actually i was thinking of trying to mix with ozone 11 which i have so i will have to check your videos to get ideas. Also @5piece which out of the 3 including ozone along with metric AB and reference 2 is the easier to do when it comes to referencing ? cause Streaky says its reference 2 so just need some more advice ? thanks
Metric AB is more comprehensive than Reference IMHO. To be honest, Mastering The Mix has an affiliate program so creators get paid to sell / promote their products for a commission on sales. I’m no exception - but I only promote stuff I actually use and if there’s a bonus - great. Therefore, it’s more advantageous for creators to promote Reference over Metric AB (since PA does not have an affiliate program and there is no financial incentive). Therefore, while I respect Streaky and his recommendation, I can’t fully say it’s as genuine as you think since there may be monetary motivations based on getting a percent of the sale. I’d personally choose Metric AB but that’s just me. Demo both and see what you like - your opinion and experience supersedes all.
@@5piece that i understand and i have even done one of his courses for ozone mastering so thought it was odd that he mentions R2 as better but that's why i came to ask you because at least you do give a balanced view. My main point was that i just need something very easy to use as i don't have a PHD lol in music plugins even though i have a over a million on my PC
i forgot he did mention this in comparison to metric AB made me think should i go for this 'it auto matches the levels you have to keep clicking the match button in AB' -Streaky
@@mystikrebel1089 I'm not sure if that's accurate as you also have to press the LEVEL MATCH button on R2 (at least in my experiences with it). Besides, even if it were true, the question becomes: is the convenience of not needing to click one button worth more than all of the analytical tools that Metric AB offers that R2 does not? For example, Metric AB gives you a lot more detailed insights into dynamics, tonal balance, stereo image, and beyond AND it can even allow you to compare your track to MULTIPLE references while R2 only lets you compare to one track, and really just provides an overall level reading and I believe stereo width - that's it. I'm really simplifying Metric AB's offerings here, while R2 is pretty much just that. Still great - but limited in functionality in comparison. I will admit that R2 is a lot simpler, and the GUI is nice and clean so perhaps that's why some folks like it more . R2 could be a good fit for you with that in mind, BUT it also is more expense than Metric AB right now if I'm not mistaken. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion and preferences of course - I just don't fully see the argument for R2. I still think its a great tool of course and would use it if I didn't have access to Metric AB, or if I wanted to use a very simple referencing tool in place of it.
I'd compare RePitch more to Melodyne than AutoTune. What I mean is, we typically reach for AutoTune to achieve the specific texture it adds to vocals - the more robotic, obviously-tuned sound - or we use it in the automatic modes to quickly tune something with minimal thought. Whereas Melodyne and RePitch - it's more about manual tuning and achieving a less noticeable / transparent effect. Therefore, I'd reach for RePitch as an alternative to Melodyne - rather than AutoTune. Worth noting that AutoTune does have a graph mode if you do want more transparent manual tuning with it - but it's also my least favorite of the three from that POV. Just my personal preference. To be clear, I still use and rely on AutoTune - but for the reasons I mentioned above. Therefore, I think you need AutoTune (or a "hard" tuner) and a manual soft tuner like RePitch in your arsenal if you're tuning vocals.
I know. The advanced can be a doozy on the wallet 😅 but $29 for essentials is pretty good to start and upgrade from if you don’t have anything at all. Covers the (no pun intended) essentials 🎯
@@xaronwhite5376I've spent thousands on plugins... Only to have rediscovered Ableton live... Now I use Ableton stock plugins and third party racks. @5piece I do almost everything with their plugins. Even gain stage with black (their free plugin) so far I have bought sunglow(channelstrip), Lemon(delay), fire the clip, and el rey 2(mix bus and vocal compressor)... looking into getting wine for mastering. Sir, please end your promotion deal with distro kit, distro kit is a scam and you make people not happy with this distribution. Please research yourself. Thx
I appreciate your concern but in the same breath, the word “scam” is used way to liberally these days. I personally have been using them for years and have not had any issues, same goes for all of the artists I work with. I see some folks haven’t had a positive experience, but that doesn’t constitute it as a “scam” - especially if it only happens to a fringe minority. They serve over 2 million artists - there’s bound to be the odd one who isn’t happy and I’m sorry if that’s you. Your experience isn’t mine and their monetary support of this channel via sponsorship enables me to make videos like this. Perhaps if I had the same experience, I wouldn’t have accepted their sponsorship in the first place but that isn’t the case. I been a happy and satisfied customer since 2017 👀
