So my first exposure to this industry I was taught to use Meguires, and since then I've done some good, some great, some not as good, but I've always used this spray. I can't express how glad I am to have come across your channel. I mostly have done them free for my friends because I wanted to PERFECT the craft before I go full pro on it. 3 years later my best restorations still look as good as when I did them. And even though the person said "Wow!" I watch your videos and realize I COULD DO A LOT BETTER. Thank you for making these very transparent videos bro. You're teaching us a cheat code to success. Hats off my man
MIND BLOWING….i sanded all the yellow off, down to super fine ( 5000 ) then buffed with plastic polish and was worried all the micro scratches would show up after spraying….I WAS AMAZED….this stuff went on just as described on the can and my lenses look BRAND NEW! If made all the fine scratches disappear like magic.
Did this to a 24 year old truck that I couldn't tell when the lights were on vs off. Used the 3m Ultra restoration kit discs + the Meguiars headlight coating. Worked great! Now looks like a 24yo truck rusting out around a brand new pair of headlights.
Thanks for the guide!
Great vids and information...!!! Would you recommend applying Meguiars clear headlight coating to brand new headlight assemblies?
I am wondering the same thing
Now that I watch a video I can duplicate the same process and get my headlights looking like brand new. Thanks for the tips.
Of course you can... That's what this videos are about there's over 130 videos up and streaming on this channel that show perfect results at the end... Same method pretty much on every video the proof is in the pudding could definitely do it..
First question i make watching lots of yours videos.
1. Can you just do multiple coats instead of spraying the headlight coating on the way you do it because the way you spray it you already learn how much to spray, and im a newbie. 2. Can i just do like 4 to 5 different layers i mean im not doing to be fast im doing to make it last to only my cars. Spray one layer, then spray after 5 min, and then spray again until i do it to where it has enough coats to look great and more coats not just two like you said in the video?
3. Last question why isnt you videos going viral your work is the best.
Lolol disregard my comment on last video. This video answered it right off the bat. Good stuff bro. I wish you were in my city I would hit you up for a paint restoration. Everything else I trust myself with. Because what I don’t know I can learn from videos like this. Thank you.
Damn lmao awesome video man. Didnt expect to end up watching this, was just trying to find out if I can drive before the Meguiar’s fully cured
it says 1 year coating but me living in the uk we dont realy get much sun does that mean it will last longer than 1 year?
Awesome! Do you clean the final polish compound off with any type of cleaner or just the micro fiber cloth?
No just a microfiber towel...(advised not to touch or deal with it the next 24 hours but you can use a microfiber towel to wipe off)
@@theheadlightrestorationpro Thanks brother!
@@theheadlightrestorationproyou don’t use a alcohol wipe before coating ? I always wipe with glass cleaner
I usually use the Meguires. Using the 2x or 2 k clear seems like a mistake. I have seen a product on UA-cam called Masterson's paint sealer with UV blocker. The guy wiped the "Masterson's headlight restoration on a Mercedes SL55" paint sealer on and then he buffed it off 20 minutes later. Thanks for the info on the video.
Yeah this is definitely the way whatever guy put paint sealer on the headlight probably shouldn't be using anything that's not designed for headlights that's the best bet for anything you got to use what is for what it is. . People thought you sheetrock for flooring or roofing... They use it for indoor walls... Because that's what it's made for... People don't use transmission fluid to run their oil or vice versa even though you can do it for a little bit the specifically designed for each specific task for a reason and the reason why I bring this up because if you do any of these flip-flops it will work but you will have drastic issues down the line or functioning issues.... So why would you purposely do that to your headlights because it's the same category...
7:57 Because 2k clearcoat is actual clearcoat like what was on the factory.... and has UV blockers and lasts years, not a year.
If it is flaking off it's likely that polishes or other oily substances were used and soils the bond of the clearcoat.
Given my current circumstances, I can't currently afford a second tool for polishing. I do have the attachments to stick the buffing pad to my drill. Would this work just as well?
will a push lawn mower mow an entire foot ball 🏈 field....?
Maybe so but never as good as a giant sit down lawnmower....
Will a shovel dig an Olympic swimming pool out ?
Maybe so.... But a couple tractors would do it so much. Bet it's insane. ..
So not really...
Basically take a lot longer and you still wouldn't get the desired effect...
You need heat to hit this level...
See this video...
ua-cam.com/video/h-8BKUEVGRY/v-deo.htmlsi=VMSQRJPR-fzsbaR5
Would heating with heat gun while you use your regular drill get the same affect?
Hey man…i got an 2005 lexus es330….not sure the headlights where ever refinished, coated or what not but there still clear looking like the car was garage kept plus i have been waxing them and ceramic coating them for the last two years i owned it..just have some oxcidation or rough spots along the edges…i was thinking giving them a polish with Megs plastic polish then hitting them with Megs headlight clear coating…does that sound good enough or do you recommend a full sand job like what you did to this car?
Would it be overkill to put ceramic coating on top of the clear coat after the coating hardens?
No I would personally never do this... It falls under double coating... You going to interfere with the way your headlights project the actual light...
You should never use more than one coding ceramic is called ceramic coating because it's a coating....
Aftercare is the proper method which almost works as a thin film which is not a coating that fills in little tiny microscopic pockets that start the breakdown of the clear code and provided thin layer of protection from the Sun and or impact you can't put any kind of coating on the headlight without some kind of drawback...
I have a question about Meguiars restoration kit I'm about to use..
The kit doesn't come with sandpapers. Though it doesn't say you have to use use sandpaper. Hence the it says on the box 2 steps restoration. Oxidation remover and clear coat spray..
Do i use sanding for better results? Or do as it says?
I don't use that kit ...
Unless your headlight is barely hazed (as in almost not hazed at all), you’ll almost certainly want to use sandpaper. If it doesn’t come with it, you’ll need to provide your own
hi, how many headlights can you do with a single can?
About 3 to 5
ua-cam.com/video/1YCVKzBkNyE/v-deo.htmlsi=TuFD59Vdsi-UYlxl
@5:40 there's no explanation/tag on screen but are you simply putting on another P800 disc? And why? Also I see no need to manually sand, the power sander will be doing far more work than by hand surely. In your list of items beneath the vid you also have links to a 3M P220 and P320, but these don't appear in the vid, are those just for really badly fogged/cloudy headlights?? Would be good if the whole process was explained at the start, ie start with P500, then P800 etc. Great vid though cheers
Wonder if Meguiars would be good on my plastic wind screen on the airplane? Will it mess up the paint if you get some on it?
It's cheap enough, buy a can a tape off a small square (6"x6") in the corner to try it.
Where are you located? I was wondering if you can guide me or give some thoughts on my particular issue on my 2021 Acura RDX
I'm located on UA-cam that's where I do those things...💯🥷🏽
I have a 2021 RDX Aspec. The headlights are in pretty good shape except that they have some minor scratches and the drivers side has two spots that are showing hazing. I want to know what I can do to either maintain/contain the current condition OR would a minor restoration be adequate. Wish I could show you pics. instead to make an educated assessment.
@96Ferno I have just a thing for you.. check this out...ua-cam.com/video/kIur4XxYjDk/v-deo.htmlsi=brnTlxbQZYcnHcy-
What about cromax 2k headlight clearcoat?
What grade of sand paper do you have to use
It's all over every video and in the bios it's even all over this video... It literally tells you and writes it out on the screen and in the bio..
Great great explanation
And there's a lot of other things that I did not include in this video maybe in the future video but there's many more other reasons why this is superior and why there's some flaws in their instructions and in their perception of longevity...
Wonder what you think, 400 grit as wet H'LIGHT as frosty this morning and headlight was iced up wet..... onto 800, then Triz3000 and then left all headlight polish of which have 3 at home, went with a soft pad, generic compound. Also forgot the UV gel out a TCUT cheapo headlight pack. So I just cut ..... 3M'd and polished generic medium cut compound. All this not ideal.... Couldn't finesse the job as 1c in Celsius - I've headlight clear coat but haven't used it yet UK so cold. Job was about 85% ok, only spent 12-15 mins per headlight with frozen feet, rather 20c and 30 mins a headlight and spray them up finish @@theheadlightrestorationpro
@zzhughesd 👍🏽
On an average, how many sets of headlights can you do on one can of Meguiars ?
Is the Meguiars "self levelling" ?
Of course
Will McGuires overspray harm bodypaint?
dont you have to protect the paint with garbage bags or some plastic before applying the meguiars clear coat? it looks like its going all over the place
The cussing is @ no extra charge 🤔🏆😆👀
😂🤣😂🤣 Free....
Sanding yet again why not just come out with a spray you put on without all the sanding !!!!
I always heard it call cya.
What's that?

Home boy you talk to much. You should be on infomercials. It's not that difficult. "Using my methods". Wet sanding works too.
That was my exact thought. I'm like... Bruh get to the point of the video title
I was going the path of a 2K clear on my sisters headlights, found your videos, picked up a meguiar's kit with the headlight coating, did the restoration & sprayed the stuff on and WOW!! They look better than new. Thank you.
Awesome just think it would have been even better if you did my method they would have came out like my videos..💯👍🏽
@@theheadlightrestorationpro maybe he forgot to polish.. hopefully he did a single coat of M's
This lasts about 1 year I'm told .
@@theheadlightrestorationpro hey dude im in the uk, just so im understanding right your method is 600g sanding all the way to 3000g then polishing compound then meguires headlight spray?, thanks
@fartpooboxohyeah8611 is he using the mgrires or 2k clear?
me me me me me me me me me me.......dude you talk to much. do the job, get paid and shut up.

If yiu have nkt tried look under the microscope at results and sylvania clearxoat does a slightly bettee job woth the coating. Wouldnt knkw about the pads 3m seem the best but you are clearly grear at what you do. Figured i might try to help you since you seem to jnkw what your doing
Sylvania is not that good....
SYLVANIA COATING IS NOT A GOOD COATING..
Especially compared to Meguir's coating....not even in the same class...
This is a PROFESSIONAL telling you this... someone who DOES MORE HEADLIGHTS IN ONE DAY THAN YOU'VE EVER DONE..
And also what are you trying to help me with ?
I'm confused ....
I had to decipher your writing as best I could..🧟♂️🧟♂️🧟♂️🧟♂️
Clown 😂😂😂😂
This video could have been three minutes! 😢
yes it could. and it’s not his method it’s 3m headlight restoration kit step by step to a T except he finishes with meguiars spray
@@marambulaGo ahead and watch a 3 minute video then. Since your time is so valuable
You list the 3M kits, do you ever use those wipe on clears then apply the spray? Also I notice the spray advertises it protects up to one year (according to their tests). Do you need to reapply it later, and if so is the process the same?
I was about to start renewing my headlights. At the beginning I saw 2k videos everywhere, but in Europe 2k 3680061 is not available / available under a different name on the German market. I finally found your video about 2k products, and I also watched a video from another creator (channel OSREN Official), you can see there that after applying the coat it becomes "milky" under the microscope, but there are actually fewer scratches. However, it follows that the coat he puts on limits the outgoing light (but he put 2 layers not 1). The Junky DIY guy channel presents several ways to protect the lamp after polishing. Finally, he chose ppf foil. It's a pity that he didn't show the camera how transparent it is under a microscope, but most of the "detailing" companies I looked at in Europe protect the lamps after polishing with ppf foil. Of course, good quality ppf foil, e.g. CarbonQ, and not cheap ones from Amazon or Aliexpress. I think I will go this way and finally protect the lamps with foil, but your method also seems to be correct. It would be nice to see under a microscope what it looks like, comparing your method and good quality ppf foil.
Cool man...

Hi, I am following up another kind of long comment. Here you answered the question about number of coats. After you finished sanding you did some buffing with the same buffing pad I happen to have. Was it only water you dabbed on before buffing?
You held up some olive oil for a second? I’m not sure if that was used to buff, or another thing not to use? All I need is a microfiber towel and some 3000 grit paper. My Volvo is the 8 cylinder version and it should run for another 150-200K miles. To use your analogy, I want to make the cake as perfect as possible before the cherry goes on? I’m curious if the maguires coating has instructions on how to keep the nozzle from clogging up until it’s needed again? I know many types of spray coatings say to turn the can upside down and spray for a few seconds to keep the nozzle from clogging up during storage? Thanks again! Jeff
It does not clog... It will never clog....

See wverything was going good until you said no one make headlight better than you
I have a headlight where only a little bit of the clear coating is coming off from the top. Can i tape off the rest of the light just sand where its peeling then compound polish and coat?
No I don't think you can I could do it but I don't do it because different things happen somebody who's not on my level is going to have a hard time blending it to where it it's not noticeable I don't even do it just because the physics of it doesn't work what will happen is the border along the lines of the stuff that you did not remove will start going bad before the stuff you replaced and a light will look really weird....
Perfect, my daughter's 2008 Buick lacrosse head lamps look new on an old car. the Meguiars headlight coating works better than other products and methods. Thanks.
why do I need to spend nearly 30 minutes of my time for a vid
That could be three minutes
The term you’re looking for is empirical evidence, it’s what you have that the guys that made the Meguiars clearcoat don’t have. 👍
Yes exactly... Empirical evidence is exactly what I'm speaking of.....
🤓😁💯
The other product was called NextGen ? Not sure you have heard of it or quality . But it was 30 a can and the cans are small. Also it seemed to me that their method is just sanding and no polish and then spray . Seems to me polishing is a must but I know their method saves time
Nice vid! Not sure if you know this or not, but Acdelco has a 4 amp battery! Got one for my polisher and I love it cuz you can actually stand up the polisher now. I have like 4 of the smaller ones too but just wanted to let you know
Yes I've seen them before little bit more longer power supply, bigger.. don't have any as of this point if I try them later I just really enjoy the balance the way it is now...

You can't handle the truth. 😂 I said it.
@fn1morbid 😁😁😁
it lasted a year on my car and then worst than before
My man, 09:34 it ain't bragging if you can do it ;-)
Going with one heavy coat, do you still need to worry about runs, since it’s technically melting into it? Just picked up my first can of it, so no experience with this product whatsoever. Thanks!
Okay you don't want to think of it melting into it it's more of a self leveling.. which means it kind of forms a nice shell but yes if you spray too much you will develop drips so you really want to pay attention on this part... You have to have the proper speed the proper distance and the proper method.... I don't get the runs because I stopped at the proper timing... If you do too much it will happen every once in awhile it happens to me you have to pull away but you see how much I lay down..
Is this a job that you do full time or is this like a side business you do ? And is it possible to make a great income out of restoring headlights ?

Have you ever used the Meguiars heavy duty headlight restoration kit? (the yellow box one) It includes a tiny bottle labeled "headlight coating" which claims to protect from UV rays. The kit instructions say to apply it to the included gray sponge, dab it on the headlight, and I guess that it is supposed to act as the clearcoat? This coating only lasted a year when I used it on some headlights. Meguiars does not sell this product outside of this kit, so I kinda wonder... what exactly is that coating? Could it be the same product as the Meguiars "keep clear" headlight coating, just in a squeezy bottle?
Not sure I've never actually used that kit.. believe I have one in the garage have all box of kits that I'm supposed to be reviewing but just got tired of doing them... So not sure..
I have noticed that plenty of Tundras and Sequoias have internal hazing and fog in their headlights. Its very annoying when I can't fully restore them.
Yes they have a softer bass headlight... But these go bad and people keep them bad for far too long I'm talking three or four years without restoring sometimes they develop a permanent Haze within the headlight structure the actual polycarbonate.... This is what kind of what happened with one of my most popular videos...
Polishing is a sham....

Ive done probably 20 sets of headlights and my first step is NEVER that quick and/or easy. Any tips on that? Most of my customers have German imports so pretty hard lenses.

I actually want to go with the one that I'm using on my latest videos which is the backup one... The 18 volt brushless HD... It's much more smoother and lighter.... Comparable RPMs and torque...
Definitely that one..
Thank you for checking out those links... hopefully you purchase through them..🤓👍🏽

Can I use the meguiars headlight coating after using the Sylvania kit with the uv coating?? or should I just use the meguiars coating instead of the UV coating?
don't combine the two brands. According to him, don't even do two layers of the same brand. I agree with him on that, my kit says do not layer.
If I can afford the delco drill can I use my dewalt impact drill?
No.... Needs to be a polisher... The motion is speed and all the parameters are extremely different and impact will do nothing....
😂😂😂
🤣🤣🤣
I did the same work on my headlights using meguiars Plastx and the headlight coating spray. All was ok after the work was done but next day one of the headlights didnt look as clean as the other one. Can I still repeat the process to get it to clean better0 even after i have added the coating?
Well you didn't do what I say do on the videos you pretty much just said in your sentence or paragraphs that you didn't do what I say to do if you don't do what I say to do using what I do it's not going to come out the same... Being that you use something that is the lowest form of product out there for that genre of product tells me that you didn't listen on the other steps as well so I can only really help with what I do on this video one little variation changes everything...
Would you prep new lights before using the Meguiar spray or would you just spray it directly on? The reason I ask is because I'm going to install new lenses on my headlights soon. In my experience, the OEM lenses are always better. The aftermarket ones always start to peel soon as in 6 months to 1 year. I would like them to last longer and figured it would be easier to prevent some of this rather than later.
Where are you located ? We would like to use your service can you send a link to your business?
I don't operate business off this page in this form... I'm far away from you the chances of you being where I am and this is a worldwide platform is like an email and a haystack so sorry...
I had this on 3x speed and i was still bored, a lot of talking without saying anything. How many times did you say "we're not going to go into the details" about this or that... Then why on earth is this video 25min?? If you knew what you were talking about it wouldn't take 25min of repetition to make a point.
I’m not sure if the year (maybe around 2014 - 2016), but the accords have an internal haze very often that develops. Have you noticed that?
Some times.... Is Hondas and Toyotas are prone for it with the softer pitch they are better headlight but unfortunately if somebody leaves them on service for too long where they just continue to road to the point where there's almost no clear code left and just stay there for years you get a internal fog of the actual polycarbonate on the cellular level which means the clear polycarbonate has changed to that foggy structure like you I'm talking about...👍🏽💯
It sucks all you can do is the best you can do and work with what is given to you...
@@theheadlightrestorationpro I figured this part out on my own, but you should cover burn marks for content. When I see them, I always tell people that their lights have been foggy for too long and the light has no where to escape so it beams directly on the inside of the headlight cover creating a permanent burn mark. I use a magnifying glass analogy when we would burn things as kids using the sunlight.
@ShoeHefner757 that's creative...lol
Basically it's LED hid burn..... And there's already a video on that about a year ago...
Like you said that the orb in there is a magnifying glass to help protect the light which over long term exposure creates a bird on the inside of the headlight usually have a crescent shape of some sort.....
There's a link to that video I already did about that. Although it is in other videos like this other one...

As someone that paints RC cars, which are made out of polycarbonate, you use polycarbonate paint on them. Nothing else. The polycarbonate paint infuses into the polycarbonate plastic, hence why it sticks so well. They don't need a "keyed" surface.
146,000 miles and 11 years in Arizona and my headlights still look brand new. never been touched. See others 3 years old and they look terrible. Some manufacturers make cheap headlights. kinda wish they would start fogging so I could polish down the stone chips.
I just purchased a 2025 Camry XSE, how do I keep the headlights looking clear over time?
What do you charge for headlight restoration in your area?

So you don't do a IPA wipedown after polishing right? Just want to make sure I didn't miss a step. Thanks for the great content!

Hi there.
I bought the ac delco polisher and it is great.
Is there any reason why you dont use that for your sanding as well? It seems to have a lot more control than the drill.
I noticed that for mine the battery dies very quickly. I'm going to get the bigger battery pack for it and see how it goes.
You have a very informative channel, probably the best on youtube. Why spoil it with all the vulgar language.
@harleycanine thank you appreciate it.... Because this is real life..... And this is the future a videography and or entertainment it's not sugar-coated or babied like 1960 he's increasingly every year.... This is what is parental advisories.... This is me being me and this is entertainment as well as the best headlights restoration education in the world....(and actually it enhances it-the high majority likes it..... About 16,000 to 1)
Appreciate your viewing 💯
Way too fast rpm not enough torque.... Not a true rotary and many other.. if you use the polisher for sanding on headlights you will for surely regret it nine times out of 10....

@@harleycanine Doesn't fucking spoil a fucking thing.
There was a guy using a clear coat by a company called Next T I think ? Have you heard of any other companies who make a coating that is as durable as 2k but as easy to use as Maguire’s
What about new headlights? I am buying to spray one to new headlights to stop it getting yellow. I won't be sanding to rough up the surface
What grit sandpaper did you use prior to the polishing and then the spray? What did you start with and finish with?
Everything is listed in the bio and everything that you asked was listed in the video every time I use one or change something it's flashed on the top screen.
500 800 3000 see how easy that was mr professional restoration. I don’t think I’ve ever heard more BS in one half hour.
How many pairs can you get out of a 14 dollar can of Meguiars headlight coating?
So Dr
Is there a proper way to store the coating spray so I can use it next time I need it, hopefully in a few years?
I did this same method and it lasted about 6 months 😢
Awesome videos! Very educational! Thank you 👍
Thank you really appreciate you viewing please keep in mind there's over 100 videos streaming on this channel plenty to watch and soak up...
Once again thanks for watching....👍🏽💪🏽
Your talking and not telling me what you using in each sanding process
I liked your video, you have an unique entertaining style. sub'd
Hi, Just a quick question, would it be ok to use a hair dryer after applying the Meguiar's coating to speed up the drying process? Tnx
After you have sealed the light with McGuire's, would it be advisable to apply a ceramic coating as well?
Soooo are we not wet sanding? Just sanding?
Dry sanding is far superior....
Wet sanding does have a place but not the whole process...

I watched a ton of your videos (addicting) - and in this one you mention after care - ---what should be done to make the restoration last as long as possible?
Willing to bet bro is Sicilian. He sounds like all my uncles and cousins.
How long can one coat of Meguiare’s clear spray last before it start to chip ?
What is your "take" on using ceramic coatings on headlights ?
Ceramic coatings have no plates on headlights it's way too thin.. and it's not a true coding it dissipates like Wax..

if i wanted to ceramic coat it after all the steps, how long would u say i should wait to let the meguairs coating fully cure first? 1 week to be safe?
whats the shelf life of this coating after use? have some left over but its been a bout 7-8 months
I've never had an issue with shelf life..
Although it flys of my shelves and I buy in bulk ..so never really had a chance to even come close to knowing...
@@theheadlightrestorationpro ah ok, thanks for replying appreciate it.

Is it better to dry sand then wet sand?

Can I ask what type of Royobi drill that is ?? Just about to start a headlight restoration. Many thanks.
What settings do you use on the drill?
I used the high setting but before worn I am and upper level professional as upper as It gets... It'll take time for you to get used to certain things I would definitely start on the slower and and when you reach the high end make sure you feather your trigger and my advice is just to tape up really good and watch the hard to reach areas..
Do you use soft pads for the first steps or only with the 3m
