- I wanted to play a little Sonic R so of course after getting it working i took cheat engine to it and Sonic Retro has file formats and memory addresses documented. the problem is the ones listed did not match 1 to 1 with what i was getting so after finding ones in each section i was able to offset and find the correct addresses, but that means tiat there's work that has to be done to make a table of everything. so i decided to have some fun and changed whats labeled as Amy TopSpeed and Amy Acceleration and with the 999 rings she was really flying so i took the opportunity to brush up on my Sonic R Skills. hope you enjoy.

Amy is always Top Tier. I'm just wondering if Sega will ever finally nerf her, she's constantly used in the Sonic R Meta-game, and it really gets annoying when I go online and race 4 Amy's in a row, followed by some kid as Tails Doll (because _"ooh,_ Tails Doll is _so_ scary!"), then another Amy.
Ban Amy from Sonic R competitive.
I have the same problem, only with Eggrobo. Now that is a character that nobody can touch. Even Amy has trouble against the might that is Eggrobo. Unfortunately if he ever got nerfed, fans would probably be upset and riot.
sadly, you're right, I remember my sister always picking Amy in sonic R, and wins all the time, I had no choice, but to collect the 7 chaos emeralds.

apparently, there's a fan-made updater that fixes it to work on windows 10 without issues. either that or find an iso of the rare 2004 version somewhere.

This actually is the 2004 version. The updater updates the 1998 version to the 2004 version. Since its no longer the 1998 version that is likely the reason the addresses didn't initially work. The documentation on Sonic Retro was most likely made from the 1998 version. It's still pretty cool that your basically converting it to the 2004 version.

Is this the 1998 version? I have the 2004 version, and also use Cheat Engine on it. I have the addresses for the character of each player, along with the values for each character. With these, I can force a specific character on a certain player, and therefore play with character selections not normally possible, as seen in my last few videos.
i installed the 1998 version because that's the disc i had, but i used the fan-made updater that converts it to the 2004 version and gives it better support for enhanced resolutions like 1080p
I also installed the 1998 version and used the patch. Just today, I got another disc which appears to be the 2004 version. Did you record this in 1080p in fullscreen? I only get 640x480 in fullscreen, so I had to do my recording while playing in a window. I'd also like to see someone beat Super Sonic with Amy on hard! I tried and failed miserably! :)
the Sonic R Mod loader has those patches to run at 1080p and proper controller support.
The system is definitely switching to 640x480 resolution when running Sonic R in fullscreen. I currently have the Sonic R mod loader set to 1024x768, scale to screen, and force 4:3 aspect ratio. I do get 1024x768 when running the game in a window. I do not have the "Run in 640x480 screen resolution" compatibility setting enabled.
You need the Mod Loader to run it at 1080p.
