its not usually my kind of game but im glad i decided to play cause it was such a great experience. the characters were all so good and the world was super interesting, i missed a ton of secrets so now im gonna replay it.

If you open the game again The Author leaves behind a note that gives instructions for the “solstice ending” which is the true happy ending for the game and I REALLY REALLY recommend you do it (it elevates the game from great to amazing)
I'd say the solstice ending undermines the original story and themes of OneShot, so much so that the game is worse for having it as an option.
@@DommHavai obviously it's subjective. But i disagree, i really liked the ending, it was very cute to see the world machine believe in itself. That was more than enough for me. If not for that scene, i would have agreed with you
@@DommHavai although yes it does kinda makes undermines the original "One Shot" thing, but the original absolutely leaves the player in a contradiction, there isnt a correct ending, its either sacrifice niko or the world, and both isnt a good ending. This game makes a bond between niko and the player, of course people want a good ending for niko and the world

Fun thing to note a bout George(The librarian)! She has six different personalities based on which side of the dice her face is, and which one you meet is randomized at the start of the game. The George you met was George the 2nd, the rude one.

@@matthewboire6843 George the 1st is very egocentric and tries to be as cooperative as possible to embellish her talents. As mentioned, George the 2nd is very stressed out and snaps quite easily. This is in stark contrast to George the 3rd, who is quite solemn and hopeless, often putting herself down. George the 4th is very excitable and happy-go-lucky instead, being very cheery about everything. George the 5th has a similar but different vibe, being very kind and calm, trying to be motherly to Niko. George the 6th... can basically be described as memey. She's chill and casual and cracks a lot of jokes.

the true ending (solstice ending) makes you essentially replay the game with different characters/interactions, but ultimately ends up being the "happy" ending, which if you are interested I find 100% worth it. Also thanks sm for playing this lyy

Because the solstice route doesn't work if you know that it's the "true ending". That flattens the entire thing to be just another route in a video game. Which I mean, ultimately it is but, in the narrative it explores much more interesting ideas than that.

Man, this game has been sitting at the top of my wishlist for a few months, and now that Quin's playing it, that's gotta be a sign to finally give it a go.
Must protect Niko at all costs! Although honestly, the game has a bigger impact when you play it on PC since the interactions are actually with your literal computer.
Although that part of the experience had to be adapted into a virtual computer, I'm glad it's on consoles. It can reach more people and more can live through this experience.
Niko must be protected, they are so cute and precious!
it was fun to watch you play this game. the game was originally made for pc, where it would address you as your steam name and change files in your computer itself. it's very neat how they made a whole computer simulation to recreate it on the switch but let's just say i did not expect at all to see things like my desktop background changing when i first played it and it left quite a strong impression on me. i love that game so much
This game was so wonderful. It’s a shame so many people never got the true ending because of how well-hidden it is.

Man, I feel this about moral decisions in games.
I have already written an in-depth review of that choice in particular, but the TLDR is that the choice is intentionally designed to be hard by making one choice feel right, and the other be logically correct.

About the editing tho just keep in mind you don’t have to pull an all-nighter, I rewatch your stuff all the time
Not sure if you've read the books in George's office yet but one of them sorta talks about parallel universes, and it has a dice drawn in there, asking which one you've got. This essentially tells you that there are actually 6 different versions of George in the game and which one you meet is random. The different versions of George each talk differently and it's really interesting to see, and it gives the game some more replay value (quite ironic considering the game's name)

Quin if you like these kinda games you should definitely get your paws on games such as To The Moon, Misao, Mad Father, Ib and The Witch's House. They are so good and fun to play for an hour or so!
Quin I am emotionally scarred after this video I sat down at my desk like, "Yippee, another Quin video, can't wait!". I ended up staying up until 1 am SOBBING after this and I looked at the comments and watched some more OneShot and I am actually so sad and am continuing to cry even though I have to take a vaccine tomorrow. 10/10 video made me cry

Oneshot is one of my favourite games. I’m really glad you are playing and enjoying it this one is something really special. This game had a big impact on me when I first played it, it’s one of the reasons why I’m currently studying game design and scriptwriting.

This game reminds me of a game I played on Switch a long time ago called The Last Campfire. It's a super cute 3d puzzle adventure game with good graphics and I really recommend it. It's about 5 hours in playtime and I loved it, it's super cozy and cute with a great story!

Quin; I'm SO glad you got to experience this. You put yourself into the role, Niko is their own being and you are you; that's the meta dynamic this game (or experience) wants you to be deeply immersed in. And now this is on consoles; it can really a much wider audience.
BUT... you're not done yet, Quin. Remember what the fox said; "if you can find a way to return, please do". Niko left the game world to try and return home, and the game requires Niko to function. The world was supposed to "end instantly" when the Sun was shattered, but Niko had to leave first before the "Fatal Error" occurred. The game wanted Niko safe. There is more Quin...

never heard of oneshot till this video but decided to pick it up and now im obsessed didnt finish the video since i didnt want spoilers but im not even halfway through and this game. and its just so good im already getting emotional i do how ever know about a ending you can get by going back which if you liked this game i highly recommend i dont know what it changes but i just know it exists. god this game is something else Q~Q also thank you quin for all the amazing content you make it always brings a smile to my face and to others as well im sure

Playing on PC kinda is the best experience since the 4th wall breaks hit harder, but it's very cool seeing for the first time the workaround they did for the console ports.

Spot on reaction to the disclaimer about eyes and darkness because, yeah, that is absolutely terrifying, what?? Like…I wasn’t worried, but now….and then later on the game addresses you by your name without you ever putting it in? Cue flashbacks to that warning about paranoia…
If I had played this game on a PC with no warning and it starting changing my computer files, I would probably have screamed and 100% believed my computer had been hacked for real. 😅

Super stoked to watch this new video! On another note I have a suggestion for another series you could start if you're looking. I don't know if you're at all interested in the paper mario games but Paper Mario: The Origami King was a very fun and cute game for me personally. I think it'd be extremely fun to watch you play it. :D
it sucks that so many playthroughs on youtube don't cover the solstice run, like, this video is great!

I subbed to you at some point, watched your splatoon vids. But AAAH ONE SHOT! Seriously one of my favorite games and you don't see much content about it appearing online. I'll be watching this vid tomorrow for sure!
edit: Oh you played it on a console. It seamlessly integrates into your files on PC. you only really realize this when it tells you to look in your documents. It's a cool suprise. I'm interested to see if console gives the same feel.
After watching: I like the console backgrounds and experience just a bit better than PC I think. I chose the world over Niko, that decision was so hard. Remember Solstice, I expect to see another video on this or I'll riot. 🙃
I made the same choice at the end of the game, but my brother was watching and was so upset cuz he chose the opposite. I've been trying to tell him about all the dialogue I remembered about how the sun wasn't a guarantee that the world would be ok, and it's still gonna beef it, so I chose to send cute cat boi home to pancakes, his Mama, and a bad dream. I took pictures of the dialogue while you played so I could show my brother, definitely not copium, totally the right choice, cry about it.

I was so confused waht was happening and them I realized you were playing on console. I really like how they did that though having to go through you're on files on your PC makes everything a bit creepier
