Brel was a pure genious, a vivid artist and a bright human beeing with a big heart. Belgians are so proud of him. It's so great to see another big artist giving life back to his wonderfull work and spreading it in the world now. So, thank you Mister Gordon-Levitt !
Besides, even if you're a french native speaker, you have to listen carefully or you'll miss all the double-meanings of the lyrics. For those who would like to know : "Une valse à 3 temps" translates to "a 3-beats waltz " : it's the dance that takes your breath away, the beginning. "Une valse à 20 ans" is pronounced like "une valse à 20 temps" wich translates to "a 20-beats waltz" but refers to the age of the dancers, 20 years old.
It's an old but thrilling dance. "Une valse à 1000 temps" is pronounced like "une valse a mit le temps", translates to "a 1000-beats waltz" or "a waltz took the time"... "and waited until you are 20 and I'm 20 to give us a romance". "Une valse à 100 ans", wich means that the time has passed but at 100 years old, they still dance together and they took a lifetime to build their romance. It's a love song saying that you can love at any age, even if it's a different love (thrilling, charming, stronger,...) but at the end it's an entire life of love.
Also when you get older the time seems to run faster and faster, so to mimic life, the beat of the song goes faster and faster and stronger and crazier.
I'm a french speaking belgian so sorry for the language mistakes.

Even some French singers can't sing this song like he's singing it ! JGL ne cessera jamais de m'étonner. Bravo

Great performance and nice voice, thumbs up!
The lyrics are really hard to learn and he knows them perfectly, which is quite amazing!
And his French is really well-pronounced!
Bravo Joseph, je suis impressionné! Et quel choix de chanson intelligent (Jacques Brel)!

Wow... French is my native language, and I ... just cant describe. The accent is just perfect... just like the way he sings... I'd like to see that while being in the crowd with the public.

I have no clue what he's singing about, but it does not matter because his dimples and smile make me melt...*le sigh*

It's a French Jacques Brel song, titled (in English): "Carousel." He sings that he's on a carousel, a crazy carousel. It's hard to sing in English; the words fly by so fast at the end of the song. I don't think the people in the audience were clear as to just how difficult this song is to perform in any language, much less French, and how extremely talented he is as singer as well as actor.

C'est bien la première fois que je trouve le français sexy! En plus, il s'attaque à Brel, c'est pas n'importe qui! =)
