My dad was career Army (WWII, Korean War, Vietnam), and a lifelong Democrat. I was raised to respect our military, all people, and not the dollar. He could never understand how anyone serving their country could vote for a Republican. I learned how to treat people and my country by watching him. I'm very relieved that he is not here to witness how power, and money hungry thugs have hijacked our country.

It was 2008 when I noticed the Republican Party changing. They were becoming more radical at that time. That’s when my husband and I became Democrats. I was appalled as to the treatment of our then President Obama and his family. I really think we could have accomplished great things if it weren’t for Republicans stopping every move the President made. This needs to stop. Stay strong and be prepared for the worst to happen.

Thank you for your sanity Denver and Reed. Personally politics was of little interest, and if it wasn't for the nightmare of 2016, it would have stayed in that pocket. I really had no idea who TRump was except some rich guy in real estate, intuition told me to do my homework on this guy (which normally I wouldn't do on a Repub but something felt different), so all I could find was what a loser he was, how he screwed over all these businesses refusing to pay what he owed, causing them to take on huge losses or go bankrupt, this guy was clearly a conman, a liar and a cheat. As a former intelligence officer, you must be just losing your 'ship' over the classified docs case. I was formerly a lowly secretary for the NIS, and I had a TS clearance. The rules about docs are SERIOUS. There's NO WAY that DT should be out of jail now for how he handled those documents.

I have thought for a very long time that the Reagan years created the dystopia we find ourselves in now. Those policies - trickle-down economics, deregulation, etc. - ruined the middle class and continued us on the path of ecological destruction. And his harping on how the government can't do anything right and his support of the myth of "pulling oneself up by one's bootstraps" has created a public mindset that has made it impossible for us to have a coherent healthcare system, or a way to address national problems in a sensible way. I don't for the life of me understand why half the country has supported this insanity. My father was a "Lincoln Republican" all his life, but he voted for Obama in his last election before he passed away. He would be beyond appalled at what is going on now with his once beloved party. Trump didn't start this trend; he is the almost inevitable result of it.
