I started my Leatherbound collection with the Barnes and noble Leatherbound classics and have gotten two large shelves full of them but I’m now graduating to some of Easton presses books.
I really wish I could afford to support Castalia on this. I just can't afford 600 dollars a year in books. They look great. Looks like they did a great job. I read The Missionaries. It's a great book.
You can get Easton Press books from online used book sellers for $20-$30. And they are basically as new condition, because most people just put them on a shelf and leave them there. So you can build up a collection of beautiful leather bound Easton Press books very economically - really they are less than what a normal cloth bound hard cover would cost. I could not find any Castalia Library books on the used market. So for those, you would be paying $100-$150 per volume. So . . . it's an easy choice: Easton Press, from online used book sellers.
I just saw that when looking on eBay today. I bought my first leather book, the Rembrandt Holy Bible, for $295. I wanted to get some others they had also, but they're just too expensive. Then, I noticed people selling certain ones on eBay for like what you said. I didn't know if they were some kind of rip-off reproduction or something to be sold so cheap.
I have several Easton Press leather books, including 4 that are part of their limited edition runs, my favorite of which is my Don Quixote ... it's a beast of a book too,, center piece of my book shelf.
A little late but.. Do you know if Castalia is still making books? Their website is just a blank marker. The only links I can find are from vendors. The books seem to be available from them but not directly from the manufacturer.

I did the same, but am kinda regretting my B&N phase, those books are not raging well.

I pick up my Eastons used. I also really like the Gryphon Classics of liberty which are facsimiles of old editions of important books.

Those are some beautiful books.
End pages for Easton Press are silk. Also the marker attached to the book is also silk.
Was gonna say that. Moire. Pronounced Mu-war.
@4:14 opens first page, has a small mapgasim. Yeah, you love books. This video is helpful.
If a good book can double as a decorative element, why not? I still need to read Enders Game.
I picked it up for fifty cents at a used book store. Great book. The sequels, not so much.
what is your opinion on Fingerprint! Publishing ( particularly they hardcover deluxe editions) ?
You're definitely going to enjoy The Missionaries.
Wow those are pretty.
Which translation did Castalia Library use for Meditations of Marcus Aurelius?

I don’t know about the website but I get them every few months
volume a tad low for me, but good video.
I don't know why that happens sometimes.
Easton books are gold embossed. Are Castalia books Gold embossed?
Yes
It is sad how little you know about the leather bound books you are collecting.
Collecting leather books? How pretentious can you get? I thought you were a normal guy like me? 😂
What gave you that impression ;)
