Hunt for the Ivory Billed Woodpecker, The largest of the woodpeckers north of Mexico and the third largest in the world, the Ivory-billed Woodpecker was a bird of old-growth forests in the southeastern U.S. and Cuba. Destruction of its forest habitat caused severe population declines in the 1800s, and only very small numbers survived into the twentieth century. It was thought to have gone extinct in the middle of the twentieth century. I was lucky to hear and see one in the summer of 2018.

@@Ivory-BilledWoodpeckerBu-en3wx If there are any, it would be easy to deploy Audiomoths and record their vocalizations. They had a very distinctive call note. Everyone always focuses on photographic evidence. Sadly, I believe that the species is long gone.
How many people are looking for it on your team?
Small team of two but large community of many so we compare notes and observations in hopes some finds a hot zone. Then we concentrate efforts to that area.
