It's really interesting how match ups work. Although Judith Wiesner never beat Steffi, there were a lot of 7-5 and 7-6 sets and a couple of three set matches. She gave Steffi more trouble than you'd expect from someone of her ranking. I suspect a lot of it was because she dealt with Steffi's slice backhand much better than most. Judith had career head to head leads over both Jana Novotna and Jennifer Capriati.

100 percent. Graf's game is very dependent on being able to put her opponents off balance with that slice backhand. She could run into trouble when she faced opponents who were not bothered by those low slices.

At 2:27 is even more impressive

It still amazes me how Steffi can hit a forehand winner down the line like the one at 2:23.....

Came here to say it! It seems to defy physics but I guess she just had a massively solid and strong kinetic chain? If I can use such coach-speak…

Unfortunately a few days after this match Steffi got injured and had to pull out from Atlanta Olympics. One very disappointing moment in her career 💔

@ I think only she can do the forehand the way she did? Martina N once said "dont try this thing at home, kids. that Steffi forehand is a wonderful thing but only she can do it"

Judith often put up strong resistance to Steffi. This makes for exciting rallies between the two. When they meet one of them, maybe today's players would have more direct and definitive strokes because of the power of their serve and their resistance at the back of the court. I'm not sure.
