken.
Haha, I had it on my Master System, I had forgotten just how awesome this game is, look at the way Jerry beckons with his finger to provoke Tom, hahaha.
@HHog That's right! In Australia, U.K. and Europe SEGA made Master System games right up until late 1994, only America and Canada bombed with releasing Master System games, those regions gave up after Sonic 1 in 1991. Game Gear lasted even longer 1996 to be exact while Brazil kept releasing and producing Master System games until 2000 I think?
i always played this on the handheld sega console. that thing was awesome
The flickering happens on the TV. A capture card such as easycap would certainly neutralize it.
Still my got my SMS and this. And still great fun.
ahh damn this game gives me nightmares! couldn't get past the first level as a kid!
@guitartur All I can say for sure is that there is absolutely nothing wrong with my version of the game. This is how it's always played on my Master System since I was a kid, it's perfectly normal. I can't speak for Brazil or Tec Toy because I don't live there.
@Adam060756
but it was released on Brasil, so it was officially released in NTSC also...
look's like a good idea for tom & jerry at the time, i was 11 when it came out and I still need to know how to beat that game.
I found out why i thought it was slow. It's because the NTSC version is a little faster than PAL...
The garden level is my favorite music!
@guitartur This game wasn't released in the USA or Japan and only released specifically for Europe which means that this is the correct speed for this game PAL 50Hz and wasn't optimzed to play correctly for NTSC.
Running this in NTSC 60Hz is wrong.
@HHog I'm well aware of the many spots and chances to catch Jerry but I purposely waited until the end of each stage to catch him so I could show everyone the full length of the stages.
It makes the game last longer to wait until the end of each area to catch him.
@thefidlerontheroof Yes i'm playing as Tom.
The object of the game is to catch Jerry.
@du0lol This was recorded directly off a SEGA Master System played on a real TV and I never experienced any shaking or flickering.
i like tom and jerry
hi i am nikola
great memories
@Adam060756
What i'm trying to say is that I have the cartrigde of this game, officially released on Brazil by Tec Toy company, and it runs faster than showed on this video.
good times...
@Adam060756
but i didn't mean to say that there's something wrong with your version, i just realised how slow this game is compared to mine one.
@Adam060756 Kinda figured as much, just thought I'd throw it out there just in case =P
I had frantic antics on Sega genesis that was soo hard too my cousin had this it was hard OMG😱
@du0lol I'm not saying thats untrue about the flickering on TV in PAL 50hz but I personally have never experienced that. The borders on top and bottom have also never bothered me.
Is this video running slow or am I stoned?
ahhhhhhhh... nostalgia.. XD
@guitartur You're stoned, the video is perfectly normal.
@guitartur emulators and roms tend to run slower than their original counterparts
How did this even get a million?
.... bro reckons you are playing as Tom
my bro and i are confused-- who are you playing, dude?
bons tempos .... momento nostalgia :')
Cara.. como em sinto velho!! Hahaha xD
i said hi to sonic he was i lvl 3 on the wall
@Adam060756 Yeah, of course not. It's playing on an emulator. Try it on a real TV and enjoy the earthquake.
thx
@du0lol There is no flickering.
I know it's Tom and Jerry game but it just little weird....
I can t understand the dislikes here
Humans.. Ego.. Dislikes..
I completed this the first time I played it I must of been 12
