After all the mismanagement issues during construction, both ships look amazing which is testament to the workforce at Ferguson Marine, and of course, to the Scottish National Party, in particular to the courage shown by Nicola sturgeon for having the foresight to step in and save the yard from closure, when others in authority stood by and did nothing. Well done to one and all.
4 years later, and these 2 hulls are gloriously rusting to degradation, by an SNP government who declare they are conscious of the surrounding environment. These two fabrications stand as a magnificent BLIGHT on the proud, World renowned shipbuilding heritage of the Clyde. Forever the SNP'S shame and physical proof of Sturgeon and the SNP'S incompetence. 14yrs of failure... and counting!
The Sannox hasn't got any windows for the captain to see out. They painted the bridge windows on because they hadn't finished the work and the deadline approached. The poor ship is jinxed and still hasn't seen water almost 2yrs later. What a sad story for a once proud community on the Upper Clyde.
Painted on windows ? Are ye havin a laugh . Its more likely just the windows are covered up to stop them getting scratched or broken . Ye obvioulsy have no idea of construction . If there was no windows they'd have to cut out the steel where the supposed painted windows are and then put the glass in ....thats just daft min ..yoons have nae idea o reality .
@@rabbiehippo obviously fooled all of the media too then, as a quick look on Google comes up with a dozen or more media mentions of painted on windows, and fake funnels! I'm sure they don't say that about every newly built ship or ferry do they...just those that after 5 years of their supposed launch, are still in the ship yard!
Well, l have stood by several ship builds in the past . And even at the plating stage it looked iffy . The yard is very small ? Is that is all that is left of the amazing yards ? Nothing in Greenock and Govern ? All gone to krankies pals in Europe , what a shambles .
They've got to be doing some extensive interior work to her if current progress is something to go by. Her superstructure is almost finished externally, but the bridge still looks to be merely decorative and her car deck hasn't been fitted. The funnels were also a launch decoration. They've been placed to the side for now.
It’s really sad to see such a beautiful ship lying in the docks. First the balancing ball at the front of the ship was too big for the docks at Ardrossan, then the coronavirus, and now Ferguson Marine are in liquidation. She’s not even finished. I hope it gets finished but I really don’t want to see the Caledonian Isles go. I wonder if it will ever get built.
Almost 6 Years later and this ferry is still nowhere near finished , and the Scottish SNP Government are unable to say when it will be finished. What an advert for Scottish manufacturing.
She looks like a big Lego model in her unfinished state. Missed this today due to working in Glasgow, thanks for capturing it so well. As an aside, I noticed the old green ex supply ship that has been there for a very long time was moved last week. Would this be to free up space for the big ship to berth or are they finally shot of it?
I know that time has moved on but a thought occurred to me. If the ferry is still unfinished then money could be saved by not fitting lifeboats. Just a thought.
I served an apprenticeship in Fergusons in the 70's, best years of my life. I'll always miss the people at Fergusons, some of the laughs we had i,ll never forget. I will always miss the Port and my days at Fergusons. Really a shame that Thatcher destroyed the shipbuilding industry on the Clyde, especially the lower Clyde.
I was in the UIE yard (formerly John Brown's Clydebank) in 1983 fitting out two specialist jack-up drilling rigs. As part of the rig crew, we were criticised for working in the rain etc. It seemed that the name of the game was how to not get things done. The yard no longer exists thanks to the unions and the attitude of the work force.
10th May 2024 and the MV "Rust Bucket" is still not in service. The Americans put a man on the moon in the same time as the SNP commissioned, launched, messed around and............................???? this ship. It's not like the workers of the Clyde were outside of their comfort zone building 2 ships.
Was that the best bulbous bow they could come up with ? I bet the French and the Germans are laughing their heads off at our attempt at anything like heavy engineering. It beggars belief that we were once the world leader in shipbuilding and design. Ha ! since posting this I see she has had the bulbous bow replaced by a new one. I wonder why ???
Looking back at this it was always apparent that Sturgeon was just another vile politician seeking ways to glorify her image and satisfy her ego. Today the islanders on South Uist have been told they will have no ferry services at all for the month of June. Sturgeon and the SNP have no comprehension of the impact this will have on the lives and livelihoods of these islanders.

Fantastic quality and professionally created video. Well done Drone Man.
Michael Studden thanks 😁
Wonder if queen Nicola nominated herself to launch it, unbelievable that six years later it's still not finished.

It’s still here in April, 2021. The SNP is pathetic.
March 2022 and still rusting away costing the tax payer for the snp very high standard of incompetence !!

Great video Jim.....well put together. Sorry for the delay in watching, but things are a bit hectic in life at the moment
Thanks Jim. Hope everyone is doing well. Take care
Great video, all the more appreciated as we were out on river to watch but missed it all due to being launched 14 mins early! Gutted.

I've been watching (and hearing) her progress from the front window of my flat since I moved in in may, it's amazing to see.
That would make you 100 years old !!!!! pmsl

Drone Capture cheers phil
I had to watch this to check out the painted on windows and cardboard funnels.
Priceless 😂😢
Great video. Liked and subscribed! Keep it up.

roddyk05 yes they moved supply ship as Glen Sannox is getting fitted out there. Not sure where it has moved to
Can you drone view Kingston dock beside the Gallagher retail park in port Glasgow
My friend! how are u? Wow good footage.
KennyLee NYC doing well Kenny Thanks 👍
Fandabidozi.....and all who sail in her!
The buildings are much larger …..is that the difference ?
The snp despised Westminster can locally build the RN fleet and yet the snp cannot build 2 liw spec ferries !!!

Thatcher? We became uncompetitive, strikes, blackouts and 3 day a weeks is what destroyed our industry's.

@@sunnybnk i went for an apprenticeship at browns about 82. Luckily i never got it.
Nice to see all the workers got new ppi for the launch😂😂😂
My Granda helped paint and build that ship
he must have been 16 when he started painting it !!!!!
Wow its broken down so its at ferguson marine
Why is the Germans can build a cruise ship for over 5000 passengers plus crew in 18 months and to an agreed cost
Cheap Chinese steel, German machinery, cheap foreign mainly Romanian labour
The only thing Scottish about it is the location

I would delete that video .. it’s just embarrassing to all.. she has a cheek to launch that boat 4 years ago and we’re still waiting on it..

Aye just 10yr later and 400 mill over budget for a ferry ..what a disgrace of a country we live in .. 😂🤷👍🤦
crap shipyard compered to brooke marine in lowestoft now laid idle
@@neiltaylor8198 if you dont know how to build ferries, "crap" sound a justifiable description of the yard.
A disaster that sums up both Sturgeons and this ferry's career.
