This is one of the greatest groups of all time.Karen and Richard wrote some of the greatest songs of all time.
Karen’s voice will make you cry and the harmonies are absolutely beautiful.
I don't think fans today realize just how rare it was for a female drummer to also be a lead singer in the 70's. And Karen always considered herself to be a drummer who also sings rather than a singer who can play the drums.

It is wonderful to see young people finally discover the Carpenters. They created that incredible lush sound like a choir of voices. They are among the most talented and underrated groups of all time.
You can NEVER go wrong with a Karen Carpenter song. She had one of the most pure, perfect voices in the history of music. Sadly her life had a tragic end far too young, but we will always have the recordings of her wonderful performances to enjoy. Thank you for your reaction and best of luck with your channel!

Karen was my first celeb crush, I was 12 when they hit it big in 1969, she had the voice of an angel, could play the drums. To this day, my favourite female singer.

My mother used to sing this song to her babies, I sang it to mine too.
This song is all about when you meet someone you fall in love with fast. But you have no idea if they feel even one thing about you. So the realization and anticipation is killing you. And all those starts and stops, tease you. Nobody produces songs this way anymore . Everything is blasted away now.

I can't carry a tune but I have sang this song to my two children boy/girl, my Grand daughter and now I'm blessed with a GREAT grand daughter who, at two years old, appreciates her Nana singing this song.

This Burt Bacharach/Hal David song was Carpenters' first big hit, in 1970. Early in their career Karen was their usual drummer as well as lead singer...
Brings me back to my teenage years just love this song
I have been watching a number of these video's hosted by first time listeners of iconic artists, this one the Carpenters, others Neil Diamond, Billy Joel, Joni Mitchell, the Everley Brothers, Elvis and Simon and Garfunkel to name a few, these were the artists I grew up with through the late sixties right through the seventies, they are all true musicians, performing live, with not an autotune in sight, these are genuine superstars, I feel blessed to have grown up in their era, and I am heartened that younger people are tuning in to them, I love these video's, as they will keep the music of these artists alive long after they and I are no longer around.

Karen is probably one of the best singers of all time because of her ability to sing perfectly but also with so much emotion. She died of a broken heart and anorexia. Listen to 'Rainy Days and Mondays' so heart wrenching. I met her when I was young. A beautiful soul and person willing to stop and talk to a small boy at a park as her and her brother drove thru the area.

She’s very competent drummer. You’re not alone with your reaction as according to story the Beach boy Brian Wilson had to stop his car by the road just to listen to those harmonies first time!😳😲✌️The siblings just multitracked them all.👌
The composer was Burt Bacharach. For more upbeat you could try their version of Please Mr. Postman, that the Beatles revived in the mid sixties. Or do them both starting from the earlier version…😉
