80s 90s where real music created ❤
70s clears

true,,,from 60s to early 90s 👍
how is it possible to feel nostalgic for a time period and culture i never experienced?
It is pretty weird isn't it? In kind of a good way.
parallel lives exist my friend. you are not just this one body; though people call parallel lives as "past lives" more often. look into reincarnation since you already feel the way you do about being nostalgic for a time/culture you never experienced! :D you will be surprised that you may have/are already experienced/experiencing that time, just on another frequency. namaste.
@@LawOfOne_Elris you could not have been more wrong, the reason why we feel this way towards certain songs is due to us humans having quite the amazing capacity to feel empathy/ sympathy for things that we have not experienced, we do this through imagining scenarios within our heads, we are able to imagine these false memories and align them with our own experiences, this creates a warm, almost nostalgic feeling which perplexes many, many people
Because you see their optimism and want to share it.
Lets not misconstrued the word nostalgia. What you are experiencing is a feeling caused by a certain vibe due to the imagery presented in the video that was common within the media during the time period known as the 1980s. Light jazz, or as the Japanese refer to as "new music" (not city pop), smiling faces and an over-al upbeat attitude. That's what's causing a general warm feeling, perhaps a longing, to a simpler time. That which you may not have experienced. Especially in recent years, where everything seems so polarized. To answer your question "how is it possible to feel nostalgic for a time period and culture I never experienced?" No, its not possible, a warm and fuzzy feeling yes, but misplaced.
There's just something so Nostalgic about Japan in the 1980s..
I can't explain it..

Why does Japanese music have to be so good???🧎♀️
Because they can 🇯🇵🎌🗾
to match everything else they do🥲⛩
they love progression chord so much you can hear from their music everywhere
Because you're hearing all the highlights and none of the bad or mediocre stuff that faded into obscurity.
It was the 80's, Japan was so rich that it was said can buy the whole New York at once, so they must have the greatest resources, people and plenty of time to develop their culture in multiple aspects. I'll also agree with the comment above, bad musics simply won't survive for 40 years.

I love it. Never thought CityPop would shine this bright across the world, but here we are.
I graduated from high school in 1986 and was a huge fan of bands like Journey and Styx. I REALLY wish I had heard this amazing music from Japan back then. It is so happy and full of joy, I think my younger self would have really loved it back then. It is so amazing to discover this music on UA-cam many years later! The artists were so very talented. Greetings from Phoenix, Arizona US ❤
me too,i wish i could know these songs when i was a middle school student. when it was 2011
The scene at "Pacific Islands Club" takes place in Guam where I grew up. As a kid, I'd take the same path they did at 1:03 to the PIC waterpark, 2 decades after this was filmed. Crazy mix of nostalgia
Hafa adai. Looks like we found this video about the same time. I was about to make the same comment as you. I was enjoying the music then saw that familiar PIC entrance without the giant building behind it and man did that feel weird.
Hafa adai! That's a funny coincidence. I grew up in Tamuning, which village are you from? I also noticed in the vid you can see the marriot that's been shut down for well over a decade, if not more. Also the balcony of Skylight, lol. @redletter8547
Cool thanks for sharing 😊
The best kind of music the world ever created
Anri is the main character of City Pop. The hits never stopped.

Hi
Genial canción,,, el ritmo me encanta
Ah yes, my non-existent memories in japan
why is this so true!!!
My dream of my Summer in Japan
These "false memories" are due to the influence Japan had on the world in the '80s. The West civilization was flooded with Japanese appliances, japanese cars, and japanese children's shows, so if you grew up in the '80s or '90s, you feel that "familiarity" with Japanese things because we technically grew up under their influence. 😍
@@Notinerd really? I was from 2000 yet somehow remember feeling in 80s
@@Notinerd not only that, for some reason latin america also had a lot japanese shows translated and even movies and dramas.

The name of the movie is: Idol o Sagase according to the filmography for the actress/singer in this video, momoko kikuchi. Can’t find the movie online 😢

I'm young enough and I think that Pop is despasita, I have no idea that pop can be so charming: Japanese citypop, pop from 1950's, Europop from 1970's.
Underrated song
@Marvak_
It's not that their music was far away.
It is just that their music was not known because it was not distributed in the Western market or the global market because Western labels did not recognize it as a product for the global market and did not sign a sales contract.
On the contrary, the music of many Western musicians was released and distributed in her country, Japan, in real time, almost at the same time as it was released in Europe and the United States. This type of music existed at the same time, just because the distribution was in one direction.
This barrier was broken not by a change in label policy, but by the birth of the Internet, which transcended the barriers of national borders and label agendas, and music that had existed in various parts of the world began to be distributed worldwide on a personal level, and became known to many people around the world.
I listen to it everyday❤❤❤❤
Love city pop ❤️
I LOVE ANRI SONGS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Momoko Kikuchi and Masanori Ikeda
Love this and also Kikuchi Momoko~~!!
The golden time for Japan, the 80's. Unfortunately Japan is not like this anymore.
Didn't know John Cho featured in a Japanese MV before he moved to the US lol
The similarity between japan and korea in 80s is very interesting .There must be so many 80s korean pop culture I haven't known🤔.
Main actor of this movie is Masanori Ikeda. He is the singer of Night of summer side ,op theme of Kimagure orange road.
Big love from indonesia ❤️❤️❤️

This song very well good
What makes 80's J-pop so special to Westerners is just how differently influenced it is. Western composers & artists draw upon influence from older western music & European music, Japan only had the east for influence. Along with the foreign tongue, Japan's music sounds like it came from another world and it stimulates the brain way differently than western or European music.
what do you mean by saying "Japan only had the east for influence"? pop music itself is Western...
@@sunzi7466 If you know the history of Japan, it was largely isolated from the rest of the world up until the 19th & 20th centuries, so all of it's classical composers didn't get to listen to guys like Beethoven or Bach or any of those names for influence, and that's why their music sounds so different.
@@PhilMante this is true, however I can't see how classical Japanese music tradition would have had on recent J-Pop/City Pop music other than general cultural aspects like various kinds of aesthetics.
But this is too generalistic...
@@PhilMante also no hate to you but im pretty sure city pop along with many other music genres is inspired by black musicians from the 70s and 80s!
@@PhilMante actually america was stationed in and around japan since ww2, city pop is japan meets west

In this period.. Japan is the One and Only Asian country that very developed in all aspect.. That's why they can produce a good music..
