He was so happy to see her smile and laugh and happy. Relief and in peace are the terms that I might use to describe Soohyun in this scene huhuhu.... Even though it is very subtle, but you know, expression/action speaks louder than words. It shows on his face. He loves every moment that involves her smiling and in happy mode. Like the OST lyrics(I don't know which OST) where it says ‘I like to look at you’ or ‘I love seeing you like this’, I don't know if the lyrics are correct or not but it do means the same like those words. Well, just like the OST, it was clear that he loves seeing her face full of joy and happiness. At least, that is the only way for him to love her, in that kind of way. It is hard for him to express his feelings to her, so all that he can do is look at her and fill his memory with her smile. It is so sad for him to love her and protect her in that kind of way 😢😢😢😢

Plus, I think she do know it was him, but she still believe and put a lot of faith in him as her one and only precious friend and person in her life. She still have faith that Soo Hyun is still the same person as she remember him when they were children. She is afraid of losing and feeling lonely I think. She's hoping that the killer is not him. That's my personal opinion.
