Thanks a lot, I really appreciate that! I always had a hard time to find other styles on a PRS too😅 But these guitars are great for a huge array of styles/genres 💪
Hi David, thanks a lot! It's a PRS custom 22 from 2009 with dragon 2 pickups. There is no amp involved here. The magic piece is the GFI System Cabzeus Stereo, a speaker simulator. Adding a bit reverb from my DAW, a little mixing and it sounds pretty good 👍😄
Hey George, in this case its recorded without an amp😅. Its direct into the GFI System Cabzeus Stereo into my DAW and a little bit of reverb and mixing. When using a real amp maybe try to turn down the tone knob on the guitar a bit and maybe even the volume knob, so that the amp doesn’t get too much input. And try a thicker pick👍😁 good luck 👋👌
@@arneluebbertyguitar5980 I have the Boss Dual Cube and Yamaha THR5A which be used as interface to colour tone. I have dual outputs on PRS - Piezo to Yamaha acoustic amp and magnetic to Boss . I use Ableton with a Presonus interface for mics. I am struggling to get that lovely tone you have on this magnificent recording. Ive got some jim dunlop puretone and jazz-iii picks on the way. I will try as you suggest . I might be overdoing the input and roll off . i usually play acoustic. PRS Hollowbody Piezo is my first electric Very helpful thanks.
First of all thanks for your great playing. I was looking for a clean jazz sound on a solid PRS so I finally found this video on your great channel. I´d like many things on it like the Soul Dance transcription, the funny Boogie guitar, your A Quiet Jazz composition and also your favorite albums that I suggest you expand for us the list. There is some Metheny influention on your PRS custom playing and I´ve heard a little bit of Holdsworth in your PRS SE videos. I saw also one yamaha combo that I´ve had in the past. My model was g100-210. I´d like to know with gauge strings you prefer to use on PRS. Do you think 0.11 maybe a good choice for a jazzy sound? Or to sound more versatile and fusion you go on 0.10? Congratulations, Paulo (Brazil).
Hey Paulo, thank you for the kind words! In my opinion the PRS guitars have so much punch in the mids (I think that's because of the mahagoni construction) that it doesn't need 11s or more. I played 10s most of the time, more recently even 9s. The playability for me is largely affected by the thickness of the neck. If the neck is bigger I tend to use 9s if it's thinner 10s are also ok. All in all the string gauge doesn't affect the tone as much as we think I feel😅 The Yamaha is a nice amp indeed. I want to try some moder. Transistor amps soon. Have a nice day and greetings from Hamburg 😄👍🎵🎶
Hey Kenneth, thanks a lot I appreciate that! It's just the guitar into the GFI system Cabzeus Stereo (a speaker simulator) and into my interface. No amp involved here. Just added some reverb from my DAW and some little mixing. Take care👍
FINALLY some real music on a PRS other than METAL! Great tune playing over the changes and good jazz tone!
