Wow. Just stepped back into my youth and can’t get enough. I’ve been living in the dark for too long. Gonna pull the flannel and the docs out of the closet and live again.
PAW will forever remind me of bro growing up who took his life in 2019. We wore Dragline out playing it so much. Snowboarding, camping, driving, partying. RIP LT, you are so missed man. I hope you're no longer suffering.
I wish I had a friend like him... sounds like your bro was a really solid dude.. I'm so sorry for your loss brother.. I am sure his suffering is ended. Bless you and I'm sorry for your loss.
Omg - I am sooo old - I now have a mortgage and a car that seems insane to buy but listening to this reminds me of when I was a child and I had this on a vhs that had a bunch of bands that I would constantly watch in the living room when my folks were asleep - fuck time goes too fast - I miss being a kid - life was so good back then ... Now everything cost money and I miss my grand parents
hey hey there ..... L, KS representin rite here ... lol. is a lil bit deep-er ... a lil bit -- than some1 might think from a few snap shots .... - peace ; p
The lyrics are weirdly poetic and create an almost Lovecraftian, curious image. I mean writing basic, placating lyrics like going to a dock and finding fish or helping some fisherman and thinking of your cheating ex, and other such tropes wouldn't have hurt this song at all, so it's fun to me how they instead went for this interesting little story.
Grun (rip Ben) and Alice (rip Layne) were both Seattle bands - is that your hometown? If so, my band opened up for PAW at the Crocodile when they toured for Dragline...they blew us off the stage, it was amazing. The guitar is one of the best I ever heard - they were really good live.
I love PAW... have since I first heard em back in '93. I also still listen to this CD at least once if not more a Week.. man I sure miss this band and the 90's..
The guitar solo at the end is so fucking brilliant, I mean really genius level brilliant so that I wonder why they didnt get the type of success of Pearl Jam etc. Life is stupid.
Discovering Paw years after my first time ever hearing them on the soundtrack to Road Rash on the Playstation 1. Bear in mind I'm from Ireland - heavy guitar riffs are practically banned from our music. F**k me these guys were good. How the hell did they just sort of disappear? Can't beat good, quality 90's grunge. I've now listened to the entire Dragline CD from UA-cam and it's amazing. May try and snag a copy on EBay or somewhere... I need more Paw in my life, clearly.
Is it true riffs like the are really banned from your music? I'm from the US so forgive my ignorance!! I've heard bands like the dubliners and the pouges, the highlanders, etc. But they seem to be moor traditional. Is it really banned though?
The sun beats down on my tan and my well fed body And the fishermen down at the end of the pier Strike a cord of curiosity with their thick lines They caught something big and they asked me, could I lend a hand? Want you to see, what I--What I could not see I want you to know, what I, I could not know They got the webs down underneath her And we started to pull her up As she started to abandon all her children As she got alongside the pier I stared into her one sad Eye And I, I began to dream I want you to see, what I, what I could not see I want you to know, what I, what I could not know The most beautiful thing I've ever seen Oh she's staring back at me She was eight feet long and she weighed four hundred twenty pounds And I named all her children in hopes that they'd obtain some degree of her perfection And it will take them all two years to hit the water I want you to see, what I, what I could not see I want you to know, what I, what I could not know The most beautiful thing I've ever seen Oh she's staring back at me Here's the rub She, she's not coming back And that's why...I sing this song I could not know that my that my son I could not see, what I'd become Believe To bring her back To take it away, everything... (fade..)
Saw them live in '95. They should have been a lot bigger, but seems to be down to luck more than talent. Still, at least they are alive unlike most of their contemporaries eh?
Ah, the sun beats down On my tan and my well-fed body And the fishermen at the end of the pier Strike a chord of curiosity With their thick lines Yeah, they've caught something big And they asked me Can I lend a hand? First heard of them and their songs when i bought a game Road Rash for Sega Cd. That game made me like rock alternative music also watched their music video Jessie all the time in that gAme.
If you loved Paw like I did, then you're gonna dig this: Godzillionaire... Check them out on Reverb Nation. Two tracks available so far. Mark Hennessey fronted another band called 1950DA with another local prodigy named Brody Buster and they were good. But this is amazing stuff!!!! Hennessey clearly can kill it vocally every bit as good as ever. I'm going to see them May 29th in Lawrence at the Jackpot. BE THERE!!!!
@KristinNirvana I was in Seattle during the height of grunge; and yes it was awesome! The movie "Singles", that's how it was. It was truly a Woodstock-type of generation and the last real USA scene of music and creativity. I do feel bad younger kids are force-fed rap and pop by the media; but the nice thing is you have the internet to check out new music. Back then it was all fan-zines and word of mouth. Unfortunately, it was all too short and we had to eventually grow-up, lol.
Mark looks so sexy at this music video. They weren’t music videos fan but imagine if they had more music videos like this. This is one of the best music videos I’ve ever seen.
Just discovered this band, and even though they sounded great my theory on why they never hit it big is maybe because by 1993 The grunge scene was already starting to become old news, so many good bands like this one never really had a chance to become mainstream
I use to watch this video in MTV when that channel was respectable, I feel jealous beacause this kind of bands were hard to find in magazines. There was no internet.
Haahah!! ;)
1:40 in a moment you'll see the fisherman guy pull the fishing pole back really hard, and not going to lie. I thought that was him playing a guitar and doing a guitar hero move with it
@KristinNirvana Of course I'm kind of older and out of it, but I would think nothing has really changed in DIY underground rock. It helps if you live in a bigger city, but there are rock clubs that you will hear from others which get the best bands and which ones are lame. Music stores which are rarer now w/ internet, but they still exist. They usually have fanzines, flyers, etc. and cork boards filled w/ 3x5 cards for interest groups, like your passion for the 90's. This is the word of mouth way
Paw is the best band I wish I could have seen live. Eastern Long Island guy though. Most underrated rock band ever! Wish every guitar player (such as myself) could listen to their material.
Can't believe at this point that this video has very few views - Someone should start plastering this good old shit all over the internet-sharing is caring lol
i'm sharing it right now on Facebook for a feature where you like a post and are given a letter for a band or artist you like that begins with that letter. i didn't want any of the obvious, Prince, Pink Floyd, Paul McCartney. Then it came to me... PAW!! btw, i live 30 miles from Lawrence and saw them live a couple of times. just as good as on their lp.
@KristinNirvana Soulseek is pretty good for finding rare bands (of course I'd recommend buying their albums but it's hard when so much of this stuff is out of print)
glad im not the only person who thinks this, the highest best bands and cooler things were more highly acknowledged back then, although bands like paw, and under rated or lesser known stuff that was totally kick ass, couldve benefitted alot from those things, unforutunately after the 90s alot of pop culture just went to shit, so we need this stuff more then ever now
I have to disagree...He's perfect for this band.....If you don't like it don't listen...That's pretty simple.... Oh yeah...Lets hear you sing better...I highly doubt you can ...Enough said !!!!!
One of the most underrated bands of their era.
Like Swervedriver, Hammerbox...
Sure
Wow. Just stepped back into my youth and can’t get enough. I’ve been living in the dark for too long. Gonna pull the flannel and the docs out of the closet and live again.
@@N1TRus1 thank you 🙏🏻 for mentioning Hammerbox. One of my favorites period.
@@ChrisNxNW hundred bands, honestly

Youngster!
;●)
Wow. You hit the nail on the head. Cheers. I also had this on VHS.
You are not alone with that
Too true. We all roll on, ok...
All 40 something us feels like you
This band is so underrated, they released one of the best albums fron the 90's. Dragline is a masterpiece💗
Paw's biggest problem, recognition-wise, was that they were from Lawrence, Kansas instead of Seattle or Chicago.
Aw sheeit, Kansas is the reason they had the southerny sound. And besides, Lawrence is awesome haha!
hey hey there ..... L, KS representin rite here ...
lol. is a lil bit deep-er ... a lil bit -- than some1 might think from a few snap shots .... - peace ; p
"Their only problem was their HORRIBLE Songs and Attrocious Lyrics..."
The only problem is that you're a fucking idiot.
True that.....Dragline rocks from start to finish. To bad they got overlooked.
I hear Lawrence is the next Seattle
the best band that no one has heard of....and thats a shame. share paw with everyone!
what a great great album dragline is - never gets old
The lyrics are weirdly poetic and create an almost Lovecraftian, curious image. I mean writing basic, placating lyrics like going to a dock and finding fish or helping some fisherman and thinking of your cheating ex, and other such tropes wouldn't have hurt this song at all, so it's fun to me how they instead went for this interesting little story.
there's multiple levels and stories going on at once here. love it!

this song about a fish. jessie is about a dog. paw really loved to sing about animals.
The guitar solo at the end is so fucking brilliant, I mean really genius level brilliant so that I wonder why they didnt get the type of success of Pearl Jam etc. Life is stupid.
Yeah, I've always thought that about that solo! For me it's one of the defining solos of that era.
The solo to "Sweet Sally Brown" on the album Death to Traitors still hits almost 30 year later!!
@@liftbig03 Good call, another great guitar piece!
Great band! Great album! One of the 90s best! Midwestern grunge from tiny Lawrence, KS. Great music from there & KC at the time. Overlooked!!!

Kerbdog and therapy are both from Ireland and are heavier than this, and therapy were a lot bigger than paw were
Listen to "death to traitors." 'Texas' is a great song.
The sun beats down on my tan and my well fed body
And the fishermen down at the end of the pier
Strike a cord of curiosity with their thick lines
They caught something big and they asked me, could I lend a hand?
Want you to see, what I--What I could not see
I want you to know, what I, I could not know
They got the webs down underneath her
And we started to pull her up

I could not see, what I'd become
Believe
To bring her back
To take it away, everything...

Was lucky enough to have seen these guys play live in Edinburgh circa. 1991-2. Good times!!

Always Loved this song - I was 21 when this came out. Masterpiece!
Тоже люблю эту песню, мне 41
Ah, the sun beats down
On my tan and my well-fed body
And the fishermen at the end of the pier
Strike a chord of curiosity
With their thick lines

Yeah, take it away
Aw, everything
I'll sit on a ledge... outside

Jesus they're good. The singer sounds a little like Billy Idol somehow.
Along with Glenn from the Misfits.
The 90s. No decade will ever compare.
Paw were awesome.
Still are, always will be.
*Are
The most beautiful thing I'd ever seen.
Hearing great bands from the 90s like this one makes me homesick for a place I cant go back to
The word for that is called "saudade". Look it up, it's Portuguese
Right there with you.
First heard of them and their songs when i bought a game Road Rash for Sega Cd. That game made me like rock alternative music also watched their music video Jessie all the time in that gAme.
this song is very sad
This is a rock song with the line, "Here's the rub". That is profoundly badass.
The outro touches my soul more than most music. I will never get tired of this one
Finally on Spotify. Waited so long. Love this band.
FUCK sooo good and so underestinated D:!!
sad that probably people ONLY know them from road rash :)
Awesome song! I never realized, is iit about a fish?
Paw you are not forgotten

Chingoneria de álbum el Dragline lástima que poco valorado
One of the best songs ever .... about fishing .... and really one of the best songs about ANYTHING. Paw rocks
Saw them like 50 times at the bottleneck, etc. owned the stage
Writing a song about fishing just proves you can write a song about anything
One kickass grunge band... way too underrated
Mark looks so sexy at this music video. They weren’t music videos fan but imagine if they had more music videos like this. This is one of the best music videos I’ve ever seen.
This band should of had a song in GTA San Andreas!!!
I completely agree! On Radio X.
Is this song really about fishing?
I've always wondered what the hell type of aquatic creature he sings about in this awesome song?
You know, this band very good! On the same level as Pearl Jam
Услышал их в Road Rash на 3do
So bummed the Run to Texas appearance got cancelled, I was so there 🙁
I came here because i'm learning all about grunge history... Nice band, first time i listen to them... Power, voices... All that i need.
An awesome long Forgotten Grunge Band

what a great album

FM106.3 from down the Jersey Shore schooled me to this back in the day. Matty Pinfield ftw.
Amazing song,
nothing more to say!

5 out 5. One of the best of the 90s.
Is it just me or like are his cymbals really warped, or like is it just the camera effects around the outside of the screen??
The video reminds me of ironic by alanis morrissette

Tame animals feed them fruits and vegetables
These guys bring me back to the early 90's snowboarding scene (TB3).
Sounds more like Gruntruck or Skin Yard than Pearl Jam or Soundgarden. Mark has got a beautiful deep voice, just like Ben McMillan!
Does skin yard have the singer from Gruntruck?
I have to disagree...He's perfect for this band.....If you don't like it don't listen...That's pretty simple.... Oh yeah...Lets hear you sing better...I highly doubt you can ...Enough said !!!!!
Road Rash, 1998... good times.
@ricardirijillo I know the feeling!! in a magazien is where i find bands like Candlebox, Life Of Agony and Seven Mary three!
