- Before I begin, I would like to apologize for my 2 month absence from posting videos. I have been preoccupied with other commitments but I can assure you this is just the first of many unique videos to be uploaded in the near future.
In this video NYS&W road freight SU-99 is seen with only ONE locomotive making the Westward trip to Binghamton. In the few years that I have been chasing the NYS&W I have never seen anything quite like this, so I made it a point to document this train to the fullest by chasing it from Oakland, NJ to Hamptonburgh NY. Other than the wind distorting some of the audio, I was relatively pleased with the results from this chase and hope to get trackside again soon! Until then be on the look out for some Pittsburgh Line footage that should be coming out in the next week or so.
On a side note, it is worth noting that the M&NJ has upgraded the track through Warwick, NY and the speed limit is now 25 MPH (hence the train moving faster than a crawl through the center of town). - Авто та транспорт
Awesome Video CSXACe!
I caught this same train at the Hamburg Turnpike crossing in Butler NJ. It's my MUST SEE video since 3 cars almost got hit by this train!
Always is nice seeing one of those SD60's doing the work by herself. Nice catch Bob
Thanks Jack! As I said on a fellow chasers video of the SU-99, these SD60's are definitely serving the railroad well and I'm glad to see that! Last August/September I recall an SU-99 running with 4 SD60's and 110 cars! Needless to say prior to the SD60's 100+ cars required at least 5 locomotives so they certainly can expect a lot out of these locomotives. I have a few videos from railfanning trips to PA that I'll be posting in the coming weeks, caught some neat power. Thanks again, Steve.
Great catch. You videoed in some great locations. Nice early spring train country video.
Great Video Steve. I remember you commented on one of my videos saying "the day the 99 runs with one engine". This was the video of my o scale trains. This is truly a rare occurrence and probably won't happen in a long time.
Thanks Ralph, hopefully we can get out and chase a 99 or do some riverline buffing this week.
Thanks man! I'm glad that I'm not the only one to appreciate the "spring folliage".
That shot from Chester is very reminiscent of the scenery up here south of Apulia Station, NY. Interesting to see a single locomotive hauling this load....those SD's must have some real power to work like that. Great to see you posting again........looking forward to seeing more.....take care, Jack.
Absolutely was a treat to see a lone SD60 on this road freight. Although they seem to be relatively reliable I think it's always a good call to have more than one engine in case of a malfunction anywhere along the line where NYS&W power isn't readily available.
Thanks man! I was going to take a spin up to CH but I had an hour ride home and after three hours of chasing I couldn't convince myself to go up that far haha.
Thanks bud! These are a few of my favorites too!
Thanks bro! After searching the area on Google maps, I can assure you that it was the sU-99 you saw (or its counterpart SU-100 depending on the time/direction). If you do happen to be up in that area again when either train rolls through, Port Jervis offers a station that provides decent lighting for the train at night and you could probably get a video out of that. This summer you guys should definitely come up to chase SU-99, I'll be the chauffeur for the evening ;)
Thanks Rich! Although I've seen shorter than this, I've never seen less than 3 engines on a train under 20 cars. The lone SD60 seemed to handle the train without any problems though as it made excellent time getting to NJT trackage.
i liked all your choices for shooting the video. sparta was
really nice to see
Nice catch and horn salute! This is the only time I know of a single leader.
Thanks Bro! This was something else to see, it certainly was a nice change from the 2-4 SD60's that usually pull this train!
Sweet video man. One SD60? Gotta love that! Wish I coulda chased this one!
Thanks John!
Awesome Video Steve! I believe SU-99 is what I saw a few weeks ago up in Glen Spey, NY. Go figure I was without a camera too.
Awesome video! I caught it up in Campbell Hall
Nice catch with the rare one locomotive SU99!
To be honest I was in disbelief fast myself when I saw it rolling through that fast. Last year the M&NJ (current operators of the Hudson Secondary) put a lot of time and money into replacing the tracks through Warwick so speeds could be increased to 25 MPH. This was the first train I've ever seen through town with the new speed limit.
Nice catch dude!
Thanks man!
Thanks dude!
Thanks Russel! I totally remember commenting that on your video haha I can't believe this actually happened though.
Great stuff. sorry I couldn't be out there with ya.....
That would be fun. I still need to get some NYS&W action on my channel other then 142!
Great chase
Not used to seeing trains going that fast through Warwick.
Thanks man! Glad to see you were able to get out for this one too!
Beautiful American style railroads!!!!Good!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Also, one ditch light is out
