The chassis are usually custom built, but I'm pretty sure there are certain regulations governing the design (wheelbase, weight, wheel size, tire width, etc). These soapboxes are less about speed and more about novelty. Actual modern soapbox cars however, are absolutely insane. I love how they have music to match the themed racers! I caught a Star Wars song during the X-Wing run and a rendition of the Ghostbusters theme during the ECTO-ONE run, how fun!
The cart at 6:55 looks like it's made entirely of plywood, even the wheels. It had the least amount of excessive flex while landing off the ramps, with the wood flexing to absorb impacts.
The car running in the shape of a can was also cool. I was nervous as I watched the car running with the chocolate bucket because it was really dangerous. I think car number 41 went well because it calmly cleared away even when visibility was blocked. It seems like the cars require tremendous jumping skills. It was nice to see cars of various designs. I hope no one gets hurt during this event. The car decorated with a billiards table was also cool. Thank you for sharing this video.
I think they’re booing whenever the racers skip the jump because the people at London came here to see thrills and stunts, and racers going full send, not bland, slow runs without any thrills
