Every time I get caught up in marketing hype over sensor size, lens quality, mega-pixels etc I always come back to this video and look at the samples Mattias is able to take on an old, tiny sensor camera. Brings me back to my senses and grounds me a lot more.
Eeeh. The only thing that kinda upsets me at this point are people who say "Why would you need a camera with such a tiny sensor? You can take exactly the same quality pictures with your phone!!!"
Matt how are you? Do you realize this is the most extensive and detailed video you've ever done? I can tell you love this camera. Another thing I know is it's not easy to do such a long review when you're narrating it because you have to shoot hours and hours of b-roll. You're a baaad man on UA-cam for sure. Respect
You perfectly proved that what really matter is the eye behind the camera. As a Pentax Q7 owner, i am totally amazed by your result! Absolutely fantastic work!
You BLEW MY MIND when you pointed out that the 02 would look the same as an 08 on the 1/1.7" sensor. It would never have occurred to me to check the numbers. I have an original Q, the 01 and 06 lenses, but wanted a wider-angle lens. I have been pricing an 08 for a few days and lamenting how expensive they are (~$350 at time of writing). Getting a Q7 with the 02 will set me back a little less and keep my kit lighter. The 02 also appears to be a faster lens. Thank you!!!
Still loving the Pentax Q. I bought one shortly after seeing this video, and another Q for the 01 lens. I love coming back to this video for inspiration and to see the capability offered by such a small camera system. I am always amazed at the quality of photo when considering the age of the original Q.
I love this video. You have a gift for balancing serious coverage of the subject matter with a deft and easygoing style that makes me want to grab my camera and have fun. I’ve probably watched it 5 times over the past two years. Thank you for making it, from a fellow Pentax Q fan!
Stumbled across a Q10 in a camera shop yesterday and hey it's my birthday so I got it! I love your images so much in this, you've got some seriously beautifully composed shots. I really need the 06 after watching this! I had the original Q many moons ago and you're so right that the original is built much better, but had I not previously owned it I wouldn't have said the q10 was bad build by any means. Now to scour ebay for some bargain lenses wish me luck 🎉
This video has not aged at all I keep coming back to this because of just the beautiful imagery and the soundtrack used. Hope you're safe through all this Mattias! 🇵🇭
By the length of this video, I can fully understand how much you love this camera. I bought X-T1 thanks to you(even though I had sold it away). And I think I need to stay away from your 'cheap' camera review like this one because it's very convincing, so much so feels like I need to have one for myself xD
Went on vacation to France, checked out a camera store and they sold the Q + 02 + 2 batteries, a leather case and a strap for 150 euros. I remembered your video, bought it and have had so much fun since then! Thank you Mattias :-)
Mattias. Not only are your videos a joy as well as your commentary intelligent and engaging reviews but, best of all, your images - your stock-in-trade - are simply amazing. I envy your eye, and your talent. Please keep up the good work.
Phenomenal demo of this tiny beauty, I hope to (one day)add a Q to my collection! This video has made me fall in love with this little camera! Thank you for sharing not only your knowledge of this gem but also your passion for photography! Your photos are inspiring!
I don't know how many times I have watched this (at least 10 times) it's a work of art. I'm now the proud owner of a Q and the 01 and 02 lenses. I hope to get the MX-1 as well.
Thank you for making this video. I love your voice and accent by the way, very friendly and enjoyable to hear. I love the Q as well. It might not technically be the best, but I get pleasing pictures with pretty colors and film like character.
The energy in the 'Good bye!', wow! It sounds like you are very pleased with your own review, as well as knowing how much fun your life will be with this camera system! And it is well deserved! 👍😁👏
This video convinced me to get one. Here's what happened: I discovered your channel because I, too, love Nokia phones (I have a Lumia 830, 925, and 1020!). After watching a few other videos of yours, UA-cam suggested this one. This video reminded me of the Pentax Q - a camera that got me intrigued when Pentax introduced it back in 2011, but then I just forgot about it (you know how digital photography works: in just a few years dozens of new models are introduced, and if you're mostly a film enthusiast like me, you easily lose track…). After this video, I checked other reviews around the Web, and that rekindled my enthusiasm. Then I got back here. Then I got on eBay and snatched a Pentax Q with the Standard Zoom 02 lens for about 100 Euros. And now I can't wait for it to arrive! Cheers, Mattias! Keep up the good work!
Great review! I miss old blunty videos where he used to talk about cameras with more regards to the fun of using them rather than pixel peeping, it's nice that you fill that gap though
Amazing video as usual. I had never heard of these cameras before. Your videos are so entertaining and fascinating. Also, great Cameo of cross-country skiing, immense respect
I just stumbled across this video. How in the world have I never even heard of the Pentax Q cameras until just now? And yes, I definitely want one now. Thank you for the excellent review.
Another good one, Mattias. Nice seeing your channel grow. I've shot Pentax digitals and film for a couple decades but was always only semi-interested, or barely curious in the Q system, but this makes me give it another look.
this video inspired me to make the decision to go for this camera over another small "pocketable" cameras. I picked one up for $200 USD yesterday. its in perfect condition and came with the 01 prime lens. I'm having some trouble understanding the functionality of the camera because its so different, as time goes it proves to be fairly simple though. So far I am truly impressed that something so small having a sensor so minuscule, is capable of producing, maybe not amazing quality, but very beautiful looking photos. If I were walking through a gallery and saw photos from a q-s1 vs a top tier dslr (with no touch-up, after effects, etc.) I would probably think the photos from the q-s1 look better. Again, very happy with the camera so far and thank you for the inspiring video and review.
@@weisaints2016 yes, if you want to go for the real vintage look without using filters or something of that sort, you’d need to get a lens adapter and some vintage lenses for the Q.
@@weisaints2016 I would suggest to just go with which ever one is easily available for you. I originally got the q-S1 because I wanted the newest version, but I also really like the metal construction of the original q. The original q I think is also better for vintage lenses due to its slightly smaller sensor. So it all depends on what you think is most important, BUT they’re all very great so it may be best to go with which ever one is easiest to obtain.
Nice to see the Q still getting some love. I love my cellphone's camera, but only having 24mm is pretty limiting. I usually carry a K-3 or K-5 IIs everywhere. Or both. The Q has always seemed really appealing for a small discrete camera with options. I might just have to get one now lol. :)
I generally hate camera review videos and would much rather look at images. Mattias makes the only camera review videos worth watching - thank you for bringing me around. :D
FeatherFive True, but my videos usually have a short lived influence. My first M8 video bumped the prices but they where down again by the time of my second. Also, this time I issued a warning two videos ago :)
Mattias -- Thanks for the recent review. I'm still using the Pentax Q7 a great deal. My other cameras are Pentax DSLRs and the fantastic Leica Q (yes, another Q!). But nothing takes the place of the interchangeable range of Pentax Q and its lens set, and the flexibility the system gives in lots of inventive and opprtunistic circumstances. Note that the Q7 and Q-S1 offered a kind of Wi-fi with Eye-Fi cards, but the Eye-Fi app has not been updated and the latest iPhone software no longer talks to it. That makes wi-fi an indispensable update if Ricoh/Pentax issues a new Q body. BUT, to say these are cheap these days is a little misleading because the Pentax Q's are unavailable except as used, on ebay.
deVIRGINizer Balkan - $230 for a two zoom lens kit on eBay right now. But Mattias’ photos are what impresses me most here! Composition is my weak point, but seems to be his strongpoint (I’m working on it :)
I have been checking out this cameras on the second hand market for ages... It has never dropped enough to be affordable for what this camera is... But this is once again a treat from ricoh... They always get out of the line with super original ideas... i will get one of these sooner or later...
Thank you so much for this video. I finally got my own Q7 and I am in love with it. Wouldn't have been an easy decission without this review. You rock dude.
Welp. It was a nice secret while it lasted. This camera was my gateway into learning photography. I forgot how good daylight flash was on this camera. It gives an incredible look to summer photos here in Memphis. Nice mention of Blunty. I probably wouldnt have gotten it if it wasnt for his videos. I never would have tried film, never would have fallen for the X-Pro 1, and never have gotten as far with photography in my career as i have. I love this camera.
Have you tried X30, X70, and X100 series? All leaf shutter all amazing with daylight flash. Sold my X100T (waiting for better AF of the X100V), but love my X30 and will keep it forever. Enjoy your photography!
Hi! I'm so glad I subscribed to your channel. This is a great video as are all your other ones. What sets them apart is the abudance of truly fantastic pictures. A pure joy to look at! You may make me want to buy a specific camera, but more importantly you make me want to go out there and take pictures. Priceless!
If you are thinking of getting a Q or have one already, the Pentax Adapter Q for K-Mount Lens will add miles of fun. It is designed by Pentax to mate all their K mount lenses to a Q and comes with an inbuilt leaf shutter. It has an aperture so even modern auto aperture only lenses can be controlled plus of course the many excellent film K mount lenses. Focus will be manual with all lenses but the big plus is the leaf shutter which gives a range from 1/1000s to 30s With a crop factor of X 5.6 a lens like the excellent Pentax 100mm macros (there are several to choose from) will give an effective focal length of 560mm, and if that's not enough, a 300mm lens will give a reach of 1650mm. On the Q7 or QS-1, the corresponding figures are X 4.6, 460mm and 1380mm. Don't forget the tripod!!! Importantly the adapter comes with an optional tripod bracket which is essential. (it's the same bracket that the Pentax DA*300mm f4.0 is fitted with). There are (or were) other non Pentax adapters, but as far as I know these are lower spec and without either the aperture control or the leaf shutter.
I know I'm commenting on an old video, but I genuiely liked it and this has inspired me to get one of these (still in the process). Who'd have thought such small lenses have a leaf shutter and a built in ND filter and the body being built like a tank. Love your videos, informative and can easily watch them twice or more ;)
I own both the original Q and the Q7 as well as the 01 and the 06 lenses. I hardly get to shoot with them anymore since I do all my serious work with the K-1 now but the Q is definitely the most fun camera I have ever used. Enjoyed your thoughts on the system.
I had no interest in the camera but this video was so well done. the compositions were wonderful and that grain is reminiscent of the 35mm days. And the music was spot on as well, you did a really great job :)
I just took out my original Q last weekend to take some photos on a birthday and man, I immediately regret that it was gathering dust the last year. Ordered a used 08 on Sunday, now the Spring can come. Keep having fun!!!
I always enjoy your reviews. Recently I had to sell my much more expensive gear. I found myself with just my cell phone. Desperate to go shooting I searched for a solution. Yesterday I picked up Pentax Q from craigslist for $140. I am thoroughly impressed by the build and the image quality. Its not on par with fuji I sold but much better than what I expected. These are awesome little cameras .I got it just to bridge the gap until I got a new camera but it may turn out to much more than that. Sure I am going to get another main camera but this will definitely have a place.
Just bought one of these little puppies and wow am I impressed. Honestly, you have no real idea of its size unless it's in your hands. I took it out for a quick photo shoot yesterday and I could not believe how great the pictures came out. I loved using it as nobody paid me any attention what so ever if I had been using my Nikon D6100 people always notice. This is the perfect pocket monster, not in size but ability. Just buy it and see youll love it!!
I got my QS-1 in Okinawa a few years ago. My champagne model, after buying the lenses and filters, was about maybe $1200 US dollars. The #1 prime, #2 Standard zoom and #6 Tele, including the carrying case. This camera, in my opinion, will become a classic. So, I am keeping mine forever. So if you have one, keep it!
I knew nothing about this camera in 2014 but I saw it at the camera shop and had to buy it because it was so small and on sale. Having the luxury of owning pro gear I have never really touched this camera, but after watching your excellent video I am now as excited to go try it as I am with my new A7RIII! Great content!
This is the camera. My gf always takes it with us for travelling and makes me keep the XT2 away from my camera bag. It saved up many of our bag space so that we could bring some film bodies and lenses. The QS-1 has a purple/magenta look on its photos which is the same character that you can see on KP's photos. Some may think this ought to be get ride of while post-processing, but we think it is some kind of signature of Pentax camera. I think the fisheye is the lens that you must have if you like to take selfie like us. All the zooms are great except the wide-angle as we don't have it and cannot comment it at the moment.
After this video I might have to pick mine up and shoot with them again. I love my Q system. The 08 is a great lens for tourist-y architecture photos. I also used the Q10 and the 06 at quite a few Coachellas. Nobody in security bats an eye at it and you can get amazing photos.
Enjoyed watching your video again. Matthias, you have shown us that it is the photographer and not the camera that makes good photos. I am sure you can show us similar great photos with any cheap compact camera.
Had Q since its release and it lasted all the way up to this day. Recently replaced 02 because of shutter failure (I was lucky to get one for less than 100€!) but other than that its been flawless journey. Its just so amazing little camera you can take everywhere with you. Okay,in these days DSLRs have got more compact but when it comes to lenses then you really cant haul all of them with you all the time. Definitely not the case with Q. Bit sad that Pentax didnt go further with Q-series. Could have easily been every mans Leica.
My red Q-10 and a c mount prime taught me so much about photography. The command dial and pentax menus are great for anyone starting out. My E-PL7 is my everyday camera but the q still has my ear/heart.
As always, a great review with great photos. My friend has a Q and I was very tempted to get one also as I found one in a camera shop for a good price. The only thing that decided me against buying it was my MX-1 which, though it's a fair bit heavier, doesn't have the extra bulk of the interchangeable lenses. The Q looks ridiculously small when put next to a K1 with a 70-200 lens on it!
I predict thar this camera will become a classic; if you have it, keep it. I have the Qs-1 with the #1 #2 and #6. Looove it! I use japanese UV filters on all of my lenses. Thank you for your video.
Excellent review! I agree with your findings with just one correction. I have both the Q and the Q7, and much as I, like you, prefer the construction and detail or the original, to my mind the larger bsi sensor in Q7 and Q-S1 is far superior to that in the original Q. Now if someone wants to swap the Q7 innards over to the Q body, please make a youtube video of this. It would be the perfect Q*. I just don't want to be the first to try it!
Hey Matthias, because of you I bought a Pentax Q and what can I say . I really like this camera. I recognised that I am more creative/ experimental while using this camera. I really can't thank you enough. Stay safe. Greetings from Germany
I just bought one of these with the number 01 lense for 20€ on a flea market today. I had never heard of them, but the form factor and the interchangeable lense system intrigued me. Coming back home I find you reviewing the camera which made me quite happy. Well spent 20 euros!
@@gearreallydoesntmatter I think I found one reason why the camera was this cheap. The system seems to shut down for no reason from time to time. That only happens when the lense is on, so I might be able to use the body but not the lense. But since the camera alone is a good find for 20€ I'm still very happy :-)
I recognize that dog from the "5 reasons why I shoot film" video, I can't believe I ran across the same person/channel while switching between analog and digital photography hahaha
I love my Q! The tiny lenses make this a true pocket camera for the street and concerts. I wish they'd make an updated version with the same lenses, but with social media features... wifi/bluetooth transfer, better video, etc. My wife said it best... go ahead and sell your K3 if you must but don't you dare sell your "little camera." Birthday parties and travel would not be the same.
I became obsessed with the Pentax Q and bought like 5 of them- all different versions along with a slew of lenses- I eventually sold it all when I compared the images from my iPhone against the Q and the iPhone pics were nicer.........great concept I wish Pentax would have updated this system.
I have a Q7 with 02 and 06 lenses. I enjoyed them a lot for everyday casual photography until my purchase of the Pana GM5 a couple of years ago . Thanks to you Mattias, I will take my Q7 off the seldom-used-but-not-for-sale shelf and use it more for street photography. I always admire how you invigorate enthusiasm for photography in many different ways.
Hi, I am watching this for the third time! While I don't have Pentax Q camera, I do have a Lumix LX7 which has a similar size sensor but fixed lens. And while it's old, I still love it. Actually, it's my second copy after selling it and coming across another in NZ. I love how you revisit old cameras and show it doesn't have to be expensive.
aaah! I had a Pentax Q a while back - I was obsessed with it!! It's so cute! I've been toying with the idea of buying one again but they've held their value surprisingly well!
Mattias Burling it was so cool. I loved the pop up flash, and the tiny lenses. Then they brought out the version with all the mad colours... Such a great camera!
Micro Four Nerds yeah I would buy another copy in a second at such a price. I payed a fair bit more but got the nr1, 2 and 3 lenses included. Also mine was mistakenly listed as a Q10 which often go a bit cheaper.
Two of my favourite photo 'tubers in conversation - priceless. Matthias, this is the second time you've had me buying a camera , this one was less expensive at least ( phew) Though on the whole I'm with MFN and my daily driver is a gx8. Thanks to both of you.
You were so convincing that I ordered one which arrived from Japan yesterday. I took it out today for a few pics. And a short vid. The color and sharpness are very good. The movie option is excellent. Came with the 02 and 06. There is an 01 on the way. Thanks for the help. Tak.
I watch so many Video from your channel to buy a Camera and after each video review I want to buy the one you reviewed... So I still don't know what am I going to buy but the Ricoh Gxr, Ricoh Gr, This Pentax and the KP, seems to be my favorite.... But all your video make me wanna buy all the camera lol. Thanks for all the video you 've done, so inspiring, and helpful as well
Well, I fell in love with it, too. I have a white Q-S1 coming from Japan with the 02 and 06 lenses. I'll see if I can pick up an 01 lens. I enjoy your reviews very much. They are both serious and light-hearted. Tak.
The smallest interchangable lens camera, how cool it is! I'm into the old lenses lately. I'm planning to use this or nikon 1 to adapt good old fast c-mount lenses without vignetting. For street and daily pictur shooting, I really need small cameras.
14:38. I took your advice here, because I already have a Pentax Q and Q10, with 01, 02, 03 and 06 lenses and was hankering after an 08 lens - but they're SO blinking expensive, so I did what you advised and bought a Q7 AND QS1 second hand on Amazon Japan for around the same price as an 08 lens (and as an unexpected, unadvertised bonus, they were like NEW). I may buy an 08 in the future, but I'm not in such a rush now I own a full set of Q series cameras, including the two with bigger sensors. Cheers!
I was looking for a cheap compact camera recently and I was deciding between the Pentax Q and the Olympus PEN E-PL5. Any thoughts on which is better? I'm leaning towards the Q but there is always the itch that more expensive=more better.
@@DarthCody700 what did you choose? I’m leaning to either a pen ep7 or pentax q (i know the price difference is huge 😂). Pentax q seems great but i also want something that i can maybe use for longer which i think the ep7 can provide since it is higher mp and uses mft which has lots of lenses.
Its the best fun go to camera going to work and back at home. I have the same one as yours Q and QS1. But just the bare essentials 01 and 02 plus 05. Trying to get the 06 soon. Thank you for the review might help convince Ricoh-Pentax to release a WR version and it will be much ush cooler.
I wish Pentax revisits this format now that is getting more and more popular. Both Nikon 1 and Q was before its time. It would probably be much easier to make perfect Q nowdays that there is plenty of great sensors available for smartphone industry. Think tiny Q with 108 mp and 8k recording. That could be a winner.
Always amazed at the pictures you manage to take regardless of the gear you use. You'd probably still be able to take awesome shots with a toy camera. But this video is not good for someone suffering from GAS ;-) Strange that this camera wasn't more popular as the lens line up looks very interesting. Perhaps due to the sensor size?
Thanks. I believe the price was a factor as well. It cost like a similar speed DSLR and customers back then probably thought small camera = small price.
No need to watch any sort of special videos for motivation. One video of yours and I really want to get outside and start shooting. Too bad Streetphotography isn't possible in Germany. Anyways, excellent video as always. You're amazing!
Marco vić - You'd have to ask every person that could be recognized in the picture for their permission first, but then the scene would be ruined anyway, the moment you wanted to capture is gone.
Coni Glione Thats not really true. In many European countries as well as around the world its perfectly fine to publish pictures of people without ever asking. In fact, they aren't even allowed to stop you if they don't want to be in it. In Germany they have recently passed a new law making it more difficult.
"better not to risk some lawsuit" kinda funny that a sentence like that comes from you after saying we germans are too afraid of breaking some rules :D. But yeah photographing people on an event would be kinda possible, but only if I don't "selectivly" shoot people out of a mass (does this sentence make any sense?). But not only does my town have rarely any events, it's also small enough for your idea to camouflage yourself as an tourist to become useless. Also Eventphotography isn't really the same as streetphotography. But this doesn't mean I'm not trying. www.flickr.com/photos/154010718@N06/albums/72157686537233671 Here is an album of photos I shot during the, as I would call it, the biggest event in my city. Once a year we the "Autumn Days" for 3 days and most of these photos were made during the first evening/night. I tried my best to give some visual insight in this event. And thanks for your advice.

Bro, this is one of the best reviews I’ve ever seen, bravo 🎉🎉🎉
this video inspired me to make the decision to go for this camera over another small "pocketable" cameras.
Enjoy! :)
Hi I’m planning to buy 1 for me can u suggest me how can i get a vintage picture from this camera, do i have to buy extra lense for the vintage looks
@@weisaints2016 yes, if you want to go for the real vintage look without using filters or something of that sort, you’d need to get a lens adapter and some vintage lenses for the Q.
@@raiqulikesyou thank you brother for your reply, I’m still confused what should i buy pentax q, q-s1 or q7 🙂
It is always fascinating to see how unimportant the sensor size is for the quality of your photos! Great video as always! Thank you!
Your videos are so full of enthusiasm and life. They're fascinating, but they also make me happy!
Oh my God, it’s finally here! I have literally been checking youtube EVERY DAY, waiting for this video!
After this video its not gonna be affordable anymore ;)
Now I cannot buy any Pentax Q-anything in Thailand, not even a used one. 😭
Priceless!
This decrease in video frequency is completely unjustified! Love your videos man.
Focus will be manual with all lenses but the big plus is the leaf shutter which gives a range from 1/1000s to 30s
With a crop factor of X 5.6 a lens like the excellent Pentax 100mm macros (there are several to choose from) will give an effective focal length of 560mm, and if that's not enough, a 300mm lens will give a reach of 1650mm.
I didn't know it had a shutter... awesome. Would be fun with my 70mm limited :)
Do you have a model number for the Pentax adapter?
I know I'm commenting on an old video, but I genuiely liked it and this has inspired me to get one of these (still in the process). Who'd have thought such small lenses have a leaf shutter and a built in ND filter and the body being built like a tank. Love your videos, informative and can easily watch them twice or more ;)
I think this is my favourite of all the reviews you've done. You waited 7 years to get your Q, I'm waiting 9 years and counting, but one day...
I own both the original Q and the Q7 as well as the 01 and the 06 lenses. I hardly get to shoot with them anymore since I do all my serious work with the K-1 now but the Q is definitely the most fun camera I have ever used. Enjoyed your thoughts on the system.
The look, the photo, the price, the easiness of carrying it around. Thanks for the recommendation!
I had no interest in the camera but this video was so well done. the compositions were wonderful and that grain is reminiscent of the 35mm days. And the music was spot on as well, you did a really great job :)
Hurray! a new video! I’ve watched your Leica m8 videos a dozen of times now and I’m still on the fence 😅, so it’s a welcome distraction!
I just took out my original Q last weekend to take some photos on a birthday and man, I immediately regret that it was gathering dust the last year. Ordered a used 08 on Sunday, now the Spring can come. Keep having fun!!!
Johannes Hainer you will love the 08 :)
I might say this is one of the best Q review. 💖 i have a Qs1 and made me realize the camera is better than how it looks. thanks
The snowy landscape shots are stunning ! Great review.
Im getting the qs1 on 2024! Thanks for the review
As usual, soothing, nice shots, fine music, good audio... and a cameo by your doggie!
I am sure you can show us similar great photos with any cheap compact camera.
cfagil as long as the camera is fun to use one will get nice shots :)
Best Q review I’ve seen.
I predict thar this camera will become a classic; if you have it, keep it. I have the Qs-1 with the #1 #2 and #6. Looove it! I use japanese UV filters on all of my lenses. Thank you for your video.
You convinced me. I bought a Q7 and some lenses. Contemplating getting the Q for its superior build quality.
Glad to hear :)
I just bought one of these with the number 01 lense for 20€ on a flea market today. I had never heard of them, but the form factor and the interchangeable lense system intrigued me.
Coming back home I find you reviewing the camera which made me quite happy. Well spent 20 euros!
That's a very nice find.
@@gearreallydoesntmatter I think I found one reason why the camera was this cheap. The system seems to shut down for no reason from time to time. That only happens when the lense is on, so I might be able to use the body but not the lense. But since the camera alone is a good find for 20€ I'm still very happy :-)
I recognize that dog from the "5 reasons why I shoot film" video, I can't believe I ran across the same person/channel while switching between analog and digital photography hahaha
one of best passionate camera review one can watch... Bravo!
I love your content, always makes me want to go out and shoot. Keep it up Mattias! (Now I really want the Pentax Q...)
+Steve Nunez you have a 200mm leaf shutter lens on an iPhone? ;)
Micro Four Nerds they have, but I did see a nice UK deal on eBay while looking for mine :)
And someone in the comments recently snagged one at $20...
Mattias Burling it was so cool. I loved the pop up flash, and the tiny lenses. Then they brought out the version with all the mad colours... Such a great camera!
Mattias Burling TWENTY DOLLARS?!?!
Matthias, this is the second time you've had me buying a camera , this one was less expensive at least ( phew)
Though on the whole I'm with MFN and my daily driver is a gx8.
Thanks to both of you.
So that's where your latest INS pictures come from! I'm impressed!
I love the lens on this little camera. My little video of it seems to show that it's still popular. Keep up the good work. :)
Great review. I'm planning to buy this camera this coming month. I already love it.
I can’t understand why, but the photos are perfect!
Thanks for reminding me I have a Q and Q-7. I had almost forgotten. Thumbs up!
Tak.
Thank you so much for this review. I picked one up and its a blast to shoot with and I always carry it.
Blir alltid på gött humör, när jag ser dina videos och sugen på att fotografera :)
Cool :)
Wonderful review, and beautiful video as always!
shocks me how well you can use such a "limited" device, good job!
Great review. Habla for taking the time to remind us about these options! Cheers
very fun to use camera and a lot of surprise when you go back home take a seat to see picture in computer.
Thanks for the vid! the stills look incredible! There is a magic atmosphere in it! Vintage and historical.
Thanks :)
i love my qs! thank you for this great love letter to this wonderful system! ❤❤❤
Cheers!
Was waiting for forever all the teasing from your insta posts
I was looking for a cheap compact camera recently and I was deciding between the Pentax Q and the Olympus PEN E-PL5. Any thoughts on which is better? I'm leaning towards the Q but there is always the itch that more expensive=more better.
Thats a prime example of expensive not meaning better. The PL series is their entry level line.
Happy member of the Q cult. I'm yet to find somebody that tries the Q that doesn't walk away wanting one.
Sk4zZi0uS its a drug :)
I have a Q-S1 and it's awesome!
"It is sharp enough for me"
Good extensive review Mattias. The old Pentax 110 lenses work a treat on this system too
Camera Rover Yup, and cost nothing :)
No interest in the camera, but watched your entire video and loved it. Thanks so much. Adored your enthusiasm. maybe I should be interested.
I have a Pentax MX-1, which was basically the same as this camera. with a faster aperture zoom. Also had some brass plates on it. Love it.
JonUIUC I sold mine. Regret it every day.
I missed out on buying the MX-1 for £125. I still wish I'd bought it and the prices have shot up on them too.
I still have both, mx-1 with kiwi adapter, and q with the complete series of lens plus some extra. They are indeed very versatile, and unique.
No need to watch any sort of special videos for motivation. One video of yours and I really want to get outside and start shooting. Too bad Streetphotography isn't possible in Germany. Anyways, excellent video as always. You're amazing!
Why isnt possible?
Last time i checked it was physically possible.
