The second video of the Time Attack series puts head-to-head Moza R5 and Moza R9. The rules of this Time Attack are simple. Each steering wheel has a 10-minute time on two famous tracks from Assetto Corsa Competizione, namely the Monza track and the Laguna Seca track. We will see who sets the fastest lap time but also who has the most consistent time over the 10 minutes on each circuit. .

I really don’t get why sim racing titles allow the use of this view.
The only view allowed should be the cockpit view, anything else should be banned in competitive racing / time trial.

It all depends on your budget. The R5 is amazing, but at the end of the day, even with his flaws, the R9 is much better, so I would go with the R9.
@JulianNDL is there any benefit besides more torque in the R9? If I know that I won't be using more than 5nm, is there any reason I should consider the R9?
@AdrenaLukeYT Yes, FFB is much better, more detailed, and more precise. Having a bigger and stronger motor, it has faster response time and can deliver better FFB in terms of details.

@MrMaldezzar Hey man. Like i replied to you on another comment, I really don't know which one out of the two I would choose. I honestly don't know.
I know why I would choose Fanatec, and that is for reliability, their experience in developing and making sim racing products. I would choose Fanatec because the market for used steering wheels is huge, even custom ones.
Then, I would choose the R9 because it is amazing. It impresses me every time I turn it on and play on it. It has great torque, way more than Fanatec, and it offers richer FFB details.
I feel like the build quality of Moza is a little bit under Fanatec. For example, on my CS V2 steering wheel, I managed to break a button while driving in WRC. I didn't do anything wrong or special. Well, I never experienced anything like this with any of my Fanatec wheels.
This is an interesting result with the R5 faster. Kind of indicates why lots of E-Sports racers turn their FFB down. Immersion vs Speed ? 🤔
Funny enough, this was the fourth time doing the VS between them because I had some technical difficulties with both my cameras and lost the previous recording. Every time, I was able to get the fastest lap time with the R5, but I had better consistency with the R9.
Probably, because I've heard of some many people winning championships with G29 or T300, beating other guys with high-end DD wheels.
But for me, speed is not that important or being the fastest, but I want to get the best feeling out from these steering wheels.

And what about details ? Do you have better detail in track with R9 or only stronger FFB ? In Fanatec 5nm and 8 nm with boost kit have a big difference for track details .
Having a bigger and more powerful motor, the R9 offers a more detailed, richer FFB than the R5.

@VeisenbergVR It was not meant, or I did not intend to do it as a clickbait. This video was supposed to be part of a video series about a bunch of wheelbases, with my conclusion in the last part of the series. Unfortunately, I had to take a break from doing videos due to some personal reasons, much longer than I expected.
But, still, this was not my first video about the problems that the R9 has, hence the title of the video.
Yes, at the end of the day, the R9 is a better wheelbase than the R5, leaving aside its problems.
But in my opinion, the R5 is a better wheelbase in terms of price/performance, offering, again from my experience, better reliability than the R9.
@@JulianNDLboth have same 15bit encoder so detail is exactly same, only difference can be in stronger wheelbase u feel the small data better.
The R9 is more compatible with rims isn't it ?
No. Both the R5 and the R9 have the same QR system. All Moza steering wheels are compatible with both of them. Yes, some of them are really heavy and put the R5 to some stress and the FFB details are less, due to the size and weight, but they’re still compatible.

No. Having a bigger and more powerful motor, the R9 can also deliver faster response time and better FFB details, even set at 5nm, as the R5.

Thank you, Kevin. Yes, DD wheels are so much better. They don't make you faster, but it's all about the feeling, power, and the details they offer.

I asked around a bit about the overheating problem 9 and got something like this:
since the release and until recently, the base has not really warmed up. Then a new driver update came out, much more radical than before. It seems like the ffb really got better, BUT because of its strengthening, the base began to warm up. Instead of solving problems, Moza released... a new database, 12. How, why and why? Why is there no new driver for 9? I have no idea, but the reality so far looks something like this. To fully test the theory, you need to download drivers for 9 semiannual (one-year-old?) prescription and compare ffb and overheating again. If someone cares that much. I personally don't want to take the moza anymore.
I also think that is true, because I know for sure that was the same with the R5. When I first bought the R5 it was ok, but somehow weak and after owning it for a few weeks, it got an updated and after the update it became so powerful, almost close to the GT DD Pro. Actually, jimbonater, a subscriber of the channel, measured the output torque of the R5, and it was around 6.5 nm. But, at least for me, the R5 didn't overheat.
I actually wrote on the Community tab about the overheating of the R9. Another subscriber of the channel had overheating problems with his R9 base and contacted Moza, and, apparently, Moza didn't know about overheating problems. Also, the same user created a program that reads the temp of the base because the base saves its temp in a local file.
I also follow Moza on facebook, and I noticed that a lot of people started writing comments on their posts about the overheating issues of the R9.
I honestly tried to stay away from the overheating problem and not to talk about it anymore, because talking about it brought so much hate on my channel and also consumed me a lot, trying to explain everyone that I didn't talked and showed this problem to attack Moza, or because I hate their products.

I think r9 will be stronger than r5 but the price is too high, I don't have much time and I'm not a professional racer, So is r5 a reasonable choice?
I thank you! Well it all depends on what you are planning to play. If you are a casual gamer and play random racing games, the R5 is more than enough. If you are planning getting into simracing then the R9 is a better choice.

Just ordered the R12 with the CS V2 and the Moza load Cell pedals and the shifter as well. Just built the Next Level Racing GTTrack as well. Upgrading from a Playseat Evolution and T500rs - TH8A that I have had for a couple of years now. Can't wait to get the new parts and move further into sim racing goodness.
