HERE I SIT IN MYLIV8NG ROOM IN BETHLEHEM WISHING I HAD KNOWN ABOUT THE AL MEIXNER BAND WHEN I WAS PLAYING AND ENTERTAING WITH MY SON KEVIN ON GUITAR AND ME ON ACCORDION FOR THE PAST 30 YEARS. I STARTED PLAYING THE BIG ACCORDION IN 1953. BECAUSE I WAS ITALIAN I PLAYED MOSTLY ITALIAN MUSIC. THAN I STARTED LEARNING A LOT OF GERMAN POLKAS AND WALTZES AND OLE SING A LONG SONGS. NOW IM 82 AND CANNOT LIFT AND PLAY THE INSTRUMENT I L9VE. SO I JUST WATCH ALEX ON THESE GREAT UTUBE VIDEOS. 👍 👌 🙌 GOING TO SEE ALEX IN COPLAY MAY 4TH 2023. HAVE A RESERVED TABLE RIGHT IN FRONT OF STAGE. WHAT A GREAT EXCITING SHOW IT WILL BE. 😀 👏 🙌 👍

I love this music and the buttonbox. I have two Buttonboxes (from my Austrian dad) one from the brand Hohner and the other from Kärtnerland. We actually had 3, but my dad kept one (from the brand strasser). And here in Spain it is truly rare to see a steirische harmonika...

NOTHING BETTER THAN YOU AND. UR DAD PLAYING ON STAGE TOGETHER. MY SO KEVIN AND I ON THE ACCORDION ENTERTAIN MOSTLY AT NURSING HOMES AND HOLIDAY GATHERINGS. HE PLAYS ACOUSTIC GUITAR ON SOME SONGS AND DRUMS ALONG WITH POLKAS AND LIVELY TUNES. SO NICE. I LOVE TO 🎶 LISTEN TO UR MUSIC.

I have played in and heard many Polka bands but never have I heard a band with such a strong repertoire from so many points in Europe. Alex, I hope to see you in California.

14:26 - 16:26 the washboard is really crisp. BTW, Mark was not credited play it in the description.
Your dad does a good job 👍⭐with the introductions of the different songs being performed. I can see that's one thing I missed during my teenage years long long ago performing for nursing homes.

This was before I ever saw you at Ironworld Your Dad looked so young and happy! I didn't know that the Tamboritzans all played, danced and sang when he was in the troupe! I went to so many Tamboritzan shows at Ironworld in the 2000s.

I think a few months after this taping was when The Al Meixner Trio made it's first trip to Ironworld... (although my Dad played with Dan Witucki up there many years earlier and had played up there a lot with the Tamburitzans and with his own band in the 1970s) Sure miss heading up there...

Alex; this is a real treat! 👍⭐Oh Ya was nice, like your "One More Time Polka," and you're did a banged up job on El Rio drive. Nice music while driving the country roads of SE WIS and listening through car audio system. GREAT harmony you and your dad! Does your accordion have a MIDI? Hearing a strong bass cord through car speakers during the Oh Ya song. Also, nice to see your background. Looks like the description missed a few instruments -- your dad playing, a 4 string instrument during the Gypsy number, Zither? And Mark on the washboard.
A Slovenian all women group called Navihanke, calls folk music like this music from the heart. They've reorganized into Skupina Chicas but they've been around for 20+ years years.

Thank you sir. I sure miss harmonizing with my Dad... At this time we didn't have a midi accordion-- the bass sound was produced by an old Iorio accorgan (still playing left hand bass- but pre-midi for us!)
My Dad was playing a Celtic Bouzouki (tuned like a D Brac tamburitza)
I'm familiar with Navihanke from their videos on line... lot's of great music!
