Equity Backpack Series Video #1: I promise

As students our goal for the “Equity Backpack" project was to learn even the most challenging concepts when it comes to Equity, Inclusion, and Equality. We are proud to share that this Equity Backpack Video Series project connects and strengthens relationships between school, home, and community. In order to capture the voices of participants across BC and Alberta, our class created an Equity Backpack Video Series to promote Anti-racist Education. The series consists of the following 4 short videos:

We made “Promises” to ourselves and the world committing to equity and inclusion to do our part in making the world even better. This reflective process was authentic, meaningful and helped us understand who we are and what we stand for.
What a journey it's been, for our 11 and 12-year-old students from a little school in Abbotsford, BC to reach out and share the Equity Backpack Project across our province and beyond. This expansion would not have been possible without the help of educators and community members. With so many involved in this project, we feel inspired, committed, and empowered to build a more equitable world. It is amazing how quickly and open-heartedly kids learned about each other's stories and built bridges to each other's cultures.
