As a child, forty something years ago we had cornfields near our home and my Dad used to take me to watch the harvesting.
As an adult, 50 in November, I still love to watch it especially in the dark.

I wish we had held our nerve for an extra day, Our moisture started at 15.7 in the morning and finished at 14.4 in the evening. The promised storm never came, it went around us and up the river Severn instead. Great light show.... but apart from a few drops.... No rain. Oh for a crystal ball.

Your films are a joy and remind me of my Great Uncles farm in Somerton, Somerset who was very traditional in that everything was from horse dawn days plus a threshing machine and several very elderly Fordson tractors, one or two of which worked! In the 1950,60’s it was a picture book but probably highly inefficient. He never worried..as long as they had something to eat, he didn’t care. I wish I had pictures to show but Harry...keep cutting, ploughing and seeding...it makes us feel good! 😀😀😀😀

Another cracking video with equally exciting commentary. Latest we went on night was 04.30 am. Spring barley, moisture was low, straw didn't get damp, boss gave us a choice: to stop late night or keep going because he would have to pay us at the week end anyway. We kept trosh'in. Had a slight rain which cause straw to wrap around header. Moisture still good. Finnish the whole lot by 20.00 the following day (Friday). Thanks Hugh & Darren!
