It's part of the EBU (European Broadcasting Union), that's why Israel is in Eurovision. (And why many other nations in northern Africa and the middle east could participate as EBU members, but because Israel participates, they do not).
Here in America, supposedly the land of the free, there is quite a bit of censorship at musical events. They don't like songs like "All Along the Watchtower" by Bob Dylan or "Sign of the Gypsy Queen" by Lorance Hud (famously covered by April Wine) because they're considered antiwar songs. I was physically attacked for my original antiwar songs, "William's 'Lectric Shave" and "Laughing" and suffered serious injury, to wit a broken hip. Don't let anybody tell ;you America has free speech.
I mean, let's be honest, if it wasn't for the illegal invasion of Ukraine, Ukraine would not have won the contest last year. The UK would have won. Eurovision is highly political.
It was the people who voted out of pity. This does not happen every year. But how exactly should they have stopped this? Rig the votes? Or go to each viewers home and force them to vote for another song?
If it wasn’t for WWII, Eurovision would not have existed... If your Mom had kept the baby she had aborted before you, you wouldn’t have been born. Your logic is infantile and doesn’t make sense.
But that's the essence of Eurovision: it's always a reflection of the Zeitgeist. Britain also got a sympathy boost for its support of Ukraine. Would the UK really have won? We just don't know. In 2018 "Non Mi Avete Fatto Niente" was arguably the superior song, but "Toy" reflected the sentiment of "Me Too", which is also part of the reason why it won. One should also point out that neither Netta nor Kalush Orchestra were sh*tty acts. Point being: Eurovision never takes place in a vacuum.
@@meckerhesseausfrankfurt4019I still don't get it why lots of people hated the song "Toy"? I mean I get it that she is just mumbling some words but that song was energetic
It is more logical to sell Eurovision rights to an rich gulf Arab state and make it permanent in there. It would make easier people to travel those countries due to relaxed visa regime and they are rich and secure enough for international visitors. It is better than putting burden to European tax payers every year.
All of arab countries are muslims, music is consider haram by some plus nudity and lgbt and israel and libreal ideas all of them are taboo and haram and illegal in most of arab countries so for this no arab country will host it
@Gabriel well let’s move it to Singapore or Israel then. It can be any developed country in any continent with an relaxed visa regime and put all the burden on that country rather than letting European politicians scam its citizens for an event that has no economic benefit. The benefit of events like Olympics,Eurovision or Winter Olympics are only benefiting either management board of those events or shady politicians whom benefit from commissioning the construction projects to d multi billion construction companies.
The choice of saying only Australia is from outside Europe and NOT ALSO the Israel State (Not a place in the European continent) is so political you should have mentioned it too....
The reason why UK got 2nd last year is cause it was a great song. Earlier years have been trash
Israel not even located in Europe.
Isreal is better, what about Australia
The yt people wanted it
But they have European look

It's more to with the broadcasting network, as mentioned in the video.

Azerbaijan is the most east european country to host and to spent eurovision but what cost? 176 million $
Cha cha cha! Winner according to the people!!
America sad because it’s something fun they’re not invited to
i’m a big fan of CNBC’s Karen Gilchrist 😃
7:06 Damascus Gate is in Jerusalem not Tel Aviv. Though the Israeli capital has hosted Eurovision twice, in 1979 and 1999.

Eurovision is highly political.

politics is usually not allowed unless it is against russia then it is welcomed.
Eurovision shows rhe personality of the EU
I wonder what the European tourists think of the Liverpudlian spice addicts

@Gabriel well it is Eurovision with Asia pacific and North African countries able to join and compete. So? It is an global event not Eurocentric

Israel is within the European Broadcasting Area which allows them to be in the EBU and thus Eurovision. Same with Egypt and Morocco for example
Apartheid israel is NOT part of Europe >_>
