I have this placement with Pluto in the 5th House. I am very artistic and have a dark, mystical, sexual tendencies in my work. Interesting at 12:18 as a Scorpio ascendant conjunct Venus with a Sagittarius sun (Jupiter ruled) in my time as an escort I absolutely experienced the “service” that I offered more often than not focused on assisting clients psychologically rather than just sexually.

Charles Manson's Chart is crystal clear and an excellent description, thank you, but I'm not quite convinced to see the Dalai Lama with a Gemini ascendant. Mercury-ruled Gemini is Vaishya, while Cancer ascendant is Brahmin. He is a spiritual leader (Sun/kethu) of his land and of his people, ruler of 2nd house, which is why he was chosen at birth: A religious leader. Sun, Mars and Jupiter indicators of Royalty are much stronger with the ascendant in Cancer than with the ascendant in Gemini that stands out: Mercury, Moon, Saturn, non-prominent strata of society or maybe more of a democratic type of leadership.
Mercury in Gemini makes the Dalai Lama a communicator, but in the 12th house, he indicates that his message to communicate is in foreign lands, also about his religion focused on Moksha (Vimala yoga). His oratorical ability is also marked by Venus in Leo in the 2nd house, his pacifying message is related to his homeland (Venus ruler of libra in 4th), and to achieving peace within oneself. With the Ascendant in Gemini, Venus ruler of the 5th house in 3 would give a different approach to the desire for a relationship, not proper of a Monk.
Moon in Virgo in 3 in opposition to Saturn in 9 (religion) makes him non lusty, a monk, (sadhu) and is also oriented to literary artistic ability. The ruler of the moon (ruler of the ascendant) Mercury in 12 also indicates his renunciation of desires (moon) with (Kama / Moksha houses). Which reveals his identity: a monk, a writer. Along with the characteristics marked by the ascendant: A Ruler, a Leader.
Mars in Libra ruler of 10 in 4th house indicates both the invasion of his country, as well as his dismissal as political leader of the nation, exile (Mars in Libra is a planetary exile, opposite to his domicile, which commonly indicates a defeat of Some kind). With the ascendant in Gemini, the moon in the 4th house (ruler of 2) with its depositor Mercury in Bhadra Mahapurusha yoga, it seems difficult to move for a well-established Saturn ruler of the 9th house in 10 and trine to Jupiter.
The ascendant in Gemini has Mars in Libra in the 5th house ruling the 11th (kama), again love linked to desire in a person who does not seem to have those characteristics.
With Ascendant in Cancer, Jupiter in Scorpio in 5th house is an index of his deep religious knowledge (ruler of 9 in 5) in trine to the Sun in Cancer in the ascendant makes him a religious leader, in trine to Saturn in 9 in Pisces, grants wisdom and creativity to their religious dogma (Saturn in 9). It should be noted that both Jupiter and Saturn are very strong due to their retrogresion, which is why they are highly significant. With the ascendant in Gemini, Jupiter would be in the 6th house, in a highly religious person? I don't know.
also found this info: The Dalai-Lama gave July 6, 1935 in his autobiography "Freedom in Exile." David Fisher quotes Valerie Matthews of Scotland for a letter from Pema Dorjee at the office of his Holiness that gave "between 5:30 and 6:30 in the morning." Sally Thibodeau quotes Dalai Lama, My Son, which is the story of his mother told to her granddaughter. On p. 89 his mother is quoted as saying he "was born early in the morning, before sunrise." (LMR calculates sunrise at that date and location as 4:50 AM.) At 4:50 the ascendant is in Cancer with sun near ascendant cusp.

If the Sun was not fully up and it looked dark, the mother would have said that it was before the Sun came up, regardless of the actual meteorological time...
