Met him in a Miami airport bar I was managing at the time, about 10 years ago. He talked just like he does here, and he was polite and friendly, great sense of humor too. We even ended up arm wrestling on the bar top, I beat him, though he was strong as hell. A short, bald dude with a beard , his guitar player with the band he was playing at the time,( I forget the name), was making fun of him for that afterwards. Really cool guy, I have a picture with him from that day.

Round 2 cool! Phil Thank you for sharing your life history and sharing about beating your drug addiction! Still headbanging daily to your music in Missouri, USA! Take care, Jonathan
I totally feel him about coming off of methadone. One of the hardest times of my life. I was fully clean for a while but I've been on Suboxone for the last few years. Seeing people like him, clean off this shit, it's nice
hes a tough dude going through everything he did. methadone withdrawals are unexplainable to someone who hasnt experienced them. becuase its more then just physical pain its the emotianal issues that are almost worst in the long run. i wish i wouldve seen this before i ever tried any hard drug it probobly wouldnt have stopped me but i think its awsome how hes telling kids its just not worth it. i know alot of people look down on him but in my opinion he can be someone to look upto. not always tho lol but at times
Hey Phil! Man I still have my black, long sleeve Pantera t-shirt with Power Metal up one sleeve & Cowboys From Hell down the other that you gave me at Joe's Garage on Highway 80... Those were the good 'ole days...... Phil was such a crucial element that helped launch Pantera to the top of the mountain.... Phil's ego was the corrosive element that tore Pantera apart.
wow that's pretty bad. At least during the cowboys from hell - vulgar era he seemed normal. I just hope he stays away from drugs or he won't be around much longer
Thanks Phil, for your honesty and candor. As someone who's been in the same kinda predictiment, I couldn't agree with u more. Methadone was one of the hardest things that I've ever had to overcome. He's not exaggerating... You don't feel yourself for a year or two after completing the sickness part. Thanks for uploading and take care, Phil! Much love!!!! 😘😍
My injury was in 2009, I'm STILL trying to get my life back to normal. I even sought help before it got bad enough for me to start stealing or turning to crime to pay for my addiction, & it still ruined my life. Happy to say, I'm completely back to normal now, so a full health recovery is definitely possible people👍 The worst part for me was the bowel complications, the unbelievable pain from when your digestive system finally starts moving again.. That alone is more than enough to scare me away from relapse!

I know I had a very serious problem that no doctors were really helping me with so I took it upon myself to educate myself and now about three months later I'm feeling better than ever after suffering from sickness for about almost 2 years so I know you guys can do it. Don't be afraid to be lonely and don't be afraid to go through the pain because after time if you really start taking care of yourself you will feel better. As far as the weening down I think you should try to go cold turkey for as long as you can and then only ween down when you feel like you need to and then go cold turkey again and repeat and so on until you feel like you don't need it anymore but that's just my advice I have no idea what that's like.Good luck y'all and rock on. We can make our lives better, I know we can, don't give up.

Hey fellas, thanks for the comments.
Just wanted to let you know, from what a verrrrrrrrry good friend of mine told me, and I quote, "Dude, coming off suboxone was easy as shit compared to methadone.."
So fear not brothers and sisters....
I love you, and got your back vs. the hard dope plague!
Hail, and be cool-
PHA '15
+Housecore Records I've been on suboxone for a year now, I would love to get off of it but it beats the shit out of heroin,I almost died a few times when I was a junkie, Phil is such an inspiration .the guy has been through hell and back and is still standing tall "stronger than all"!!!!!!!
Holy fuck Phil Anselmo commented! I fucking love you man! Seriously though I ain't got it that bad and I hope you all make it through this. Just like you said man "There comes a time within everyone. To close your eyes to what's real" Fucking inspiration man! Fucking rock on for life Phil, you got this.
+Housecore Records HOWD YOU STOP THE LIQUID HAND CUFFS METHODONE,I THINK YOU WERE ON THE TABLET FORM YEAH PHIL?
"You want a cig?" "I dont smoke" "Me neither" Classic
He's one of the coolest dudes of all time. Seems like a cool dude to be in a band with.
I could just hear this dude talk, like he's a relative I never had. Thank you for being here, Uncle Phil.
Is he a gym/weights guy?
@@peternagy-im4be he's been into boxing his whole life and has said he trains a bit to stay in shape. He has met lots of the faous trainers and boxers from the 80s and 90s.
I find Phil to be pretty pleasant and down to earth here. What a cool interview, I would love to just kick it with Phil for a day.
Phiill such an honest guy we love you !!!!
My God. I have so much appreciation for Phil and his honesty.

DAMMIT PANTERA THIS BEER IS WARM
Damn it PanterA!! You respect your stepmother! Or I'll kick your ass!
Huh huh Justin Bieber sucks huh huh
GO TO YOUR ROOM PANTERA!!!
His name is Rodney Munch sir.
I love Phil’s voice. Shit I could just listen to him read the entire phone book and I will still be in awe.
And I`m from Dublin, born and raised, I remember when that gig was cancelled
Dude, I'm sorry you had to miss pantera.
Thanks man and it would have been amazing to see Pantera and Slayer and Morbid Angel. I think Static X was on it as well, it was the Tattoo The Planet Tour
+Joe Roche OMG man that would have been the best show ever too!
Joe Roche Was that 2001 Reinventing The Steel Tour you're referring to? Cause I saw them at Nassau Colliseum on that tour. Amazing.
Reinventing The Steel and Down 2 are masterpieces!
Literally no one:
Phil: "It was like an inferno of ehhh sealife"
I love the long pauses he does between sentences, really adds tension in his voice
Great chemistry between interviewer and phil.... That's why its so fun to watch ...
The genuine tone of that mans voice nearly brought me to tears. My goodness
Phil is the man.
Sick as hell.
And a smart man.
La voz de Phil es tremenda! Super profunda, lo amo!
Phil seems like a pretty nice, and down to earth guy.
I can listen to him all day. I like his stories and the way he tells them. He is funny too.
Much love for Phil Anselmo!!
5:46 “get down with the sickness” vocal cover by Phil Anselmo 🤘
Phils Wikipedia fact or fiction episode is gonna end up having like 20 chapters..😂😂😂😂 Much love Phil always...#CFH. RIP DBD & VP
It's great to see how Phil has changed for the better and his health.
Phil is the realest, coolest dude in rock and roll. Probably my favorite frontman of all time! He's so wise too goddamn he's awesome
Phil is so awesome. Although I do want to eventually get a hug from him just to see how big his biceps are in real life.
Phil should do a spoken word book for insomniacs, I feel the kiss of coma coming on. Good stories though.
Round 2 cool! Phil Thank you for sharing your life history and sharing about beating your drug addiction! Still headbanging daily to your music in Missouri, USA! Take care, Jonathan
Phil has the best voice ever
You are still with us!
Need to do a fact or fiction with Henry Rollins
He would just call him son an tell him he is stupid
some of gruhameds bodyfat got transfered to phil since the last interview
Phil is actually very funny and most people overlooked that.
the chemistry between graham and phil is just fantastic. metal master and sidekick!
"Last one for you."
*shakes head and looks around confused*
Love it.
I totally feel him about coming off of methadone. One of the hardest times of my life. I was fully clean for a while but I've been on Suboxone for the last few years. Seeing people like him, clean off this shit, it's nice
I like when he says "ugly" on 2:43!!!
hes a tough dude going through everything he did. methadone withdrawals are unexplainable to someone who hasnt experienced them. becuase its more then just physical pain its the emotianal issues that are almost worst in the long run. i wish i wouldve seen this before i ever tried any hard drug it probobly wouldnt have stopped me but i think its awsome how hes telling kids its just not worth it. i know alot of people look down on him but in my opinion he can be someone to look upto. not always tho lol but at times
Yeah, nobody is all good or all bad. He is good to be straight up about hard drugs and addiction. Sucks that he shared his evil racist side though.
@@morebsnstuf evil racist side? You really are an idiot
3 commercials before he finished his second sentence, and I can't even blame UA-cam, it's been weeks.
I would pay solid money for an app that would have Anselmo read me bedtime stories or meditations.
He’s totally spot on about how you feel while going through Methadone Detox
wow.... you gotta have a shit load of patience to listen phil talk
+Felipe Mercado I remember him talking a lot faster in his younger days
+axeshredder02 ive met him back in ozzfest 2004, he was actually worse back then...
wow that's pretty bad. At least during the cowboys from hell - vulgar era he seemed normal. I just hope he stays away from drugs or he won't be around much longer
+axeshredder02 he got clean for a little bit, seem he fell in to relapse once again
+Felipe Mercado like your grandpa telling you a story when hes drunk
He has changed so much i met him and He's really chill.
Happy to say, I'm completely back to normal now, so a full health recovery is definitely possible people👍
The worst part for me was the bowel complications, the unbelievable pain from when your digestive system finally starts moving again.. That alone is more than enough to scare me away from relapse!
Now every time I spray air freshener I say, "For Danzigs!"
I dig Phil man. He looks like a fun and chilled dude to hang with.
