Fantastic review! great job. Lived in Helsinki for a few years, I love the country. All the best from Sweden.
Thank you very much!
I have been doing street photography experimenting with longer lenses. I discovered that the American photographer Saul Leiter often used 150mm (35mm equiv). lens.
I did a bit of that but it can be interesting and worthwhile to try.
I have used both the 24 f1.8 and the 35 f1.8 for Sony FE and had no complaints as to the image quality. Price point considered these Samyang lenses are good value for money and also very light to carry around. The light weight comes of course from that plastic build and that is my only 'complaint'. And of course it would always be nice to have a separate aperture ring 😊
I agree with 40mm personally probably due to my long conditioning at that focal length. My first lens was the Panasonic 20mm on my GF1. It was my only lens and body for years.
Great review Peter, thanks. I generally use 28 to 40mm for street photography as it is possible to avoid pointing the camera directly at the main subject and focusing can be quite easy. Some really good images of the indoor market, this Samyang would be an interesting choice for travel photography to complement a 35mm.
Thanks. Yes this lens could be a second lens for those detail shots when travelling.
Seems a bit like the Sigma 56mm 1.4 on M43…
this sigma exist also for APS-C, still at 56 and it's not really like it, a bit more bulky, a little less sharp and of course f1.4 vs 1.8
