I have the one with the roze gold bezel at home. I was seriously amazed at how good it is & how few people know about this seiko astron line. It has the same type of polishing as a grand seiko. My black bay & breitling just sit in my watch box now. Thats how good it is
Astrons are awesome, I prefer the older ones that don't have the intergraded bracelet. Thus I can have a SBXB011 or a SBXB015 by just swapping out the band for a bracelet.
Have You noticed that the date digit in the window is not always located in the center? It is often moved downwards/upwards very slightly, so that a very small fragment of the previous date's digit is sometimes visible. After a few movements of the watch, the date is perfectly centered again. This "problem" occurs when, for example, the watch is in a vertical position. The watch has not suffered any mechanical damage, etc. Is this normal for this model or perpetual calendar in general ?
Do the seconds hand hit the battons/markers on the dot every second ? Something that did not always happen in previous Astron’s on around 1/4 of the dial. How is it on this model ?
I prefer the older versions (on the 3x22 movement) as they look more discrete without the big buttons at 2 and 4 o'clock positions. Also as I understand it Seiko has now changed over to titanium for all of their Astron lines.
I had for a little while the "jet black" one,I bought it for £1380 from £1980. Such a great watch,design and finishing is really good, even the black(more of a charcoal) has a shimmer on it and super legible from all angles because of its super clear glass(zero reflections). The lume was very strong. Worth the price seiko priced it,definitely not. I sent mine back because the seller sent me a used watch which had a dent on its case. Seiko could decorate the case back. I will probably get the blue dial if on sale
Please help, I am about to sell my Astron because I simply cannot understand how the watch does it’s daily time adjustment automatically. I feel stupid walking around outside under the open sky waiting for it to happen. I have read the instructions. I’m tired of holding the button down to make it happen.

An Astron will automatically Set itself at first light, Sun light, thus it realizes it is outside and can grab a satellite signal or more. Nothing to do, just hope it can get signals. You can force it to sync by pressing the button above the crown until the second hand goes to 6, release, the second hand then will dance about displaying how many satellites it "sees", then tells you what time zone your in, confirmation of a received signal. Pressing the lower button will send the second hand to "Y" or "N", that would be the last attempt if successful or not. I have 5 of them and if I wake one up that has been "sleeping" for a while it will only be off by a couple seconds, until it goes outside.

It's absolutely not worth the price. It's also difficult to repair when the battery is empty. You'll have to send it for repair to Japan. It's going to cost you about $400. As I said, not worth the price.

It’s literally the most functional time keeper available.

I just bought this watch in Japan and I love it! I like how clear the glass is when you look at the face from the side it looks like there isn't even any glass. I like the lightweight design it is so comfortable. I like how the hours markers appear to be hovering over the face. Plus this watch is so easy that I didn't even read the instructions just pulled the crown and boom it set itself perfectly. This is my favorite watch now.

The best thing I like about this watch is how light weight it is. It is at least half as heavy as any mainstream Seiko or Tag Heur or Longines.
