I was by then 100% heavy metal/hard rock concert goer (and a major Pink Floyd fan…go Roy!) by this time tho. Ironically, Kenny Ortega’s college roommate was in a metal band I was listening to at the time this video was made, but I still remember it. It’s hard to know the truth of behind the scenes of your childhood now, and all the abuse esp b/c of Roy. Also that the group was not accepting of Roy (tho Ray de Reyes was likely his best ally when he joined) and even mocked what he went through. I really never liked Ricky Melendez b/c he seemed so arrogant n was allowed to stay so long as Diaz’s family. Now as an adult, he and a few of the OG’s or 2nd generation laugh that they got great contracts and percentages, while worked to near literal death, others got paid just by concert performance. Diaz even took the checks that Pepsi mailed to the individual members, who weren’t supposed to know Diaz was getting paid for doing nothing but assault n abuse.
Charly was the best singer, he didn't even have to try. His voice was just perfect. The others sounded childish or out of tune. Robbie was born a showman he deserved to be a star by himself. But in the USA he didn't make it alone. That's why he joined Menudo.

And Puerto Rico is part of the US and puertoricans are american citizens. English is taught in school and there are many bilingual schools in the island. Kids grow up watching cable tv and movies in English...so yes, unless you grew up in a cave underground, you are pretty much exposed to both Spanish and English, while growing up in the island.
