I am sure you have tons of ideas but one tip I have for you is to make it so when you have to film your painting setup you can do it with the minimalist amount of friction. It took me a long time to get my setup together but now I am I can hit a literally couple of buttons and I'm recording&painting at the same time. Its seamless and really amazing. If I had a big open studio like that I think I would make a rolling cabinet with a tripod/camera arm mounted on top. You could keep all your film gear in the cupboard below and then the camera would be plugged into an power bar thats mounted on the cabinet. You could basically roll it out when its time to film and then tuck it away against the wall at the end of the day. In my ideal studio I think I would have a film cart and then also a paint supplies cart that housed my paints, papertowels, brushes, and palette right in front of me at all times.
The move to a larger studio for you makes sense and is very reasonable. I didn’t realize the space you were working in was so tight. You will have all sorts of creative opportunities opening in the new studio. Outlets! Haha 🤣 more outlets So relatable ❤
I just found your channel the other day when looking for insight on starting my own small art business, and after watching multiple videos, I can already tell you really deserve this so congratulations! 🥳✨
welcome to the channel! I've got plenty of videos for you to explore, and there's a free Discord community linked in the description if you want to get to know other artists
I haven't been here for a long time and I must admit that you look very nice with your new hairstyle. We are waiting for new films from the new studio ☺
This is so amazing, I'm so happy for you! In no time, you'll be creating more and more art, you'll see. Also, thank you for bringing us along this journey! 🙌💙
Wow I love all that light! My creative space right now is a 7ft by 7ft office space in my apartment so sometimes I chuckle when people complain about their spaces being too small because I’d love even a normal sized room to work in. But the no outlets thing I definitely wouldn’t be able to live with. I’m not an oil painter though so I make it work. But I cannot pick up anymore creative hobbies because I do not have any more space to be able to store stuff. Even though I desperately want to learn to paint with acrylics.
Looks great, Kelsey! I think it was a good call to get your own private space with those lovely windows. A shared art space is cool in some ways, but the one you looked at looked a bit too exposed with not enough natural light. I recommend some lighting for your painting area - LED bulbs that are 5000 Kelvin (recommended to me - it is cool light) to get the kind of light to produce the correct colour in your paintings. Have a grand time in your new space. And walking distance too! All this and a bit of exercise in the great outdoors!
Oh sweetheart, I'm so happy for you! I'm in the Bay Area too, East Bay. I hope you start doing classes! I'll definitely make the drive for you! 😊 Congratulations!
Is Mel, the friend you used to do a podcast with? I noticed she recently got a new studio too. I wondered if there was an inspiring connection by any chance? Very happy you both have a new space to create. Your cat is gonna miss your studio.
My studio is in the basement of my house…. Barely any natural light walls pained black… as a goth I don’t want to burn to a crisp lol 😂. Nice studio, enjoy your new space
Excellent, looks like an amazing space! Geting an external studio is a game changer. Is it north facing? But Housemates? Didn't you live in New York with your boyfriend? That first option, the 12? Useless. You need privacy, to many distractions, and it was very expensive. I just got my studio here in Old Town, Stockholm and the application process was HELL, just like yours, But I got it!
The new studio is east facing! So bright direct light in the morning and indirect light the rest of the day. I was living in NYC with my boyfriend but the summer of 2022 we moved to CA, and about a year ago we moved into a group house! I never thought I would like having seven housemates but it's a really good time. Also YES studio 12 was tempting but I think wouldn't have worked out well. Your studio in Stockholm must be gorgeous!! Never been to Sweden but it's on my to do list! Thank you for watching
Kelsey, I was invited to an "Art business summit" through what looked like your website email and I'm just wondering if it's legitimate. It claimed to have other high level arts but nobody showed up to today's alleged zoom and then links to "exclusive content" pushed me to a locked Facebook group that I'm no being let into.
There is an art business summit I'm speaking at but it's happening next week, and I haven't sent an email about it yet! Unsure what you're talking about here, but the event I'm actually a part of is linked in my recent community post!

Your studio has so much potential. The plants really make the space more inviting, but that could just be my preference.
