I like em :] I’ve got another Dancing Douglas Fir I wanna fix sometime. I just find it satisfying to watch ppl restore things. So I watched this vid. :] Btw, Poor tree, he’s lucky to be purchased by you. Good home :] I like the hat lol
Aww I'm really happy this video could help lol; I love repair videos n such aswell, and I hope the repair goes good. And yes, I'm very glad I stumbled across him! ^^
Have u had a problem with the Douglas fir’s singing non stop instead of being motion activated? I got one from work and it worked fine but then when I took it home the mouth worked for a minute and then stopped and it would not stop singing
My deep voice one had a split gear in both mechs and it was a PAIN to fix the eye mech. The reason it was so hard was because the motor was stuck. I tried prying it out with pliers but it still wouldn’t come out. I ended up having to open it up on the other side and replacing it out that way.
I'm trying to fix my Douglas Fir right now... he's spent a couple years in the basement but he had issues the last time he was up as well. The eyes and mouth get stuck when either open all the way. I checked both motors and the gears seem to be fine, they're both firmly attached to their shafts (both also have orange liquid on them which I assume is some kind of lubricant). Any insight?
Have the gears been replaced before? If not - it's probably still most likely that. They can appear good to go but split just so little to affect the movement
I assume nothing had been disassembled before, I had to peel a lot of glue off before I could get to anything. I've got some replacement gears on the way so I'll see if they make a difference. @@_SkylarStudios
@@_SkylarStudios no idea. I unscrew the black part off and ive tried pulling, prying with a screwdriver, and pulling with pliers. I'll try again though
Wow good job skylar 👏

Yes, one of mine does this. I'm unsure why. Maybe clean out the sensor with a q-tip? Idk

Yeah - that's a issue with these sometimes, it's from old built up glue residue. I usually have to use a bulky set of pliers to pull them out
The weird thing is when I first got it about a year ago the motor came out just fine so I don’t know what happened over that time🫤
@@Groovin_Ghoul that's very strange

I'm happy to report that some fresh gears really were just what the doctor ordered :)
That's great!!
By the way why is there music in the backround?
Just thought it would make the video less awkward lol.

Yeah, I ripped it from one myself a while ago
Where did you find the gear. I couldn’t tell where you said.
I have been having a hard time getting the motor out on my deep voice 2 ft
Do you know why?
