Hello my friend, you have done a great job on that clock, the delicate restoration of the case has turned out to be appropriate because you have left that antique spirit that must remain. I agree with restoring cases in that way as long as the customer agrees with it. Very nice job with the winding repair as well in your first video. Thanks for sharing your knowledge, receive a greeting from me, I'm Charly clockmaker and collector from Argentina, im still learning !!
Hi Chris, I used fine steel wood and Restora Finish. After this I removed all cracks in the varnish and the varnish. Really important just to remove finish and not damage the veneer. This where Restora Finish is important. Next I used a walnut stain from Minwax, which finished the clock beautifully. Let dry for a day or so, and then I gave it five coats of Minwax furniture wax. Result was beautiful. Gave the clock. beautiful Westminster 4 chime clock to my nephew and is new wife as a wedding present after I built a cedar transport case with a level embedded in the top. You've done an excellent job on that clock Chris. Super impressed with the full restoration from the earlier video, to this case restoration and the beautiful sounding chime. Brilliant.
Great job Chris… It’s beautiful and it sounds great I love those old Chimes..We used something very similar to that on our kitchen table with the steel wall and it works great👊🏻
Thanks Seth - yeah, I'm quite happy with the result and it still looks great. Old chiming clocks are awesome! I love the whole mechanical movement thing! 👍👊
I have used Howard’s Restore a Finish on a good number of clock cases with respectable results. I have tried it with 0000 steel wool and I think that is too harsh. I have, if the finish is worn from the hard edges, used a bit of stain to cover the bare edges then Howard’s the next day. Your clock came back very nicely.

Gr8 vid mate
Thanks mate 👍
The restor A finish did the trick. I have had good results on aged wood finishes with it. It sure does pong in an intense aromatic way.
Thanks Longship - yeah, definitely a well ventilated spot required!
I can hear them all singing engerland engerland!
So that's what that rowdy noise was! 😜🤣
I would have screwed the hinges on to the door before attaching them to the cabinet. Much easier!
Yep, good point Dave! Thanks mate 👍😊
👍
Thanks as always Hannah! 👍😊
