Kind of like my journey. From standard lib, to left lib, leftie, thinking "trotsky was good", now after actually READING, im a non-organized(yea im getting too old) ML sympathiser.

Id love to engage in honest discussion comrade. 20 year old organised and being educated with trotskyists.
Fire your shot comrade. I want to hear your veiws, based on the premise of truth of course, rather than speculation or accusations (ie trotsky cheated on his wife once ect)

Alex, you said it all when you revealed that Trotsky's papers and effects are stored at the Hoover Institute in California.
Most Westerners are unaware of this fact, but Herbert Hoover was, quietly, one of the most important, and most nefarious figures of the 20th century.
I won't inscribe a paragraph-long description of why Hoover was so important - this story is contained in the 1946 history, written by Michael Sayers and Albert Kahn, titled "The Great Conspiracy: Against Russia."
It might, also, help our comrades to understand, if we let them know that the papers and effects of the Romanovs are also, contained at the Hoover Institute, as well as those of many top Nazis, such as Heinrich Himmler, Von Ribbentrop, and others.

@@The80sWolf_ I could think of half a dozen US presidents who did worse than him in the 20th century. Anyway, the reason some (not all) Trotsky archives are at the Hoover Institute is that his son Sedov had them in Paris and at some point entrusted them to Boris Nikolaevsky, who himself sold his personnal papers to the Hoover institution in 1963 (while remaining curator) a few years before his death. It's only in the 80s that a systematic work on Nikolaievsky's archives revealed that it included a substantial Trotsky archive. How you can interpret that as a sign that Trotsky was a sell-out is beyond me. However I know the name of one dirty sell-out, Zborowsky, a stalinist mole in Trotskyst circles who should have served jail time for a number of death, as well a the stealing of archives.

As you have said before, the regional governments of the UK are in the business of managing the decline of living standards, and are hugely influenced by the same NGOs, think tanks , and foundations that Westminster is.

Many good books out there about Trotsky the Traitor. Dating back to at least the 30's for some Western ML's and obviously further back for Soviet ML's. A book list for those who still deny would be great. Harpal Brar's book has been very helpful in addition to a few others I've read. It would be interesting to have your book list on the topic.

I have long thought that, had Trotsky lived, given his monomaniacal hatred of "Stalinism", he would have followed the arc of so many other opportunists, a great many of them Trotskyites, who started out as "socialists" and would have ended up as a neocon or full-blown fascist.

Most of Trotsky's last decade was devoted to fighting against anti-Sovietism. "In Defense of Marxism" etc.

As always, good episode, and we might need a part 2. Can you elaborate on how your Trot views manifested in the Red Star Radio days, would you be willing to revise some of them with an ML take, and are 'post left' grifters also part of the trot brigade, or an entirely different category ?

Also, is it just me, or do Trots have a thing about thinking the lumpen are the agents of revolutionary change ? Have noticed several Trots I've encountered thinking the revolution will be led by pimps, and drug addicts, and seeming to believe that the 'lived experience' of said groups is some kind of radical consciousness. Where does this stem from ?

I believed the "power struggle" at Lenin's death for a long time. I'm honestly embarrassed to admit that today but I am a few years of actual reading further along. And reading is meant to shine a light on misinformation and clean it out of our minds so I guess that is good overall

Lenin threatened to resign if the Brest Litovsk peace treaty wasn't signed. The vote passed by a narrow margin of 7 to 6 votes.
