I love Patricia for not dwelling on the negative taxi experience in Shanghai. Instead you saw the positive side of it that allowed you to walk and see the surrounding. This is indeed a lesson for all of us.
That’s why I love her so much! I’ve travelled in Asia many times and yes we all know the reason this happened. But the way we see and respond to a situation is entirely our choice.

Bee Rose it's a beauty and lifestyle channel not history channel . People don't even work and focus on their goals anymore without speaking about race and racism which is being thrown around loosely . I experience discrimation almost daily but i don't cry about it because you can't satisfy ignorant people by trying to prove a point .
It’s pretty racist in China. I lived in Beijing for 5 years and it’s sadly common for taxi drivers to not want to pick up black passengers. Didn’t know Shanghai is like that too :(

This happens to me every time I am in Shanghai. I ended up using DIDI which is the Chinese version of Uber. So I didn't bother with the other taxis. Also I found just having a pair of sunnies helps with the attention. They didn't really know what to do with my curly hair!!

yep... I dont even bother with taxi anymore... its impossible to get one. last time they charged me as regular and picked up another passenger on the way, and its not even the same way. took me 15 mins longer.
Thought I was the only one who that happened to. Shanghai and Dubai are the worst for getting taxis if you are black 😔. Beautiful places to visit but yeah that part sucks. Love you Patricia for seeing the positive by sightseeing etc.
er, Im not black. it happens to all people in shanghai. more to foreigners (white and black) as most taxi driver doesnt speak english, they have enough customers they just cant be bothered,

It's horrible. But at the end of the day, do you want to allow racism to restrict how confident you are, or how you live your life? Patricia is doing exactly as she always says she does - feeling the fear, and doing it anyway. It's in every single country on this earth, even African ones. Don't allow yourself to feel boxed in and scared by it, as hard as that sounds. You can't let their colonial mentalities take your life away from you. From one black girl to another xx

I love how you handled the situation with the taxis. I do not know what is up with them but I had exactly the same experience in Beijing 🤷 Someone told me they do that during lunch time but idk. It was a bit strange but on the bright side, i did get my cardio in that day lol!

We (the hubby and I) pick two places to travel and spend three weeks.

Glad to see you rise above the taxi situation and that Dior, a brand that I adore, stepped up and collaborated with you in Shanghai. Many times (while watching UA-cam) we only see the same people going to beautiful destinations and going to lunches and parties, flying on private jets....I'm very happy for them, really, however it's nice to see someone of color get invited as well and be able to share your thought on their products and join in on the festivities. 💖💜💝😊

IndiaMyers naaaah, it’s not because she is black. I lived in china last year and they just rarely pick up foreigners in general. China is a very homogenous country, and many chinese people don’t think foreigners can speak chinese (including not knowing a simple place in chinese, like «blabla this hotel»). I’ve met very few people that are actually rascist, i just think they are very afraid of communication problems..
