I was a fireman at Didcot in 1964 and was lucky enough to work with some of the greatest men any one could work with proper proper gentlemen. happy happy days
David Oldham ......Hi David. We shot this on 16mm film. Ariflex SR 2 and Ariflex BL. Film stock was Kodak 7247 negative. Audio, Nagra 4 (tape). All film transferred via telecine to 1” C format for editing. All this was around 1987?
@@Tarantara. thanks for the info Mark. It's great material really and captures the atmosphere beautifully. It'd be great to have the final film all remastered and upscaled to HD standards
Lovely GWR Great video Love some of behind the scenes stuff. Breakfast on the shovel. Dropping the fire and other dirty Jobs. Thanks. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Howard
This is a lovely video I used to own a copy & watched it a few times over. Full of atmosphere and surprisingly enough I bought it from a shop in Richmond Yorkshire for a £1 sometime around the early nineties believe it or not. That was a pound well spent.
Believe it or not I actually prefer the version with the commentary. There’s some really interesting stuff about the design and development of the different locomotives. This version is great to though.
What I Meant to Say in My Organel Comment Box That I am Rewiteing to Say is I Hope This Film Will Hopefully Be Digitally Remasterd And Made on to DVD Hopefully with Narration On and Off Salect Menu PS I Love The Sights and Sounds of The GWR of God's Wonderful Railway.
This was made at the Severn valley railway and also didcot. It also looks like they may have gone to tyseley loco works when clun castle 7029 was being filmed.
@@bradrevitt9548 its called classical peace (A) it’s only on the Francis monkman channel I think you find the channel by going on to power pulse in the description and then the channel

Privileged to have filmed this with Peter Stack and Ken Gamble for Swanlind Films. The best assignment ever.
What equipment were you guys using back then?
Also around what year(s) if you can remember?
