    the first ever cars invented were actually horseless carriages O.O So in a way it would be an extremely antique car ride. Which is pretty neat in its own way too.

    I think the best idea I have heard is to build a stable in an isolated area in Central Park. Keep the horses in the park and close the drive to cars at all times. That way horses would not have to deal with traffic. Have the horse carriages wait for passengers inside the park in a shady area instead of standing on Central Park South breathing exhaust and listening to traffic noise all day.

    So basically it’s a car.

      More or less. There were some Tractor units, that would pull carriages along, so the wealthy didn't need to buy a new vehicle immediately. If it was the Tractor system though, I'd be more impressed.

    the inventor claims this is "completely green" but neglects to mention what non-green sources are used to create that lithium battery, what non-green sources are used to capture the energy to charge that lithium battery, and whether these batteries are recycled after reaching the end of their useful lives. (computer and smart phone lithium batteries are generally NOT recycled.)

    • @Sacto1654
      @Sacto1654 10 років тому +3

      That used to be the case, but nowadays a number of recycling companies can extract out the lithium from used batteries for use in new batteries. In fact, today's best recycling companies can recycle metals and plastics that used to be impossible to recycle just a few decades ago.

    Are these the same animal rights activists who don't believe we should have dogs or cats?
    There's no question that work horses of yesterday were abused. They were being treated with the same kindness as inanimate objects. But that's different today. If a carriage house is going to treat its horses as well as pets, I am perfectly OK with keeping horse carriages in the park. The battery powered carts are great for days when it is too hot or cold for the horses.

    • @tinalaneart
      @tinalaneart 7 років тому

      They do not though, sadly the horses are treated badly.

      I do understand there are work horses and they don't always mind but Central Park is not a place that. Living in New York I can say I'd rather this then the horses for several reasons. One, it would smell less. Second, even though they took them from outside the park, the horses still need to go through heavy trafficked areas to get to where ever they are put. I've seen them literally 20 blocks from the park. And nobody really knows for sure if they are being well taken care of. I've seen one guy ignoring his horse who kept nudging him for a good 10 minutes before finally hanging up on a phone call. Even if the stages treat them well, the drivers don't always.

    In the 1890s, There were some Battery-Electric Tractor units on the market, that would pull horse carriages along, so the wealthy didn't need to buy a new vehicle immediately. If it was the Tractor system though, I'd be more impressed. This is more like something of the International-Harvester and other "High-Wheels" of the early years of motoring.

    That's a good idea and smart move for future horse carriages, and retire the horses to a hobby farm where they can enjoy the rest of their days, horses done enough hard work in their bygone days and were also abused and beaten by whips and made to haul heavy loads of coal carts as of mines, heavy cargo, logs as of woods, lumber camps, farm grounds, plows, mowers, etc

    "I can't imagine the tourists or New Yorkers wanting to get out of a car to get back into another car to see Central Park." Ok first off, if you're a tourist in NYC, high probability you will be getting around in a subway NOT an absurdly expensive taxi. Atleast as a New Yorker that's what I see with tourists. Secondly, the horse carriage thing isn't unique to NYC. Many cities do them. Rome is one of them. What other place in the world would use an electric modern day interpretation of a vintage carriage? It would be a feature unique to NYC more so than the carriage. By that logic, I can say "I can't imagine the tourists or native San Franciscan wanting to get out of a metro to get back into another train type thing or trolley to see San Francisco."

      I have travelled widely, where I spend my hard earned cash in the places I travel too. I avoid places that abuse animals to make money. I have seen all the behind the scenes where these poor creatures fall in the roads, they have sores on them, they are treated disgustingly in tiny horrendous stalls at night sleeping in filth. To look after a horse properly takes money and the men/women running these horrible rides are in it for profit, which is at expense of the horse.

    Have you every known, really known a horse? Some like the country, some the city. They have, for lack of a better word, personalities. If the horse wasn't here, it would be dead. Please keep the horses, use this for those summer days when it's too hot.

    Brilliant I have seen just how disgustingly the poor horses are treated that are stuck in traffic and fumes all day just for tourists. It's not romantic, it's not cute to be part of an animals misery, I have seen them fall, seen them covered in sores, they never get to see a field or run like a horse. If you want to see animals go to them don't expect them to live in filthy stalls not fit for toilets just because you would lie to see a horsey.. I have cats btw. So no not all of us are extremists we just care about animals and do not like to see them abused or used for someone to go 'awwww so cute, lemme get my 5 tonne arse on that carriage with my 10 tonne partner on this boiling hot day and take a selfie'. Did you know Canada finds it ok to let a horse go without food and water for 36 hours.
