I’ve lived in a small “safe” little town my whole life. When I was about 21 I was visiting my girlfriend at her college in a big city, and I had to take the bus from there to the train station. I’d never been on a city bus before, had no clue where to get off or how to get to the station from there, so I just asked some people on the bus. They were all very helpful. One lady lived in the hood nearby and offered to walk with me. She told me a bunch of the same tips on this video. Told me to keep everything in my pockets and not to look at anybody. She also told me about how the hood led her to addiction but she found god and Jesus after so many horrible things happened to her and she was saved and beat her addictions. Still thankful for her to this day.

As a white boy from the suburbs who spent 6 years delivering pizza in the hood, these are all great tips. As long as you’re calm and collected, keep to yourself, and walk with confidence, you’ll be fine. I’ve only had two negative encounters, the first was because I was lost and kept driving around the block looking for a house. About 5 or 6 dudes walked up to my car and asked what the problem is, all I had to say was “my bad, I’m delivering food and don’t come around here often, I’m not here for any trouble.” They just dapped me up and said not to drive around like that in those areas. The second time, it was 2 AM and the streets were empty. I parked across the street from the house I was delivering to, and when I walked back to my car some dude popped outta nowhere with a knife and tried robbing me. I, perhaps stupidly, yet CONFIDENTLY reached for my waistband as if I had a gun, which I didn’t. Thankfully, that was enough to send the dude running in the other direction. As long as carrying yourself the right way you’ll be on their good side. There was one area where people would literally holler out “Ayo white boy” and hype me up every time I came around once they knew my car, we’d always have a good laugh 😂
I mean, when most people in the hood either grow up with bad parents or no parents at all, most of them would pretty much end up as grown up toddlers...

Man, I’ve experienced a lot of this growing up. I grew up in a small desert town with a few gangs. Nothing crazy, but I’ve been robbed in the same way where they say “oh, I like that”. I’ve also learned a lot. I would say I felt pretty safe the entire time because I just kept my own business and acted like I knew where I was going. One night I remember being run up on by several gang members with a huge shotgun and I was in a car with a couple friends, and they asked what we were doing there and we were all just high on drugs and told them and they just took our cigarette and told us to leave . Lots of stories, I can tell you, but in the end, I never felt really worried there because I grew up there And you kind of learn these things naturally. But yeah, it’s cool watching this because I realize I just learned all of this as I grew up and has helped me a LOT in life When others don’t know how to act. Especially that part about acting dumb. That’s saved my ass so many times.
I stayed sleeping in my car near my gf house and the drug cartel came knocking on my window with ARs, I froze when I saw them, they asked me where im from and why im there. I answered my gf and her whole family were from here and they acknowledged and offered me to take me to safety because they were on alert by rival gangs, they ended getting in my car and we all went to their main HQ where at least i saw 70+ people with guns gathered, I dropped them off and they offered me some cocaine while some were snoring some, i said no thanks and drove away to the highway to keep sleeping until morning, but a police car woke me up at sunrise checking on me, i just told about my sleep schedule lol. And drove back to my gf house pretending I came back from my house. It was a night I will always remember lol
Respect goes a long way, and not being confrontational unless they are trying to measure you. Learning to laugh at yourself helps to. I learned growing up that way to stay away from certain areas, especially at night.
3:00 I have no idea why, but the phrase "you got any problem" is like universal for thugs. Even in Slavic countries it is like a meme, and I'm almost certain it originated completely separately. Basically whole eastern block was a one big "hood" back in the '90 and the "hood culture" you are showing was pretty much exactly the same, aparat from the slang. Oh and people being very much drunk instead of high on weed.
I absolutely love how y'all put so much effort into making these videos. I'm not even from the US nor do I pass through any hoods. But there's some good common knowledge in here that some people definitely missed growing up. Like minding your own business, don't act a fool, don't make yourself a target and keep it cool. Y'all are doing great, keep it up!
The one cracking up in the stair scene makes me realise: Despite the fact you’re all nailing the menacing look for these, you’re really a bunch of nice people. And thank you for helping those who may end up in « the hood! »
Bruh, i grew up in the area about a mile outside the city limits and when i hit my early 20's i moved into the hood because of certain circumstances (ie broke af). So, i bounced between the southside and west side for almost 20 years until about 6 months ago. Learning this on my own being a wb from the suburbs of my Chicago took a lot, especially only runnin by myself. You're tips are 💯 and I honestly thought this was gonna be a joke but you doin all the lil homies a solid! And its light/comical so its easy to learn. This is gold to the up and comers! Keep it up bruh, you doin a solid for whoever sees this!
My dad's side is from the hood. So I'm frequently there and I've instinctly known these tips growing up. Being relaxed like you live there and keeping your head forward is the biggest thing.
Well, what if you're not only a big dude but strong from weight lifting, but a tough dude who can take hits cause you went up against 5 G's. And didn't get your tail whipped, injured, or bruised up.

I hated living in the hood. I never had real trouble because I fell into most of these things naturally and had a very stone serious face. But I did tempt fate several times telling off strange men because I don’t do disrespect. I grew up in one hood and lived in another during college on the come up (South Bronx that time). I’m so glad I live over a thousand miles away now in a quiet and beautiful suburb/rural area in a lovely home of my own. No ghetto mess or having to have your head on a swivel. I may be one of the few people of color here, but everyone is so kind and I wouldn’t trade it for anything.
Yeah, I live in the suburbs now too. I've lived in a few hoods for a short time in my life due to finding Apts that I could afford or while in the Army. Having street smarts, staying calm and giving respect kept me safe.
I live out in the country now but I used to live in a rough area for about a year after I moved out of my parents house with my (now) wife. The most important thing I learned is just mind your own business. Don’t give anyone any reason to even notice you. Looking like you belong is THE MOST IMPORTANT THING and I cannot stress that enough. Keep it up ODAWG, you’re doing gods work.
I'm from South Italy (Sicily to be specific so you know, the birthplace of mafia or mob) and it's shocking how much the hoods are similar. There are two major differences: 1) People don't get robbed so often no more thanks (ironically) to the mob that need the environment to be relatively safe to push drugs 2) The skin colour (for obvious reason) That's fascinating in a way lol
@@user-en5vj6vr2u there is more than poverty in this environment. My home country was really poor decades ago and there is no record of gangster culture.

White guy here. Grew up in the hood myself although honestly it truly wasn’t we were mostly cool with each other and have each other’s backs to this day. At one point I moved to one of the more dangerous urban areas, and my experience which resonates with all these tips has helped me walk out of some dicey situations unscathed. The techies though who aren’t from there on the other hand are fools and prime targets. The people up to no good would think I’m an outsider at first until we engage….but yea. Great video.
It was a night I will always remember lol
dang
Damn you 1 lucky f#ck😳
DAMN.... They gon back you up😳
Respect goes a long way, and not being confrontational unless they are trying to measure you. Learning to laugh at yourself helps to. I learned growing up that way to stay away from certain areas, especially at night.
Cartel? Bruh you best be in South America saying the word cartel cuz these gangs are not cartels 💀

Like minding your own business, don't act a fool, don't make yourself a target and keep it cool.

And thank you for helping those who may end up in « the hood! »
Boy, you had me thinking it was MY smoke alarm chirping!!!!! Now that’s hood 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Do you think they'll still mess with big strong guy. Especially if he Knox first guy out with first punch Or even if he picked him up and slammed him.

""Look like you belong"...i.e. look like a total uneducated no-hoper who will soon end up dead or in jail lolol
I'm from South Italy (Sicily to be specific so you know, the birthplace of mafia or mob) and it's shocking how much the hoods are similar. There are two major differences:
1) People don't get robbed so often no more thanks (ironically) to the mob that need the environment to be relatively safe to push drugs
2) The skin colour (for obvious reason)
That's fascinating in a way lol
(1) is the biggest issue with the hood.
Palermo is full pu$$!3$
Poverty is poverty, that’s why every hood the same
@@user-en5vj6vr2u there is more than poverty in this environment.

Funny yet really good tips

If a middle aged stringy looking dude is just wearing a wife beater and adidas, you have no clue what he used to run, so just give a subtle, polite nod.
In general, a subtle nod and moving like you've got a purpose can get you far.
If you win money from strangers, spend the winnings on the company. That'll earn you friends for life.
Never cross the street, 'cause people might take it as an insult.
