Mdou Moctar - "Afrique Victime (Live)"

- Live in Niamey, Niger.
In winter 2020, the Mdou Moctar band met up in Niamey, the capital of Niger, to record a few songs in anticipation of the release of, Afrique Victime (May 21st on Matador Records). We were staying on the outskirts of town at a friend's home. One day, we quietly set up in front of the house to film a few songs. Despite our relative isolation, the noise of the band inevitably attracted a crowd. What started as the four of us simply playing a few songs for a camera turned into a three-night run of rowdy concerts, bringing in hundreds of eager listeners. Each night, kids from all over the city would line up at our door, rushing over after their final evening prayer. These performances were completely spontaneous and wholly unplanned. Thanks to our audience, we were able to capture the spectacular energy of a typical Niamey concert for you. We're thrilled about it and hope you will be, too. Enjoy!

Every player in this band is so unbelievably good. I've actually never heard someone play a conventional drumset like that.
We ask God to liberate my region from ignorance, slavery, tribalism, corruption, tyranny, tyranny, and establish God’s law and the Sunnah of His Messenger.
That Drummer is No Joke, Legendary!
If you come afric youll see that they make rytm with all the people starthin 5 years old their music is all rhytm and melodic jumping but also feeling may come
And more.
@@Musicagine try to know. Never forget. Always in your head.
You bet.
YEah man!! What;s his name>
The moment those kids started dancing ! Thanks for that
The Soul of Jimi Hendrix floated to the Sahara
Reminds me of when Carlos Santana hit the American musical scene. Awesome!
jimmy hendrix of AFRICA
The soul of the Sahara floated to Jimi. Mali, Niger, the countries of the Sahel and the Tureg (probably spelled that wrong) peoples created the sound American blues came from.
That's right!!!@@mikequinlivan8842
Love from Barbados
It's been a while since I witnessed a rock star and their band, just plain and simple, killing it.
Fuck yeah
I straight up cried seeing them. Pure joy.
I love how much the tempo of this song changes from performance to performance. A real legit rock band.
Best part was the 1st part of the set and all the kids broke out dancing so hard dust was everywhere. Pure bliss of music makes anywhere no matter the harsh world around , it will make you forget your troubles real quick .
❤
I thought the same exact thing. Of the 1,000 shows we did, one of the memorable ones I remember was an outdoor show where we got kids to come up on stage for a song. I was at the foot of the stage and saw the kids faces as they were walking down and the word 'bliss' is the perfect description.
@@vlada right, it was music at its finest. And that's really cool, what was your bands name and what kind of music did you guys play?
I love this!!
@@vladakeep rocking my friend!!

He looks cooler than the Grim Reaper, totally untouchable. But the music is real. They're gonna shake the world.
The genius of Mdou Moctar.
Mdou Moctar is his own genius. I tire of the comparisons to Hendrix. Mdou Moctar stands on his own. He is a true original.
This band deserves a stage at all times.
One of the greatest living guitarist. Everyone needs to hear this music.
He should find a lead singer.
One of the most exciting performances I've seen in recent years, I love that there's no separation between band and audience, and the children are absolutely into it. I hope to see you guys live some day, much love from Argentina.
You can't find a better crowd than them lmao. This is the power of music, right here.
When they start the mosh pit at 1:00 it's so dope. This is the best band I've heard this year, wish I'd discovered them sooner.
No matter where you may live in this big rock luving earth music brings people together!!!
Respect to that African sister who just don’t care but to dance 🤘🏾

Lefty like Hendrix. He would blow Jimi's mind.
This makes me so happy, ans also so sad (you know, for nostalgic reasons, remembering to come together for live music and dance around...seems like a distant memory).
Thanks for posting in your deep cuts email.
Love it when the kids start dancing - You can't stand still to music that good
Saludos desde Chile 🇨🇱
I just love African guitar. Songhoy Blues is one of my favourites- a lot like Mdou.
Mdou moctar is something everyone should experience once in their life.. This is something we shall preserve for the future.. There is so much culture and the human experience in these sounds and music.. It's like a book of sounds telling the stories of a thousand years
That was beautiful. Occasionally Mdou would slightly reveal the pride he felt with a sly smile!
Amazing music and band, love from Romania !
This guy and the band are legendary
That's the essence of Music .. ♥ with Love & Respect from Tunisia ..
This is revolutionary. We are witnessing the birth of something very big.
With solo guitar gradually disappearing from music in the last few years, it's really wonderful listen to this.
Not accurate.
Tuareg guitarists are the last hope 😢
from pop music yes i guess, but if you want solo guitar there's more stuff out there now than there ever was
Its rekindled in this part of the world.
I love how the lead guitarist slapped the devil out of that black child at 1.45. This music performance really speaks to me.
This whole album is absolutely incredible. Love from Canada.
This is so pure and authentic. Thank you so much for keeping the rock flame alive.
The grown ups in the audience don´t know how to live in the moment like the kids do. Love the music
Mdou was definitely born with a purpose and now he is living it
And he will inspire countless others to be like him.
Amazing!!! They’re getting lots of airplay on our NPR, UT radio station in Austin! We love you!! ❤️

A top band from the last 10 years no doubt.
Following these artists of the Sahara for years now.

I was watching an interview with him where he apologized for sometimes getting his French and English (both of which he is fluent in) a bit mixed up. And he speaks music better than all of the rest. Genius! Great band all around bringing vibes of unity.
