Spending your summer in rehab is very brat
agreed
Yes
100%
Exactly yes
EXACTLYYY LOLL
"I spent my summer in rehab so I did not have a brat summer"
Respectfully, that threw me to the floor😭😂
Same, ngl 😂
Girl interrupted summer
I spent many summers like that lol luckily now I spend them with my kids though
Anti brat summer
I, too, had a 🫠 2024 and didn’t have the brat summer I hoped for. I did paint my toenails lime green once, though, so I can at least cling to that memory 💚
"I'm big on planning out my new year and then having it all fall apart a month later." Girl I did not come here to be called out like that! 🤣
I think it’s crazy how much your personal social media feed can impact what you see as a pop culture moment of the year. For me personally I’ve vaguely heard the term “brat summer” but had no idea what it was referring too and never heard any of the music (I had to look it up just now, not my cup of tea but I’m glad people were enjoying themselves). On the other hand, Chappell Roan absolutely dominated my feed for ages and I saw so many reels of the manliest of men belting out Pink Pony Club (and the plankton version) that I don’t even picture her singing the song anymore it’s always like a lumberjack. Love that whole album. That felt like way more of a pop culture moment for me just because it was inescapable on my feed.
lol I love the Plankton Pink Pony Club
No idea who any of the people are 😂 other than JLo and Beyonce
I still haven’t heard all the songs of the brat album, but in real life - not my social media - brat was everyone. It really transcended the internet and everyday people who aren’t chronically online even knew about brat and the neon green
I’m a swiftie. And I agree about TTPD. She won some award for song of the summer for Fortnight a few months ago … over Espresso. I was like there’s absolutely no way this should have happened. Fortnight was not a bigger song than freaking Espresso.
Agreed
THIS! i love taylor but fortnight being nominated for a grammy is insane 😭
@@BethThereseReacts I watched a video once explaining a reasoning for why Taylor seems to always be nominated/ win Grammys people don’t seem to think she would win. Grammy voters are people in the industry - like label heads and such. Their reasoning was that the pop votes get split between all the labels voting for their main pop act, and then Taylor ends up winning/ getting nominated a lot bc the country voters are more likely to vote for her in a pop award than other pop stars due to her past in country music. This honestly makes a LOT of sense. Taylor often wins bc she gets the pop AND country votes while other acts only get pop votes. I hope that makes sense but it’s honestly a really good explanation as to why she always wins things people don’t think she deserves.
I agree completely!!!!! I adore Taylor and Sabrina but Sabrina should have gotten song of the summer
@@kianna270 thank youu very helpful!! x
I’m gonna be so sad when glowmas ends. I’ve really enjoyed watching these videos before bed every night
I mean, you could repeat it for the next 11 months until next glowmas! (Fingers crossed for next glowmas lol)
"I think I'm too old" is an interesting take on brat since it's primarily about the "crisis" women in their late 20s and early 30s go through (wanting to put a career on hold for a child, depression having you doubt yourself to the point you go mute, comparing yourself to other women, generational trauma and whether or not you want to be mad about it or forgive them) so that's an interesting way to view it. That said, I think sonic wise it might just not be your thing :)
Yes!! That’s why I love it so much. I feel like ppl forget Charli is in her early 30s and wrote it from that experience. I saw many people say it’s perfect for those in their early 20s and while ppl my age (or any age) can relate to it, I do think it fits for ppl in charli’s age group. I think it’s nice to see how sometimes even when you’re 30 and supposed to be a full adult, you can continue to feel these emotions of insecurities and as you said “crisis”.
@@anonloki3 Totally agree! It's definitely a party album when it wants to be (b2b, club classics, 365) but, to me, that's eclipsed by how well she's captured the reality of being a woman in the modern age.
Especially with tracks like Sympathy is a knife, girl so confusing, and I think about it all the time, the latter especially being a song I don't think most people in their early 20s relate to.
The remix album does a great job of highlighting it too!
Thank youuuu
I agree and I love brat personally, but I get what she means bc hyperpop didn't really happen until after the time we were forming our core music taste if that makes sense. For context I'm almost 30 but my brother that's 8 years younger than me got me into 100 gecs when they blew up so I was already primed for the style but idk if I would have gotten there on my own lol
@@stuffroom979 Well, I mean, I'm 28 and I've been listening to Charli since my late teens so I think it's all just more subjective lmao
thick braids trick: braid tight up until the halfway point and then put the elastic on the bottom of the hair, shake it out and pull apart until you have thick lovely braids
Thank you for not gatekeeping.😅
Now I need to grow my hair again to do this! Haha ty!
Ilysm!!
Just tried it, I don’t think I got it quite right the first time but it absolutely helped
Will this work with a French braid too?
Raygun’s post-Olympics legacy in Australia has been wild. She’s getting invited to loads of events, performed at the ARIAs (aus music awards), she announced a retirement from breakdancing and then said that wasn’t actually the case and everyone had misunderstood, and she just cease and desisted a Raygun parody musical in Sydney on its opening trial performance. Which she was invited to!! And the creator said Raygun is the hero of the musical!
She’s doing this bizarre thing of joining in on the meme but calling out everyone else for the meme being cruel?
Isn't that pretty much what she's been doing since the beginning? Like right from the start of becoming a meme it's seemed like she wants the attention, but refuses to admit there was anything silly/funny about her performance. It's like she wants to "cash in" on the fame (if you can call it that), without acknowledging the reason for it. Unfortunately for her, you can't really join in on the meme or benefit from it, without leaning into it or at least admitting there's some truth to it. You can't simultaneously think you deserve the attention but also disagree with the reason for it 😭
I waited thinking you would speak of Sabrina Carpenter! I love her and I really think 2024 was a big year for her! Every song was a bop and the tour is sold out, it’s really been a big year for women in the music industry.
Oh my God. This entire time, I kept seeing Sabrina Carpenter's name all over the place, and I legitimately thought it was that one Sabrina witch tv show. I was like, "damn, that reboot is really popular!" I literally did not realize she was a musician until reading your comment just now. Suddenly my social media feed makes more sense 😭
Surprised she didn’t talk about Chappell Roan at all.
As a mom who was finally starting to feel like myself about 18 months postpartum, I had a very brat summer (for me at least). Went to pride, concerts, clubbing again. Felt very me again and very very brat lol. Also driving in a road trip, that album kept me awake and alive from 2-6 AM while everyone else slept lol
Im a 24 year old queer drag queen. I can enjoy brat in the club, but I would never put on any of it in my own home. I’m very into Hozier who makes hyper literary lyrics, charli is the opposite of that, but I love the hot girl vibe, love the aesthetic, but not in love with the lyrics, and hate the glamorization of drug use.
thank you for saying the drug use thing - i hate it too.
absolutely !!! I agree 100% ♡ like sorry charli I will not be "bumpin that" 😭
@@heatheretherealI thought she meant bumping like the music and thought she was going to the bathroom too "have a little tea, have a bit of wine," I just thought it was camp.
Trixie and Brittany would be OBSESSED with you 😭😊
@@reporterin-ha942 That is what she means! In 360 it's music, but in 365 she turns it on its head and it means coke lmao
GIRL every video topic is better than the last

hey besties, quick online safety PSA for everybody: please, please, please make sure the backgrounds in photos and videos you post don't show anything that could identify your location! love the view out the window but we all need to be vigilant on the internet about sharing this stuff, even seemingly insignificant things can be traced back to you so people can find out where you are. alrighty that's it, keep on keeping on xx
I was thinking the same !!! I hope she will see your comment 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
Yh Stephanie Harlowe got doxxed fee years ago, had to sell her house and move.
the short n sweet tour deserves to be on this list!!!!! everyone was waiting to see the new juno positions and my girl sabrina killed it!
It doesn’t surprise me to hear people say they don’t like Brat, not because I’m a pretentious music snob, but because I love experimental music and Charli XCX’s music is very much that.
I was hiding behind the sofa when Hannah was saying the mean things about Brat…. I think the deluxe+remix album is AOTY by a wide margin. And I love GNX but nah, BRAT
She makes club music not experimental 💀
Yeah it’s very clubby and if your not into the vibe musically its gonna sound like a bunch of noises
@@danielgalvan394brat is experimental club music, but almost all of her previous catalog is experimental pop. she has made music before brat lol
Why do people always act like Charli is some musical groundbreaking phenomenon? She just makes club pop music and that’s it, and that’s fine. People act like she’s Sophie or Björk, my god
I never leave comments on UA-cam, but just felt called to say... Thank you for all of your Glowmas videos and sharing your amazing energy with us viewers! It has been so great to have your videos to look forward to watching ❤ Sending you all the best vibes
Just here to remind people that modern country music WOULD NOT exist with out wonderful black musicians.
girl charli is 32 ur not too old!! Lollll hyper pop can just be a lot
That’s like the best way to put it lol so true
Hannah, you have brought me comfort all month as I wind down for bed. It's SO good to see you here 😊💕
I put away all my laundry while you yapped my ear off. Thanks for keeping me company like a sister friend 🥰
Your puppy is so sweet and perfect! The smoosh face! How are there not more comments about this?!?
the tiktoker bela was like "I got sober and stopped liking charli's music" and I was like hmmm fair point! I loved it from the first single that came out. if you like lyrics though, I think you'll love the "I think about it all the time" remix with bon iver. as an almost 30 year old lady, it really hit me in a way I was not expecting
I don’t drink alcohol and I love brat and Charli so maybe yall just have bad tastes
@@audreynelson3997 ah yes because if someone doesn’t agree with u that means they have bad taste…
That’s super interesting cuz I actually got into charlixcx and other experimental/club/hyperpop stuff RIGHT when I got sober and was going through withdrawal. It’s different for everyone, for me it pulled my ass out of hardship but I can see how for others it would do the opposite.
I'm 6 years sober club kid at heart and I liked quite a few songs from brat and just respect the vibe in general
This video just reminds me how much i missed hannah’s perspective but also just this community , your channel has always been one of my fav places to discuss pop culture bc of u and everyone else here💗 love all the content we’ve been getting fr
All day I was thinking “I just need to make it until Hannah’s video tonight” So happy to be seeing you so often and hope you are enjoying it!!
Sympathy is a Knife is sooooo goooooooood the Brat album goes perfectly with Julia Fox’s autobiography
Hey Smokey! I think you’ll get a kick out of this, on the note of the olympics including breaking. Each host country is required to include a certain amount of ‘core’ sports, but also get to choose 8 (I think) special events! Breaking was one of those special inclusions!!!
I adore the video, I admire the way you carry yourself as an intelligent and professional person. I love you and wish you all the best!!!!❤❤❤
it makes me so happy to see your content hannah, thanks for all the great videos this glowmas!!! 💜💜
I love that you talked about the differences in cultural impact of Tortured Poets Dept. Vs Brat, and how even though the former did bigger numbers, the latter transcended the album itself. I am a huge Charli fan and I like Taylor Swift too... seeing people try to deny Brat's success because they didn't personally understand/enjoy the album was so confusing to me. There was also so much drama between the two fandoms on twitter and it was crazy to me because both are incredible artists, and even though they're both under the pop umbrella, their music is sooo different. Rant over, lol, this is a great video.
Yes, I’ve never heard a single song from TTPD but even I knew about the drama between Charli’s fans and her fans.
Yeah, the drama was *WILD* this year, ngl. It's even weirder bc Charli & Taylor are friends
@@justjoannakwait till you find out who 'sympathy is a knife' is about 😅
take this with a grain of salt since im not a taylor fan at all, i just really get annoyed with old, formerly popular artists getting their flowers for the millionth time. this year was a such a big year for pop. pop was and will always be huge but to have viral songs that you could not escape the way espresso, chappel and the entire brat album did was unheard of since just about 2020. taylor had songs this popular years ago. hell, up to a decade ago. why are we still giving her these crazy awards?! we should be leaving space for new artists as well, leaving space for new people rather than holding these spaces for old news. she still has good music im sure, it cant be totally ass because its so popular, but she shouldn’t be winning things and gaining popularity from music that she rerecorded from literally a decade+ ago. cheers to some new pop. also im not even biased, i dont even like chappel or sabrina, i just think they deserve a lot for their hits too.
I also have a super unpopular swiftie opinion and it’s similar to yours- I think we are over-valuing the cultural impact of tortured poets because of the eras tour. We already gave midnights the flowers for the eras tour. The most iconic things about the eras tour are more heavily connected to midnights than ttpd. Girl the way my own friends were tearing me up for saying ttpd doesn’t have the same cultural impact that fearless, 1989, folklore and midnights did (associating the eras tour to the midnights era)
I would lovelovelove a video by you on taylor swift!! I definitely used to be a huuuuuge swiftie but ever since she dated matty healy I've honestly been very put off from her, which is sad bcos she has such great music. plus, I also just felt like ttpd was trying too hard to be poetic, whereas folklore and evermore just WERE. and there was the drama with her releasing all the different variants and stuff, etc etc. my view of her these days is definitely a lot more cynical than it used to be and I feel like these days she is putting out product, not art. would love to hear your thoughts, especially since you are a current swiftie!
I have the same trouble with TS - I agree with the way you described it! it feels like she's putting out product. like she's not trying. folklore and evermore were art - what she's up to these days... 🫤
as a swiftie I agree with your take. I've loved Taylor since I was 15 and probably always will, but I can't deny all the same things you mentioned. it's mind boggling to me she has all the money in the world yet still does endless vinyl variations and remixes...it's always rubbed me the wrong way when rich celebs still try to get richer!
@@lilies-and-lilies seriously! it's so sad to see her prioritize profit to the detriment of her art :'(
@@BethThereseReacts right! like if anyone has the resources to push the boundaries of the music industry and to use her platform for an unspeakable amount of good it's taylor
Right I’ve never been a swiftie but I liked her music growing up I just think it’s weird to publicly date a disgusting man who said terrible things about women before you started dating after basing your platform on feminism for so long
J-Lo's Documentary was so WILD and I felt bad for Ben cause the whole documentary he looks so done with the process. I also don't really get the good vibes from him, but the stuff she showed that were personal to their relationship (mainly his love letters) to everyone made me feel bad for him.
Hannah I am so with you on the Brat album. I tried so damn hard to love that album but I just couldn't do it. And I love instrumental heavy, beat heavy albums!! I was born into the EDM/Dubstep era. So music that can truly just be called "sounds" is usually right up my alley. It was a moment, not our moment but like I loved that moment for everyone else.
Girl I'm 19 and I didn't get the hype with Brat either. A bunch of people are claiming its Charli's best work or her magnum opus, but her album from 2020 was far more interesting and catchier altogether. I love that people love it tho, I'm never a hater on what people enjoy listening to.
i feel the same lol people can love what they love ofc, but i don’t understand the worship of it tbh. 🥴
how i'm feeling now stans rise up
The thing about the olympics is - they come with so much history and heartbreak, people spending their whole young lives working for their moment, a story that can define the rest of their life. I personally like to keep it elevated and not turned into a joke. There's not much in life anymore that deserves a consistent level of respect, but I think we should try to keep the Olympics at that level.
I’m a distant Taylor fan (haven’t been too into her since reputation) and I truly did not hear one song from TTPD organically
Regarding thick braids: you have to have some hair to pull, so you don’t braid it all the way down. It’s also good to remember that you want to keep a “core” of the original braid in, so you don’t pull in the whole part of the section of hair, but like 80% of it. This helps keep the integrity of the braid, while still making it more voluminous.
as a person living in europe, this year was indeed the eras tour year!! but i would also say, there were SO many americans at the european dates (i might go as far to say that 20% and higher were americans), so im not sure how much i agree with your take.
Hi Hannah!! This is random, but I felt compelled to share. This is the first video of yours I’ve watched in a while. I was big into the beauty community years ago before the pandemic and a little bit during, but lost interest in the beauty world after that. You were truly my comfort UA-camr through everything and all the beauty community drama (iykyk). I always loved your makeup and your commentary videos, and I’m so glad you popped up in my feed again. Even though I’m not into beauty much anymore, I have to catch up on your content! Btw I love your pop culture videos and excited to watch you again! Started watching you in 2018 and glad to be back! ❤❤❤
PS: I don’t get Brat either 😂
I never comment but EVERY video gets better and better omg!! Love this channel and Glowmas!
For thick braids, braid moderately tightly, then hold onto the bottom with one hand instead of using an elastic. Then go up one side of the braid and pull each little chunk (idk what else to call it) outwards with your other hand, then do the same on the other side of the braid until you like how it looks. You can pull it really far out to make it look super fluffy! Then at the very end, use an elastic. Waiting until the end makes sure that your hair has room to pull and won’t just snap back to how it looked before you pulled it.
Totally agree with the albums! Brat and Cowboy Carter: iconic. TTPD? It made the news, not the year
Yes!
Here’s my issue with Raygun. I’m not Australian, but as Black American (especially one born and raised in NYC), breakdancing is not just a benign random style of dance like tap vs ballet. Its roots are deeply cultural and engrained within a specific time and place within our zeitgeist. The fact that breakdancing has ballooned into a recognized sport with international competitions is incredible. I’m not here to gatekeep, theres a very pervasive popularity, for example, of Black culture in Japan that is (GENERALLY) treated with a lot of irreverence and respect, which is why it was entirely unsurprising to me a Japanese woman was able to clinch the gold. But there’s something icky and I’ll be honest- offensive about a grown white woman flubbing about on the largest and most important stage and display of skill you can possibly reach in the world to make a mockery of a sport in which to be honest- she’s a guest in. I myself at one point in my life was an Olympic hopeful, and although I don’t fence anymore, I personally either know or have met all of the ladies on the Women’s Foil podium. The olympics is a big fucking deal and Raygun not only mocked the Olympic that people literally train years and years and break their backs scrounging up money to go… not to mention breakdancing originated in the streets and I can promise you certain breakdancers that were qualified to go probably couldn’t solely for financial reasons. PLUS breakdancing was added by the Paris Olympic committee, so you’re likely not going to see it again going forward. She took up someone’s spot for nothing just to overshadow the talent and incredible feats of her fellow competitors with her bullshit. It’s not iconic in my opinion, it’s sad and infuriating. If you’re going to be a white woman performing a historically culturally black dance style like be serious for two seconds in your entire life or drop out 🤷🏽
Speaking of white women, as a non Taylor Swift fan, I agree that I think the album was likely big with her fans but probably not outside of swiftie circles.
I think people maybe got a little caught up in the showiness and acrobatics of a lot of the dancers. Some old-school breakers said her technique was pretty good and that a lot of breaking did look absurd and a little silly, and not necessarily as focused on getting air as modern breakdancing. Without seeing the other competitors from Australia it’s hard to know whether she was the best they had to offer, but I’d say the worst part was that it seems like she had a connection with the Australian Olympic decision makers.
She genuinely cares about the art though. She wrote a whole thesis about it.
Also like: tap is not “random.”Tap has its origins in African dance forms as well as Irish, specifically dancing enslaved people did to express themselves after their instruments were confiscated. That’s pretty fucking specific.
I consider myself a HUGE Beyoncé fan. I did not love Cowboy Carter but just the existence of it makes me feel joy.
Keep rocking it Hannah and I’ll put you as one of my 2025 trends🎀🎀
i’m definitely not the first person to say this but TTPD was probably more of a bigger thing for people who are incredibly tuned in to taylor swift’s universe. even if you weren’t a big fan of charli xcx, there were definitely people who still listened to and enjoyed the brat album. and that’s absolutely no shade to taylor or her fans, just something i’ve observed.
My cultural phenomenon for 2024 is the band Spiritbox and the artist Poppy being nominated for Grammys in the metal category. But it won't get to be a collective thing because they aren't even going to air that part of the event. Women in rock have such a hard time getting the attention they deserve, and two of them had a chance to get a Grammy for the first time ever, and no one is gonna see it. It's disgusting.
Yay a video. I've been loving the all uploads
As a women’s rugby player, I so appreciate your hype for Ilona!!
Personally I didn't care for BRAT or Tortured Poet's Department. There was maybe a couple songs I liked from both of them but that's really it.
The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess was basically on repeat for me though. Definitely one of the more unique pop albums I've heard in awhile, in the best way possible.
I agree about TTPD. It is not for popular culture. It was for her and for the fans- not the people flocking to the eras tour to make a tik tok.
i’ve been going through a lot lately these posts have really been helping me get through my days
Hope you have better days ahead ❤️❤️
i actually agree that TTPD wasnt like a 2024 pop culture moment, I think it was big when it was big and taylors floor of popularity is so high that its almot definitely the best selling album of the year and was literally the most streamed album of the year, but like...she didnt really seem to want to make it the album of the year? It only got one proper music video and two real singles, outside of the digital and physical alternates she didnt do a ton of promo or even promo stunts, she didnt discuss it a ton, she really just seemed to want to be able to integrate it into the eras tour (which she was so right to do, i think it clicks in beautifully and really adds to eras thematically even if she had to cut a lot of my fav live moments to fit it in). Its really an odd release on her part because its so closely tied to the tour she was on when she was writing it. The release buildup and day of was huge but after that she sort of just announced digital alternates every couple of weeks and left it at that, very odd rollout for her but also the first time shes ever released an album mid tour so it was strange circumstances.
Yay just got off work and ready to listen to Hannah while I clean
omg me rn
Thank you for creating a safe space to say that I also did not care for the Brat album 😂 I listened the day it came out and thought it was kinda bad but then like a few days later it was EVERYWHERE and I was deeply confused. I am just not the target demographic I fear
I’m almost 30 and I listened when it dropped and immediately thought it belonged in 2012 😅
My people ! I was so scared to admit this 😂 Love, love, love Charli but this was a no from me 😭
Agreed. It’s just not as good to me as people are saying.the depth of the album is cool but the songs are just bad imo. Most of them are clunky lyrics and just do not sound good. Most of the songs sound like they could have been reworked with diff melodies or lyrics to sound better. The sympathy is a knife remix with Arianna is a great example of how bad this album is. It just sounds so clunky… I have no idea how it’s the highest scored album this year.
I feel like the brat album is an attempt to try and bring back club culture. It’s dancing music for sure.
Your puppy is so cute! Ngl, I miss Oliver and Stella and their shenanigans. 💜
13 MINUTES AGO LETS GOOOOO. I'll be back when I'm doing my makeup tomorrow morning ❤
i recommend putting your hair in pigtails before starting the braid, so you'll have two secured points (at your scalp and the end of the braid), then you can play around with it more to make them thicker but still keep a shape
For the braids, do them tight at first, then loosen them, instead of doing them loose at first. That way, there's some structure to support the fluff. Also, just pull out the very edges. You can look up "pancaking" braids :)
Thin braid girl here; politics make me physically ill as well glowyyy! Sending lovely 💕
Been offline for a few days moving flat and its a joy catching up on Glowmas!
It’s Ray-Gun, not Reagan, because her real name is Rachael Gunn. 🥰❤️🤣
Go off babe, love seeing all of this new content from you!
Ugh just love you so much! So happy you are back!
I find these pop culture takes so interesting because they’re so subjective. You mentioned it when speaking about the Eras tour, but obviously the US/North American perspective is going to be different to in other places. Outside of TikTok a lot of this pop culture stuff (except Eras) wasn’t a thing in Australia.
Side note: we despise Raygun over here.
On the other end of the spectrum, I started my sobriety in June of this year (over 6mo! 🥳) Artists like Charlie xcx and Chappel Roan SAVED my a** 😂 I'm so glad we each found a lane that works for us
I love you, you are fantastic. I love every single video you have put out lately. 🙏🏻💖
How about the eclipse!? That was huge, and rightfully so!
Brat is what Blackout was for us older Millennials back in the day. Love both albums 💚💗
You are hilarious 🤣🤣🤣🤣 I love this video, it is like watching a friend joke around about this shit of a year 2024 lol
I'm not even a fan of electric auto tune music but brat was IMO objectively a great album.
Thank you for bringing some of the lighter moments of the year to mind. Yes, we are all looking for distractions!
Smokeyyy I think brat is the first time I’ve ever disagreed w you in five years 😂😂😭😭😭😭 some very serious songs on brat, lots of tributes, “I think about it all the time” and the “girl so confusing remix” w lorde are especially good and lyrically important!
Yeah, the whole "I care about lyrics" is really a take when girl so confusing, i think about it all the time, and i might say something stupid are all ready solid without being verbose.
girl so confusing remix song of the year
@adal.5336 I can see what she meant. even if the songs were about deeper topics, it felt more like a stream of consciousness that a beat was put over rather than a crafted song. Lyricism is more than just theme
@@jlk426 Yes, I understand lyricism and that's a very fair point.
I loved Brat, and was really disappointed by TTPD. And it's okey, people like different music, but GOD was I bullied because I didn't like it at all😅

As a swiftie-I fully agree w you about ttpd. I also agree w you about Brat and felt really out of the loop 😂 the concerts I went to were the opposite of brat (Kacey musgraves, hozier, and asking alexandria), and I had a Chappell roan summer! So I am fully with you on the music stuff!
Dude I’m so enjoying glowmas. I’m so excited for your videos every night
Love you so happy you’re back ❣️❣️❣️❣️
on brat it was a lot of people’s first introduction to hyper pop/a.g cook production and it’s definitely not for everyone i think when most people think of charli they think of her 2010s era mainstream success like boom clap but she’s been a hyperpop girly for a hot second. brat just brough it to the mainstream
I never heard of the Brat Charlie XCX thing, and im on social media quite often! Gotta go look that up😂😂
I feel like rehab is very brat actually
As a Swiftie, thank you for what you said about ttpd! While I did enjoy the album, it did not have the impact that other albums like rise and fall of a Midwest princess, brat, or short n' sweet did
I think the thing with TTPD (and I say this as someone who loves it) is that it hits a lot harder if you know the background, and the general public doesn't, so it didn't have as wide of an impact. like would I have sobbed the first 10 times I listened to loml if I hadn't known the backstory? probably not, I would've just thought it was a good song. I also think she's reached a level in her career where she doesn't necessarily need to attract new listeners to be successful, and so an album can do incredibly well numbers-wise without really reaching non-swifties.
I like to think of it as similar to Speak Now where Speak Now did numbers by virtue of having established a massive fanbase - but had nowhere near as big of an impact as Fearless did even though it’s the better album between the two.
I lost track of this year's trends as national election years always stress me out to the point of temporary amnesia so I appreciate the reminders. Rachel Gunn (RayGun) was hilarious (well not if you were an Australian candidate for their breakdance team). I mean who hasn't gone to a karaoke night feeling I can sing then melodically and hysterically, epic fail? Dr. Gunn (yes she has a PhD) for a short time did in front of the world during the 2024 Olympics Games, but forever on the internet.
This video is just showing me that I am very much not on top of pop culture even a little bit. I have listened to none of the music, heard of none of the celebrity drama, I forgot about the olympics. I'm over here being a gremlin and that's about it. Wild. This is what I get for not being on tiktok
“I love planning out my new year and having it all fall apart a month later.”
Relatable
YES Tim Walz!! Thank you for mentioning him!!!
I feel like this was the year Chappel Roan blew up
Just dropping by to say well I cannot watch this video now, it has a high place on my “videos to watch during your lunch break” playlist 🥰
Sad that the list didn't include that we kicked of 2024 with the insanity that was the Glasgow Willy Wonka Experience. Not only was it hilarious but it also said something about what people will do for a quick buck and the gaslighting. Love your videos😀
As a pop culture connoisseur, I am so excited for this!
I'm a long time charli fan and tbh I was surprised that brat got the mainstream attention that it got. I know it's gonna be huge amongst fans because it truly feels her. I'm not trying to sound like a snob but it truly is not something for everyone. I still think the praise and the Grammy nominations is very well deserved 🤷♀️
Same that’s how I feel!
