Hemorrhoids are not associated with portal hypertension. In portal hypertension you can see rectal varices which are absolutely not hemorrhoids. Hemorrhoids are specific organs of the anal canal which develop during fetal life. They are erectile tissues and better called corpus cavernosum ani. This is an essential aspect of anorectal anatomy and physiology.
