This is what they do. The do this on purpose!!! Why? Because the average person will get fed up with being so hot and just pay someone to fix it. So they use the STALL tactic. So the company doesn't have to pay a DIME out. personally, I think people are foolish to get these warranties. They usually have clauses in them so they can pretty much deny claims. Plus if people figured out what they pay a month especially for car warranties, they can just bank that money and have it if they need it. They go a year with no problems, they just threw 12 months of payments out the window. The STATE Governments need to regulate these companies and have a provision that if they haven't sent someone out to do the repair in 3 days, you can go and hire someone and the company MUST reimburse the customer the FULL amount with 30 days of repair completion. Trust me, they will get people out before 3 days.

Freon never wears out! If you need more, it's because there is a leak. Vehicle A/C is different because it's compression seals with rubber O rings. The rubber dries out during winter so it leaks. Simply run your A/C once per month and the oil in the compressor will keep the rubber from drying out. You'll never need a recharge again. I was a tech for 30 years. ..... Pass it on!

The same thing happened to me years ago with Home Shield. They came out and had the audacity to tell me that there was nothing wrong with my ac, that it was the make and model of the ac that was not any good. They would only add some coolant. Mean while my home was 90 degrees.
Another time in the middle of winter my furnace went out, they came out assessed and did not have the part and it would take another 2 wks to get in. Ok, I waited and then received a call stating that they ordered the wrong part. So it took them an entire month to fix, what I later found out was a $10 part which only took 15 mins to replace.
And while waiting an entire month to get my furnace up and running again, they did give me a $30 certificate to purchase a space heater. A space heater would have been okay if I lived in a small studio, but I live in a 3 story townhouse. The only thing a cheap space heater will do is piss me off. They claim they “cover” items; but if something goes wrong, you still 1) have to pay a service fee for them to send someone else and 2) you have to pay the contractor for certain things such as Freon, because the warranty company will only pay a certain amount per pound and that amount is nowhere close to what Freon goes for 🤣 if they were honest they would state that they save you some $ on your repairs because when someone says “cover” something that typically means the costs.

Since then, I refuse to pay for a home warranty and had to threaten AHS to cease any contact with me. I’ll take a warranty during closing if as long as it’s not AHS or connected to them and if paid by the seller but will not renew, ever.

I just bought my own at Home Depot and will send in the receipt for reimbursement. I’m sure they’ll take just as long to send me a check.

Homeowners cancel all home warranty companies and put your money in an interest bearing account at your local bank or credit union for future home repairs. Have your a/c systems serviced on a regular basis. YOU ARE A HOMEOWNERS FOR CHRIST SAKE AND START ACTING LIKE ONE. You own that home. If an appliance breaks down, you are the responsible party to repair it, not the homeowner warranty company. Also, I personally would not have waited to get my a/c repaired home warranty or no home warranty. We need to take on our own responsibilities.

Recently retired plumber from central Illinois. I did repair work for a smaller shop, 25 or so employees, 32 years with same. My experience with home warranty companies started 25 years or so ago. Back then it was everything was denied ; sewer backup- denied, water heater old and limed up- denied, anything outside foundation of house-denied, broken pipe behind furnace, you guessed it ,denied.
I still had to go through the steps and call into the warranty company and have them deny the claim.
Fast forward to 5 more years. Hated these warranty service calls, but things had changed a lot, now it was everything was covered, even outside the foundation of the house. Only problem was getting approval for a price with home warranty, sometimes an hour on hold. And of course they would try to nickel and dime you on the cost.
It got to be a big head ache and I finally turned it over to the office personnel to call the home warranty company after I had made the inspection. By this point in time we were working with several different home warranty companies. For the most part, we would collect the deductible, usually 100 dollars or less. The secretary was getting 2 hours travel pay for all the out of town travel and our company estimator was playing hardball with estimates.
Come to find out, no other service provider would or could afford to wait 90 to 120 days for payment from home warranty. So the company I worked for pretty much had a monopoly on the surrounding cities.
And I might add we did a good job

Cinch home services is my home warranty. They sent out a company to fix my Heater and the guy found 400 extra dollars in charges he wanted to charge me. Well I didn't have 400 extra dollars to just hand over to him to clean my unit and replace a hose 400 just for those 2 things to me is outrageous so my warranty company said if I don't fix those other things they wouldn't pay to fix my heater that was covered under my warranty that I payed for. So I had no heat all winter. I got space heaters and we did just fine with them. Thankfully my air conditioner works.

I had American Home Shield and it was the same bullsh*t. It takes forever to actually get someone out to your home-and this was way before pandemic so that excuse is out the window-and then when they do come out they give you ridiculous reasons as to why whatever your problem is can't be fixed. It was the last straw for me when my AC went out in July-I also love in Georgia. They said it was going to take 1-2 weeks to get someone out to my house. I called someone on my own. They came out the same day I called. The repair cost me $175.00. When I called AHS and asked if I could get reimbursed they refused because I didn't use one of their vendors. I terminated my contract with them. This home is my first and before actually trying to use this service I always wondered why everyone didn't have a home warranty company like this. Now, I know! They're fine when it comes to taking your money but when it comes to providing service they fall way WAY short. Not everyone's story ends as well as this woman's did.

I literally had to climb their corporate tree for them to do anything with the warranty. Thank God I did, I got 8k worth of repairs for only 500 bucks. If you want a warranty to work, you have to harass them. Blow up their phones, escalate the situation, leave bad reviews. Get the media involved if you have to. Extended warranties aren't impossible, it just depends on how threatening you can be to a specific company if they're unwilling to stand behind their product.

Home Warranty companies do not want to pay tradespeople, they make it very difficult. I can't blame any company for not wanting to deal with them.
If they can't deny your claim to keep your money, they approve it and then attempt to deny it to the tradesperson.
I have done a lot of work for people where the home warranty company said they'd pay, and I had to fight them tooth and nail to get it.

I’ve been in the hvac field for 20+ years, my opinion, never get a home warranty. They have a set amount they pay the contractor. It is usually very low. The contractor they get is usually is usually not close by & probably not the best & needs work. Best thing for your units is maintenance. Check and/or change filters every 30 days. Buy the cheap thin air filters. Thick or pleated filters not good. Your unit needs to breath. Once a year checkup on heat pumps. Oil or gas furnace with a/c twice a year. They are like a car & needs to be maintained.

My husband's parents bought a home last summer and bought a home warranty through 211 (or Two-Eleven?) Had never heard of this company before. But they took several weeks to get their stove repaired this spring. In the meantime, the A/C went out, too, and the warranty still hasn't taken care of it OVER TWO MONTHS LATER!!! And with my mother-in-law being a senior on oxygen 24/7, she cannot breathe in this hot, humid climate in Arkansas! She is stuck in her bedroom 24/7 now with a window unit going. The warranty company has been warned that if they don't schedule the A/C replacement (or at least repair) or a total refund of the warranty BY TOMORROW, they are going to court. And they will lose.

I had a Home Warranty with One of the Large Companies mentioned on this video and I kept up payments for 10yrs. My Central Air started making banging noises so loud it was waking me and my Condo Neighbors so I called for a Claim. They sent a guy out who was very well trained (in how to deny coverage). He said as long as my A/C was putting out cold air it didn't matter if was tearing itself apart and keeping everyone awake. I protested but then he sealed his decision, he checked the interior coils and found a small bit of mold. He said that even 1 spore of mold is grounds for Dening the claim, never mind the current problem. What A/C doesn't have 1 spore of mold? I faithfully paid them for 10yrs and got NOTHING! DO NOT EVER BUY A HOME WARRANTY! They have clauses throughout the policy that give them the right to deny almost any problem, and they will. The Mold clause they used was not even under the Air Conditioner" section.

It's funny that this popped up in my feed today. I called my appliance warranty company this morning because my outdoor AC unit stopped working. My appliance warranty is through my electric company, so I feel like they're more legit. They told me the AC repairman will be out tomorrow morning to see me. I wouldn't tolerate having to wait for the heat index to reach deadly temperatures for them to act. That's just crazy. She needs to cancel her monthly payments and find a better company.

I’ve only had to rely on them on two occasions, but the last one took several calls and 3 visits before the repairman told me its been his experience that the warranty company I was with at the time RARELY ever replaced defective appliances, at least he had never seen them do it. I had to lend him mines he was up there for a few minutes and came down quickly guess what he said ? He told us he isn't certified to repair our particular brand of hvac !
    I was furious 😠 😡..
3 weeks later I kept calling them and the answer given to us was get your own tech pay out of pocket and if we approve it we will reimburse you ..
I sent them the quote for the repair ,didn't hear from them at all so I approved the work . Funny part is the service company told us the same thing we don't work with warranty companies..
Friday afternoon came by and all of a sudden the insurance sent a service tech didn't even bother to call us for a heads up .. I had to cancel the work order I was going to pay my self ! And finally these guys fixed our A/C it's been in the hundreds here thank God it's working only took close to 2 months...

They've had no problem withdrawing the monthly plan fee from my account. the ESL customer service representative can't communicate an unscripted conversation. After my second call of being told they were seeking someone to repair my a/c, they had the balls to withdraw a $100 service call fee. I live in a rural area. It's not complicated. There are 4 HVAC firms. Giving them 1 more opportunity with a phone call. If still no action, I'm filing a police report for fraud & theft, contacting a civil attorney as I've now been to the hospital for dehydration & heat exhaustion, as well as contacting every investigative news team in Colorado Springs and denver
