You made a mistake. Typical chess/checker boards, always have the light square in the right corner !

Upper right corner or lower right corner. Also, with a wood and epoxy, which would you consider a light or dark? I actually did research on this and could not find a definitive answer. Thank you for the comment as I strive to get my details correct.
