Same! Full blown intense ass panic attacks where I'm hysterically crying and shaking. I had to get a tooth pulled and wanted to be sedated. NO ONE would sedate me other than the hospital which was another 9 months out and I already waited a year while my tooth slowly broke off and it was about to fall out on its own it was so lose. So I HAD to get it pulled that day. I FREAKED tf out, no one would go with me to help me stay calm so I was completely alone with a tooth pulling place with dentists I didn't know, the male dentist that pulled my tooth gave me the injections and stopped after to let my mouth numb, but I also had an infection where they injected so I didn't know it was going to BURN extremely bad and it caused me to flip out worse and I thought he was pulling the tooth when it started burning but he didn't. He also let me take as much time as I needed, checked on me, and his assistant did as well. He did some mind tricks I swear he had to of known some psychology because he talked me through my panic attacks while distracting my mind so I couldn't focus on my fears and freak myself out more. I'm my own worse enemy sometimes and he was incredible. Of course after it was an intense rush of emotions so I just lost it crying but was ok and more calm. Still have a fear of dental work but it wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. We need more dentists and assistants that understand and help calm people down instead of being rude and brushing us off. Everyone is different. Some people can come in and are like the freaking hulk, do whatever u need and don't flinch, others get in a dentist chair and have severe panic attacks and meltdowns before the work even starts. We need to normalize fear and that it's ok to be scared or whatever emotions you feel are valid.
@@chelseajensen8842 I used to get so crazy jittery when they injected the novocaine, that my Dentist said I was probably allergic to the epinephrine in the stuff. (I think it's in there to stem bleeding from the inj itself)... So now when I make an appt, I remind them I can't tolerate it and to make sure they have the plain one on hand. Have you inquired if you could be allergic/sensitive to the numbing agent? I used to work with a Physicians Asst who the Dr taught to anesthetize patients for foot surgery. She NEVER let it hurt!! She took her time, and literally injected the needle ¼"(or less) at a time, waiting for each part to become numb before going in another ¼" and injecting numbing agent into just the already-numb part. I'm sure she used more stuff than average, bc in the length of time to slowly numb the entire forefoot in this manner, for example, it could possibly start wearing off before surgery completed! The crazy part was she wasn't certified, just trained by her boss. This was way long ago, before they even had Physician's Assistant Certificates, let alone Degrees. Anyhoo, you might relate this idea to future dentists (Never go back to a crappy dentist! I wdnt pay them either, LOL)
I'm a certified dental assistant and let me tell you, this man is pure gold. I gave up my career years ago due to the way the dentists I worked for would treat their patients. So when I see a good one with a heart, it warms me to my core.
@MaryamJani-zu8qs Because I couldn't work for someone who just pushed the high dollar items on everyone including people who can't afford it. It didn't feel right. I want to like who I see in the mirror and feel good about making people smile.
It ain’t as bad as before they have that numbing cream to kind of numb the shot site. My dentist as a kid would threaten me with more shots smh 🤦♀️ that’s my reason I was so scared for so long.
I completely understand. I have such terrible dentist anxiety. Even as an adult I haven't been able to finish a dentist appointment in years because I can't handle it. I wish the dentists I'd visited were as sweet as this guy.
I’ve always suffered from major “dentist anxiety” as long as I can remember. Back in the day unscrupulous dentists would drill little kid’s perfectly healthy teeth, charge the insurance companies and nobody was the wiser. Now I insist on both Nitrous Oxide (“Laughing Gas”) AND Novocaine!
I have it too😭 it’s really bad and my teeth are terrible because I refuse to go and genetic wise o did not win there for sure😩 it’s terrible because I know it’s dangerous for the whole health.
as someone who has so much anxiety with going to the dentists, this made me cry because this is the comfort i needed when i go in for appointments instead of them telling me to stay still and saying they’ll finish when i calm down
Bro the one I went to i took off the nose thingy(it had sleep mist) and my nose was springy it felt weird and they put it back on I cried bc its scared me and they put the straps on it and I was fully strained from any movement it was traumatizing

I'm 35 and still get that way. I have found one dentist that I absolutely feel no pain from injections. Idk how he does it but it's an absolute miracle. This is what kept me from dentist for years. Trauma from dentist as a child carries on into adulthood. Thanks for talking to her. That helps a whole lot.
Same I'm 30 and have horrible trauma from dental offices as a child. I have to pay for sedation out of pocket for anything more then a cleaning/exam because my panic and anxiety is too bad.
There's also a method to inserting the needle which reduces pain and also giving the anesthetic slowly helps with reducing pain 👍🏾 learnt this from my dad and I also don't feel any pain when he numbs my mouth for an appointment

Yeah, u def need to switch dentist's bc fk that! But I'm also afraid if the dentist from 1 terrible experience ans panock attacks. It's crucial to have one u trust ans can be honest with. This guy is the DREAM DENTIST SCENARIO.
In 5th grade, I had to get some cavities removed, I had about three (my family has always had teeth problems). When I went to the dentist, they told me I had to get FIVE teeth removed. The anesthetic had no effect on me, and four workers held me down, I was screaming, sobbing, writhing in pain, while this dentist drilled my teeth off of my gums. So yeah, glad dentists like this guy exist.
I am so very sorry that this happened! Are you able to go to the dentist now? It’s common to have a lot of anxiety & PTSD after such an ordeal! Blessings
I feel you on a molecular level. I had a tooth pulled right out my gum, while it was still a bit attached. Like 40% was still attached, it was painful, but at least it was quick (The dentist used their hands with gloves on to remove it). And I had more problems before like a cracked tooth, it was in right in the middle of to the corners of the tooth, I had to get an injection right IN my left cheek bone literally, I felt it go in and all, just to remove the fragments that were somehow still connected. And before that to my first ever tooth removal they put anesthetic but it didn't work (they asked if I could feel the area and i said no) and I just wanted to get it over with (and I was a bit socially awkward/a people pleaser basically) so I felt the moment when they took my tooth out and I was in so much pain but held it in🙂 (no tears, no sound, nothing)
BRO the exact same thing happened to me and they used one of those jacket things to tie me down the seat and I was screaming in pain which made me bite one of the doctors and that’s where my fear for going to the dentist started so yeah 🙂
This happened to me as well and I will never forget it cuz if I was able to I would have sued them for doing that and forcing my grandmother to help as well
I had my 1st oral surgery in 2nd grade & many, many more up til 21. Broken palate, gum removal, etc. My anxiety was so bad I didn't go to the dentist for over 25yrs. I've found an amazing dentist who is patient, kind, gentle, & understanding. He just pulled a huge molar today, & while I'm in pain right now, he kept reminding me to breathe & talking me through it. I lost many teeth from lack of care. He singlehandedly has saved every tooth he can. He's even tried new procedures he's yet to do that he'd record & share with this colleagues that worked. Thank you for not traumatizing her more than necessary & being aware of the real fear & pain some people feel especially when we don't even understand what you're doing or why.
Thats how I was until I went to a really good dentist to get my wisdom teeth removed. I was super nervous and scared but he really helped me and calmed me down by talking through it with me and always apologized when he was scaring or hurting me.

I was traumatised by 2 dentists as a kid. One pulled a tooth while telling me he's not gonna touch it and the other ignored my distress because I wasn't crying or trying to run away. I just remember thinking I have to stay perfectly still and this picture he had on the wall. I worked with a nice lady dentist for a while but her boss was a dude that came in to check on her work dropped my chair without telling me, and had a party through my mouth with out saying a word and scared the shit out of me again. Never went back there after that.
The tapping, eye contact, and “not going to hurt you” REALLY help calm the instincts she’s experiencing right now ❤ fight or flight with fear. Bless you ❤

My dentist recorded me crying, played it back with the assistants and my mom laughing hysterically. I was 7. 20 years later and the smell of anaesthetics still brings uncontrollably tears to my eyes. It’s heart warming to watch how not to traumatize a child
First thing, calming music helps and glad he helped her through it. I am an adult and I cry when I get nervous at the dentist. From anxiety and fear of pain. So, I appreciate him for doing this.
It's the fact that he understands the fear off people when they're scared and paniced, and then actively cimbatsthat for you my dentist would never be like that she's so lucky to have a dentist like that What an angle
I wish all dentists were like that, the last time I went to the dentist which was like 1 month ago, it was a female and she didn’t even talk! She was holding my jaw so hard I thought it would break, applause to all the nice dentists out there👏
Omg, he is so kind and caring that it brings tears to my eyes. Growing up i was a shy kid suffering from anxiety and the only thing i heard from adults at the doctor or school or any other scenario that was stressful was to “stop being such a baby” and “suck it up”. As an adult this has hurt my relationships and i still have trouble opening up to people and i mostly withdraw when i’m having a hard time.
That's so sweet. My dentist had no idea I struggled with anxiety. One of my appointments, I started shaking uncontrollably which is usually the first sign I'm about to go into a panic attack. I told him what was going on and he was so understanding. He even asked how he can help and how it works so he would know what to do if other people had the same issue.
I have anxiety and a HUGE fear of needles and I have to get fillings and me knowing I’m going to have to get a needle I would not go in and I went into the dentist with a red face (because I was crying and I’m a ugly cryer)
I wish me and my siblings had a dentist like this growing up . Our local dentist was rude and not gentle at all. When my brother was 7, he went in for a procedure of some sort. When he was panicking about how it hurt, they literally put him in a straight jacket and kept going. Didn’t talk to him, just shoved him in a straight jacket and strapped his head to the table. This happened while me and my mom were out of the room, but I heard his crying and went in to make sure he was ok. I ran back out to my mom after seeing what they were doing to him and we pulled him out, mid procedure. The new dentist, (our current one) finished his procedure and is much gentler. They remind me a lot of you ❤
As someone with odontophobia, if I had had a dentist/ dental assistant like this growing up, I would hope it would have helped with the fear. I’m still afraid to this day, but I hope more dental professionals can understand the fear and help their patients calm down like this person seemed to.
I had a dental assistant be like this for me once, she held my hand, wiped my tears, and talked to me about big hero 6. I'll never forget her kindness💖
I'm a grown ass 31 year old adult and I panic, parents fault for not taking when when I was a child I've only just started going, need a hell of alot of work doing, but due to finances and my nerves it's all being done on my terms and when I feel ready but every dentist visit is usually for treatments now its mostly only the injections that make me panic now because that's the worst bit I tend to calm down for the rest

I was terrified of the dentist for years because my very first appointment at the dentist they tied me down. I was freaking out I was like 6 or 7 idk. But I was scared and being difficult. Instead of just rescheduling they literally strapped me down and when I refused to open my mouth they pinched my nose until I opened my mouth to breathe and they shoved something in my mouth to keep it open. It was traumatic. And I didn’t get over my fear of the dentist until I was about 14 or 15. I pray no one has to go through what I went through. Im so glad that man was very kind with her. Her dentist is amazing. He talks to her and shows her what he’s gonna use. The way he explains everything puts her a ease and calm her down. It’s a beautiful this to see.
I love dentists that act like this, it calms me down and truly go with their words. I once went to this dentist office and they where trying to pull out teeth, as you know it hurts and i was a kid, and i kid you not, this dentist held down my head and arm where i was almost falling out the chair, this dentist was also an old man. He was also rude to my mom because she was saying how it does hurt and how she feels my pain, and i actually felt a little better with her words, then the dentist started saying, that just makes it worse, and not helping at all. After that my mother was mad.(They had numbness stuff on my teeth but it wasnt working) We never went back to this dentist office. I do now have more anxiety going to the dentist because of this experience, Im happy with the dentist office i go to now, when i had to get the tooth pulled (originally supposed to be pulled from the other office) they turned on the mini tv moniter and put on a show and put pink headphones on me, and when i tell you i almost feel asleep, i did feel a little pain during it but, they told me the numbness would work and it did, they stayed true to there word, and made me relaxed during it and said i did good.❤ I also had a fear of getting teeth and shots lol (Sorry its long lol))

I used to get so crazy jittery when they injected the novocaine, that my Dentist said I was probably allergic to the epinephrine in the stuff.

What's the fear? I'm genuinely asking not being rude
I have it too😭 it’s really bad and my teeth are terrible because I refuse to go and genetic wise o did not win there for sure😩 it’s terrible because I know it’s dangerous for the whole health.

Trauma from dentist as a child carries on into adulthood. Thanks for talking to her. That helps a whole lot.
The longer the needle, the less pain you feel.
Same I'm 30 and have horrible trauma from dental offices as a child. I have to pay for sedation out of pocket for anything more then a cleaning/exam because my panic and anxiety is too bad.
45 and I start to have an anxiety attack as soon as I walk in the front door of my dentist office.

I was never scared if any dentist as a kid bx I had great teeth, but now in my 30s I've had tons of cavities prob half or more due to the methadone I was on, I'm coming off of it now though! But I'm also afraid if the dentist from 1 terrible experience ans panock attacks. It's crucial to have one u trust ans can be honest with. This guy is the DREAM DENTIST SCENARIO.

Took me20years! But I finally found my prince of a dentist….
Loved 🥰 endeavor to persevere ❤
This happened to me as well and I will never forget it cuz if I was able to I would have sued them for doing that and forcing my grandmother to help as well
i would be swingin

Yeah same I also had problems talking to teachers also mostly because of their attitude
They remind me a lot of you ❤
I cannot believe how often this happened. My uncle was held down during a dental procedure only a few weeks ago !!!
As someone with odontophobia, if I had had a dentist/ dental assistant like this growing up, I would hope it would have helped with the fear. I’m still afraid to this day, but I hope more dental professionals can understand the fear and help their patients calm down like this person seemed to.

It takes a special kind of doctors to treat children. My daughter gets scared when I have to bring her to a see a doctor in the ER or going to the dentist. Needles almost sends her in a panic attack.
I do now have more anxiety going to the dentist because of this experience, Im happy with the dentist office i go to now, when i had to get the tooth pulled (originally supposed to be pulled from the other office) they turned on the mini tv moniter and put on a show and put pink headphones on me, and when i tell you i almost feel asleep, i did feel a little pain during it but, they told me the numbness would work and it did, they stayed true to there word, and made me relaxed during it and said i did good.❤
I also had a fear of getting teeth and shots lol
(Sorry its long lol))
Please give me the address of your doctor or dentist

ABRO HE IS TRYING TO CALM THE CHILD DOWN
Haha 😄
As an autistic adult the dentist is STILL overwhelming to me and most dentists are still just not equipped to deal with crying patients at allll. Kid or otherwise. So thank you for being kind! 💖
Yes! Me freaking out at the dentist when I was 20 years, they just looks wierd at me😔
Is there many Autistic people that struggles with this??
For me it's actually painful tho, even if I get the numbing cream first and local anestetics, but it still hurts😔
Idk if I just always had amazing dentists, but I've legit never cried or seen anyone cry at the dentist. Even the kid ones rarely cried. It's so weird
Just giving a little extra time with a few words of kindness make a mere human become a Hero to the frightened patient.

Bro thats litrelly a kid...💀
You are so kind I wish we had such kind of doctors here😢❤
I like how he snaps them into reality before explaining everything thoroughly that way they are listening. Very kind hearted ❤
I love how doc connects with her calmly and finished nicely 👍🏽💯 #way to go!
Some people shouldn't be in the field they're in. I was terrified of dentists when I was young due to them just being dismissive of my pain and just telling me I have to suck it up. I would cry before we even got to the dentists office 😂. Till around 13 years old.. I met a dentist who listened to my concerns and pain and adjusted what he was doing accordingly. I now love the dentists office. I'm 22 now and get excited when it's time to see him. He's the best lol. A lot like you! :)
I'm just now realizing what i have went through was not normal reading these comments. I thought that is just how dentists act
I'm so glad I introduced my daughter to dentist at an early age, she isn't afraid!
she's since had braces now removed,
I know it hurts at times, she trust her dentist, the pain is fletting , one brave cookie ☺
This dentist: Look at me, I’m not going to hurt you.
My dentist: **aggressively slaps me**
Lol that's just funny
@@Alyssa-ld2go it's actually sad considering the amount of times cases like this have been filed. And small children were involved
😂😂😂😂
@@MyNeonTiger13 happened to me. I have a dental phobia now.
@@MyNeonTiger13 I was 4.
people should not work in healthcare if they are not willing to do this. this is the bare minimum and should be the standard for all of us.
bro they aren’t therapists. Yeah if they’re crying they should try to calm them down but this is def not the bare minimum
The fact that he did better than literal Dhhs workers just shows how much he cares ( dhhs for those who dont know is department of human and health services ) in my experience with dhhs it was for them worrying my home wasnt safe so the fact he did better than them mad props to him
