Hello. I hope you enjoy this video. Today we are walking around Tetbury, a town and civil parish in the Cotswolds, in the South West of England. Tetbury is situated on the site of an ancient Anglo-Saxon hill fort, dating back to 681. In the Middle Ages Tetbury was an important market town for wool and yarn. As we walk around you will see the distinctive Market House built in 1655, it is a raised pillared building, still used as a meeting place and market today. Most of the buildings in the town date from the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. It is lunch time and there are plenty of places to choose to get a drink or some food. COVID-19 restrictions have eased in England so it is busier than a month or so ago. The lovely weather has also brought people outside. I only had a short time in Tetbury but I'd love to come back and make a more detailed video. Please do leave a comment, or like the video, it is lovely to hear from people, you can suggest a town that you would like to see more of in the South West of England. If you have never been to Tetbury I hope this video helps you feel a little closer to it.
Thank you so much for filming Tetbury. I was born there in the 50s and taken away to America as a child. We moved so much in the US after immigrating. Fifteen times by the time I was 15. I missed England so much, my little heart ached for my heritage. I would love to go back one day. I now live across the world on the Pacific Ocean in the remote Pacific Northwest. I lived many places and always longed for the way Tetbury made my heart happy.
Ever inspiring. Thank you for filming and sharing with us. Lovely and calming. Hugs from Costa Rica.
English villages are so lovely. I love watching your walks.
I’m really pleased you have enjoyed these
I just found your channel. I love this. I feel like I am taking the tour myself. I love the history notes also. I'm American and love England.
You are welcome, that is so nice to know and really satisfying that you read the notes. Thank you 👋🇬🇧
it's so quiet there.. but surely it's a beautiful place to visit
It is a lovely place to visit, thank you for watching
I've always wanted to visit the Cotswolds. I know they get hammered with tourism but they are so quaint and idyllic in a lot of ways.Great tour of Tetbury. Thanks. -H
⚜⏳⚜ THANK YOU ⚜⏳⚜
...I am so happy to have found your chanel. Your video brought tears to my eyes. Years ago I used to live in a cottage just outside of Tedbury. What a wonderful time it was. All those memorys came back to me. I am very grateful. Indeed. I wish you all the best and keep on walking.🕊
It is my pleasure. So lovely to know that the video brought back some fond memories. Hopefully I’ll be doing some new walks soon. Do say if there is anywhere you’d like to see in the area. Good wishes
@@everywhereisimagined Thank you that's very kind. Happy Easter.🕊
Wadidaw wadidaw beautiful
Wow. That opening shot of the houses and bricked street got me hooked. I really need to explore this beautiful country more.
Thank you for watching 😊
A great walk.
Thank you, it's a lovely place
I remember this town. I was there when in the early 2000s visiting High Grove House. The Cotswolds area has beautiful little villages. I also traveled to an ancient town the town of Malmsbury.
My third-great-father was born in Tetbury. He was the last of that line of the family to live and die in England; his children all emigrated to America.

These Cotswolds towns and villages are amazing! I drove through the Cotswolds last weekend and stopped in Castle Combe, which I loved. Keep up these great walks. Subscribed!

I'm so thankful to have found your channel! My husband and I have visited the Cotswolds every year for 5 years before the pandemic. We've missed our trip for the past 2 years and cannot wait to return! These videos truly take me back there...to the place I so love! Thank you!
I am so pleased you have enjoyed the videos while we can not travel. I feel fortunate to live local to these places. Thank you for watching and the nice comment.
Thank you, for doing videos like this..I always wanted to visit England..but with today's issues it makes traveling and site seeing hard for me ..so this is close I can get for now...please keep up the amazing job!

Thank you for watching and the comment, it is appreciated
Marizion! St Michael's Mount. My wife and I were married on the other side of the island 18yrs ago. We are from Colorado:)
LOL. I totally saw the request for places to film in South West England, not even bothering to give some sort of premise to my outburst.
😂
That's a good one if I'm ever close that way I will. 😊🇬🇧👋
Lovely video. I live and work in London and this is such a beautiful and peaceful place.
Thank you. I used to work in London too. I can’t believe how much it has changed even in the last ten years or so.
I love coatsworld, you done good job, really enjoyed it..thank you 🙏
Thank you, thank you for watching and the comment 😊
So beautiful I wanna move there 😊
It is lovely with all the old buildings.
Very nice
Thanks
please give your name! Tetbury ahhh memories. It is very near to the Arboretum a huge acreage of unusual trees and tearoom! My daughter and I used to go for the afternoon. Tea at Two toads or The Waggon and Horses, sometimes even in the up market hotel there, but they were no good at crumpets! (pikelets)
So this has cheered me up on a dull wintery day here in Horncastle!! you may like to visit the arboretum just nearby.
Thank you Beth, I used to drive by Westobirt school everyday on my way to work. I'm kicking myself now as doing a walk around the arboretum with all the autumn foliage would have been lovely, most of the trees are bare after this weekends storm. Thanks for the tea time tip also! Take care and hope you like the new video that has just gone live.
@@everywhereisimagined yes I have just been thinking about the wonderful colours of the Japanese Maples in Acer glade. I was driving down to Louth and noticed that all the leaves have gone, but I love to see the winter trees as in some ways they are even more beautiful showing every little twig. I have a book on trees: "The hidden life of trees" Peter Wohlleben: and they are an absolute wonder; working very hard all winter creating new leaves, sorting out the grubs and invaders and balancing out their chemistry. Thank you again for your creations.
I am always surprised by the absence of people during these walking tours I love to watch. In my country in the course of a walk like this you would have bumped into a thousand or more people 🤣
Yes! I can imagine much busier places around the world and do feel lucky to be able to find quiet and stillness here. It is nice to be able to share these places and hopefully bring some of that peace and calm to others 😊
Tetbury is only a small town, though (population c. 5500), so I'm not sure you're comparing like with like. If you'd met over a thousand people on this walk you'd have met a fifth of the population in just a few minutes!
I'd have expected to see more people at lunchtime at the weekend, so I'm assuming this is midweek, therefore people are either physically at work (and if you live in Tetbury your work is very likely to be in a larger town or city elsewhere) or working from home (when this was filmed it was still during the period the UK had been told to work from home wherever possible, and large numbers were doing so. A high proportion of people have broadband and a computer at home. I was WFH at that time).
Otherwise, you can see a fair number of people travelling by car, and there will be people in the various shops and other businesses. Tetbury also has a higher proportion than the national average of retired people, so they were possibly at home having lunch (maybe in the garden, it looks like a lovely day!).
Finally, if as I suspect this was mid-week, children would be in school.
So that accounts for pretty much everyone!
@@clairenoon4070 this video (stated in the description) was filmed on 8th June 2021 which was a Tuesday. Many thanks for watching.
I have always dreamed of going to the Cotswolds... I'm hoping to take a trip in 2022, although I believe my first trip to the UK will be to Scotland. As always the walk is lovely. Thank you
Hi Tracy, oooo Scotland! Exciting. Do you know whereabouts? I used to go every year as a child.
Iverness definitely... Culloden.
I would loves to see Iona, Mull , Skye...all the islands!!. I love history, legend and lore!! I had found a beautiful little B&B just a few miles hike to Culloden and a little village nearby. I've been dreaming about going a long time....and Wow you are fortunate to have visited as a child. I have walked many Cherokee trails, parks, and old war battlefields here. I would love to see Scotland and Corke in Ireland, the Cotswolds, Wales, Cornwall..all the places you have walked. Maybe some day. 😍
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!! It's my birthday next Saturday 🤪 New Years!! I'm going to the Smokies for the weekend. Pigeon Forge, Gatlinburg. It's beautiful! Lots of history! Lots of fun. I can't wait for your next walk!! Wish you have lots of love and peace for the holidays ❤ 💕 🎁
PS...my dream trip to Iverness and Culloden has nothing to do with "Outlander" 🤣 I've never really watched the show although I did read a couple of the books about 12 years ago🤣
@@tracywebb9838 That all sounds so exciting! I'd love to explore more of the east coast of Scotland, most of my travels were on the west side, old fishing harbour towns. I was intrigued by Outlander but never plundered it. I've done a few car trips in recent times a little south skirting Hadrians Wall from east to west, so much beautiful countryside, towns and villages. I'm also hoping to visit Ireland next year, around Belfast but would like to explore more. I hope you have a lovely birthday! I am so jealous and would love to get lost in some of the vast landscapes you have 😍⛰. Hope you've been having a lovely festive season and best wishes for a birthday New Year 🥳!

nice video, thank you!
The town itself is slightly too noisy for "your's - highly noise sensitive - truly", but at least it was gratifying to see, that all the people in this video seem to be original English. That has unfortunately become a rarity in this country nowadays.
Thank you. I usually only record when it is very early in the morning when it is quiet but this is at lunch time. Some of my other videos are calmer. This was filmed while travel restrictions were in place so very few tourists around.
@@everywhereisimagined thank you for the reply!
i wasn't referring to tourists, when I mentioned the "rarity" of original English people in any place in the UK - I meant, that in most places all over this country, foreigners not only are the majority in any one place, but are living there for good, and are actually British residents and citizens, when it's clear they aren't original British, and their bahaviour is anything, but British
You only like white people are you a racist by any chance ? 🌹🏴🙄

What do the zizaggy lines on the road mean?
White zigzags are commonly found either side of pedestrian crossings. They are designed to indicate that parking and overtaking in these zones is strictly prohibited 🤓
