Love watching a proper tradesman at work being a decorator my self and also on the maintenance side of the trade you don't half see some crap. Not here though keep up the good work bud
The way he throws mortar is the modern way to insure a joints are full front to back. I am watching to improve my skills before putting up a three flue chimney from the roof to 50'. I have three to do on my 1886 Streetcar house.
Yes I used to be a Bricklayer as was my Father as was my uncle .There is a part of me that misses it... having said that I'm now living the dream in New Zealand and wouldn't lay bricks again if you paid me. Keep up the good work smudger
Hi bud I'm a student brick layer. Very new to the game. I noticed the odd 1 or 2 bricks were layed with the frog down. Is there a specific reason for this?
Cheers for that Vlad , only been doing it 40 years not quite got the hang of it yet, I don’t know anybody who can lay straight away , cheers for watching 👍👍
Guys I need some serious advise looking for a bricklayer. A guy as done some work for my mum and messed the wall up big time. What do I need to be looking at to know that they are actually a skilled bricklayer? as this guy was on Checkatrade and there's no way he's a professional.
Nice to see a brick layer taking great care in his work, there's too many rough and ready brickies around quality not quantity. If I was buying a house I would by one that you built it will stay up.Great video keep em coming. 👍👍👍
And acid burns on his skin. First thing to look for is a persons attitude to H and S . A macho cowboy who just wants to get the work done fast and takes all the short cuts ,I won't even entertain. Rather have a lad just out of training school who knows how to do the job to modern spec and carefully.
Good job bud I have to say this is a dying trade I've been doing Block & Brick for 30 years and have worked hard building my business and a good reputation as a good Mason but I am thinking about quitting because I cannot find laborers because he work is too hard nobody wants to work for a living anymore it will probably be a dead trade in the next 30 Years sorry to say
I’ve got a proper good lad at the moment he’s always first there in the morning apart from me ! works hard all day , always asking questions and taking it all in I’m going to loose him before long he will set up on his own and fair play to him!! I’m going to help him as much as I can! My retirement is fast approaching
Russell Mills you have obviously never laid a brick in your life, and the way you are talking know nothing about building, no shame in that, as you were.
Good neat work and a pleasure to see old school trowels getting on with business.
Nice one Ronnie we are old school Bricklayers, Norfolk old boys , thanks for watching 👍👍
Nice clean work ,full perps, pride in your job.
Gettin started is always the toughest part. You take the time to do it right. Rest of the job goes fine. Nice job bud!!
One way to tell a Craftsman without seeing his work? The Stabila level is a good indicator. Not many noobs are sporting a $300 level
Wrong. 110 bucks
@@PaddleDogC5 I just looked that up... I bought mine probably 25 years ago, and they were nearly 300 bucks then... Best levels going either way.

Proper old school 🙏teach some these youngest a thing or 2 and probably a smash up the ear hole for chatting back 🤙😂
Being old doesn't make anyone good , right, or know it all.
@@PaddleDogC5 Exactly right...and there's nothing fancy or we'll oiled about these two as some have mentioned.
Ignorance and arrogance go together
You my friend! key board warrior 😂

Excellent craftsmanship sir!👍 Please upload more videos like this was very interesting and enjoyable 👍👍🍺
Great stuff. Be nice to see more videos as the job progresses.
You joint your bricks the exact same way I do. Nice and full perps.
Means there's two bricklayers wasting time.
Nice work 👍
Yeahhhhh , at last traditionally laid bricks
Yes I used to be a Bricklayer as was my Father as was my uncle .There is a part of me that misses it... having said that I'm now living the dream in New Zealand and wouldn't lay bricks again if you paid me.
Keep up the good work smudger
what do you do now?
Hi bud
I'm a student brick layer. Very new to the game. I noticed the odd 1 or 2 bricks were layed with the frog down. Is there a specific reason for this?
Only did it like that in the footings to go over something, wouldn’t never lay them like that other wise, cheers for watching 👍👍🧱
Never seen someone do there perps like that but fair play
Lol great vid bud ! Ignore the armchair bricklayers, you obviously know what your doing 👌👍 new sub 🧱
👍
Who's arm chair I'm at it 50 years in a week. I knew not to do some of the things here over 49.5 years ago.
If u been laying less then 10yrs, I advice you not to tell them how things go 🤣
Cheers for that Vlad , only been doing it 40 years not quite got the hang of it yet, I don’t know anybody who can lay straight away , cheers for watching 👍👍

Ha ha had to laugh at arm chair bricklayer comments ~ but your showing how they use to set out no lasers 👍👍
As a bricky this was hard to watch, guessing your on day rate

Hey Bruce you tried whistling as you can’t sing😂🤣🥲😅👎
👍 nice video , this guy don’t fuk around lol lovely work , u make that corner setting look so easy 👌
As my Dad used to say "putting one on top of two".
Sounds easy doesn’t it!!! 10,000 hours before your any good at anything
Whty don't you lay your your beds narrower?
Just think lads, you could have been someone 🤣🤣🤣
😂😂👍
Using thermo blocks in the footings not a good idea they soak up a lot of water and will crumble after a few years
You in Agony all these little squeaks noises you keep making
Why don’t you wet the bricks before bonding them..? Maybe you did but didn’t show us?
Seeing this level of craftsmanship, I pretty sure he knows to wet the bricks.
REAL. BRICKLAYER, (. NO GLOVES. . .
Hes not afraid of rippin tights on a friday night. 😉😉😉. Propper gals like propper men

Always push mortar on your trowel with your hands? Must have some fried up skin at the end of the day.
Skippy the bush kangaroo....
Don’t suppose you’ve got any apprenticeships going lol😂

Good job but would not be fussed on them bricks below dpc👍
Great job but would love it if you used a tripod instead of the camera on your head.
I need some of this.
Nice work👌🏼 what language is this?
Proper old Norfolk boys 👍
Slow you down boi
What ratio mortar is that?
Looks like 3.25-3.5 to 1 from my eye
Far too complicated Jordan 4 to 1 at best , who would gauge out 3.25 to 1 ...should have gone to specsavers
Why is this 'experienced' bricklayer using porous lightweight blockwork below ground? No building inspector I know would pass that
Those lightweight porous blocks are called trench blocks ole pal the clue is in the name lol
Go and consult the building regs of Google Russell.
Russell Mills the voice of building 😂😂
Russell Mills you have obviously never laid a brick in your life, and the way you are talking know nothing about building, no shame in that, as you were.
Tap tap tap
Got sick of the camera movement..take it off ya head and lie be back
