Been a regular drinker of high abv beers since my mid twenties (for two decades). Blood and protein in urine, 135/90 blood pressure, 89 resting pulse, elevated cholesterol, fasting glucose 108. I'm 6 weeks clean and just had a checkup, every one of these indicators is now perfectly normal. I'm already 15 pounds lighter, I feel so good and I'm sleeping better than I ever have. I'm never going back after this.
@@Jack-hy1zq ~ I'm 77 years old now and I've never been addicted to alcohol. But several of my friends were addicted to it, and it destroyed their lives. But they were unhappy people to begin with. But I've known a few other people who quit drinking who became self-righteous A-Holes about it. And that is what I see going on with practically all of these "Hate Alcohol" crusaders who keep posting their worthless videos on UA-cam.

I've known quite a number of alcoholics during my lifetime (I'm 77 years old now), plus I've known quite a number of self-righteous T-totalers, and I will admit that while neither group were happy people, that by and large the alcoholics were noticeably happier people than the T-totalers. Not only happier than the T-totalers, but also better plugged into the reality of life in America.

It’ll take a few weeks to a month for most drinkers. But the obsession can last for years. The disease” is in the mind.
This Ted talk has sold me to stop alcohol and start weed instead.
