Entering the locks is fishing boat SM47!! That was the number on my boat in the 1960s, a Worthing fishing boat named "Thrifty". She if fond memory, ended her days on Brighton beach! Safe sailing one and all!!!
Thanks for your great videos. I particularly found this one very interesting as sailing through the Looe channel and also into Shoreham have been on my list for years. A double whammy!
It’s industrial, but I like that sort of thing. There is a lovely bar on the marina. Plus the chandlers is an ‘old school’ place that has everything for the discerning boat owner. It’s definitely worth an overnight stop. And is a contrasting alternative to Brighton
Thanks for posting! I've never been there but have been considering sailing there for a while. The lock entrance and the exit seemed a bit narrow or was it the camera angle? BTW your video production is excellent!
The lock entrance definitely feels very narrow when approaching at low water. The large fishing Cat that came in behind us was probably the beamiest vessel that could use the lock - but she was about twice the beam of Confidence, so in reality its plenty wide enough. It is vital that you call ahead to book a visitors berth. The marina staff have to inform the lock keeper for security reasons... and 'if your names not down, you're not coming in'.
Hey Simon I'm going to assume. The lock is quite narrow but easily maneuverer-able. I've gone in quite the number of times because that Is where I am moored.
