Dolly grew up very poor and she has never forgotten her roots. She could easily be a billionaire now but she's given away much of the fortune she's made as an entertainer and businesswoman. Her father never learned to read and she started her Imagination Library which provides one book per month until a child reaches age 5 and this charity has spread throughout the world at this point and has given away millions upon millions of books. When wildfires ravaged the area where she grew up, she gave direct cash payments to those affected, and her Dollywood theme park in the Great Smoky Mountains is a way she found to provide jobs in the impoverished area where she grew up, she even gave a million dollars to Vanderbilt University which helped develop the Covid 19 vaccine. So many people see her wigs, flashy clothes and shall we say a couple of other things but really, the biggest thing about Dolly is her heart. She is an amazing songwriter, performer and most of all human being.
Dolly Parton is a country legend who has been recording & writing songs since the 60's. Love her storytelling songs the most like "Jolene" & "Coat Of Many Colors". She has had so many hits such as "Yellow Roses", "My Tennessee Mountain Home", "Here You Come Again", "9 To 5" etc. She did a lot of great duets with Kenny Rogers & Porter Wagoner. She also collaborated with Linda Ronstadt & Emmylou Harris & they released a few "Trio" albums.
My pop-Pop raised me on old country... this is one of my all time Fav's.. Just straight out of her childhood.. this is what makes Dolly so Iconic.. She writes and sings her music from the heart... can't go wrong with our National Treasure now 77 yrs old and Rocking It
This song is her true roots.. in the hills of Tennessee... She grew up dirt poor with 8 ( i think) brothers and sisters.. and was laughed at.. who's laughing now.. not Dolly .. because she's just not that kinda woman... she's just always given back.. She just did a HalfTime show at a Dallas Cowboys football game and all the proceeds go to charity.... She Always gives back to ppl less fortunate, and has never taken herself that serious.. She will make fun of her wigs, nails, make-up... but no one sees her without her full get up on.... Kenny Rogers said how much he loved her but never once saw her without DOLLY going on.. lol
