I've been listening to the latest multi-effect demos through phones and to my ears the Trident sounds much more analog than most of the contenders and way less digital plastic even though I know it is 100% digital. Much more pleasing to the ear.
I think the Nux Trident is great, amp sounds are to my ear better than the Pod go. You don't get amp/ir/fx paralysis from being overwhelmed with excessive features which you would never need.....the only down side is the screen, if your standing you can't see it except the number patch. Very happy with my purchase. It would be interesting to have a sound shootout against some of the more expensive modelers to see how it fairs...
Sounds great! Perfect middle ground between the Boss ME-90 and the Valeton GP-200 for the budget-minded. Only oversight is they didn’t include an expression pedal.
@@gatogrunon481 That’s a fair point, especially if the expression pedal has too much play or is plasticky. How do you like the NUX unit so far? I’m still debating whether I’m just going to stick with pedals or dip my toe in the water with one of these budget-friendly units.
It looks pretty good, but I'd like to see it against a Boss ME-90. Some of the sounds are great, but there's no expression pedal. And when you tried the uni-vibe, it didn't sound like it was on?
I don't think the Sweep in the Wah's works like you think it does. You should drag the actual wah pedal with your cursor. The sweep setting is probably just a eq control for the wah pedal.
At least from what I heard from the demos, I prefer the sounds of the drive and reverb effects of the NUX but the Valeton’s tones weren’t that far behind. I think that the real winner for the Valeton is the interface, expression pedal and cost. The Valeton is cheaper and does everything the NUX does. I could have still favored the NUX if it had the expression pedal but you have to buy that separately and it is one more thing to carry, which defeats the purpose of an all-in-one unit. I’d go with the Valeton if you want something with a screen interface. If not, the Boss ME-90 is cool because it is more like an analog pedal board in one unit. The downside to the Boss is that because it uses all knobs it’s hard to know what you saved as settings when you save certain patches to memory. There are also some limitations on the Boss with things like drive stacking because of the interface and some of the effects are a little basic with how much you can edit parameters. For example, the reverbs on the Boss ME-90 seem a bit limited in how you can shape them and as that is one of my favorite effects I like to be able to create many different variations.
Its got no Volume/Expression Pedal with the amount of options available now I would get something complete with Expression Pedal , missing out on Wah and Whammy.
Can this unit be usedwith an amplifier, effects loop, power amp in and direct into the guitar input. I currently have an MX5 but would like to have more knobs as a factor of control as well. Thanks for the video demonstration.
Good demo to a point. Maybe substitute some of the waffle with an explanation of how you save and assign newly created sounds to a chosen patch? And on that note, how many patches can you have on the unit's main first bank before you have to move up to the next bank?? Also whats it like in front of an amp in the main front chain?? Simple important information guys???
All nice fluff, for sure, but what about responsiveness and feel? I have yet to find such a digital box that doesn’t make me feel like there‘s a condom between what I play and what comes out the other end. ToneX Pedal gets closer to the real thing, as does the new Two Notes Opus, but they are different animals, of course.

I had a NUX chorus pedal a few years ago, and it was garbage. That one experience has coloured my judgement, and I think of NUX as low price, low quality, don't-waste-my-money brand.
trident is built like a tank. watch tony mckenzie's review. nux amp academy is also quality build. their cheap copy pedals from back in the day aren't, but these are.
I have the NUX MG30 and do not understand why NUX came out with the Trident, there are too many knobs on the Trident and the display is a step backwards,it does sound good but NUX should have upgraded the MG30 to a new model maybe a MG40 with DSP chip upgrades and more footswitches,XLR outputs, more and improved Amp and Cab models? The color display on the MG30 is much better then the Trident and is also easy to navigate!
There are certain small group of people, like me, are not really into big color screens, either with touch function or not. These big screens doesn't really bring much value on better tone, easy usage (if you are a sophisticated multi-effect player), but just brings much more power consumption (less friendly when runnning with lithium battery) and generates more heat. I have seen such kind of big screen multi-effect crashed on stage due to over-heat, very rare case though, but still some people just don't need a feature which doesn't bring much value but just more risk to their performance.
I questioned myself why Trident came later than MG30 but Nux decided to give it a small screen! Fortunately Trident has editor software, maybe this induces to save cost on Trident's screen?
It murders everything its trying to emulate, not for me ta! it'll never be able to punch through a mix live or in a proper recoding likewise...sounded cluttered and either muddy or will tinny twang a decent guitar trying to breathe in most settings, there's lot's of better options around it's price and less already available all around us.
say "as well" more... no please...i dont think you say it often in enough in this video. 27 times isn't nearly enough is it??? wtf is this? the new youtuber catchphrase?
The digital John and dgentleman Ben intros always get a laugh out of me, never gets old 😂

I use mine XLR to the PA and another out to the return of my Peavy Studio Pro 112 .....sounds amazing

Maybe vs. the NUX MG-30? 😁

Do you think the GP 200 is better than the Nux? I will buy one of this Pedals.
I actually Bought it because it doesn’t have the expression pedal. I have the MG30 as well and in live situations I hit the flimsy pedal by mistake
@@gatogrunon481 sorry im from Germany. I did not Inderstand your last set. Do you mean its better i buy the valeton? Thanks

How does this stack up against the Boss ME-90?
Valetron GP-200 vs NUX Trident which is best?
How does this compare to the Valetron GP-200JR- that I purchased from Andertons last week ????
Great review Lads 👍🏻

When will we get a Digital John Chapman signature guitar,a Digital John Victory amp and a Digital John drive pedal? Just asking for a friend 🫢
Does nux trident have stereo effects? I can't figure out if there are stereo effects
Great video guys!
Andertons,
Please, please, please compare the BOSS ME-90 with the NUX Trident.
Thanks,

I agree to all you've said!
Please do a review on MG30
SOUNDS FREAKINNN GREATT
Might seem a dumb question but, when you plug these multieffects into an amplifier do you just have the clean channel set on the amp?
Yup, assuming you don't want any coloration on the tone from the unit.
It sounds better through the effects loop return for a more pure signal. It won’t be colored by the preamp section.
Nit picking for sounds great visually the black body with all orange decals looks odd. Prefer another color for some decals silver or white maybe 😁
Power supply compatable for the US?
Yes, it also has adaptors for abroad
Nice interface for the MG30 backend but don't think I will upgrade.
How different from 80’s and 90s multi fx is this? Zoom, Boss etc

Can it used for bass guitar???
Never met such a digital guy
when are you guys going to try the nux amp academy. its had quite a few updates since release.
Can you stack FX on this? Have 2 delays on at once for example?
Nope
You had me at Pete Thorn
Nuck Nuck NUX
this? or the valeton gp200?
GP 200 all day ... More functionality, better models, easier UI, big colour screen, cheaper...
Trident, but the display screen is lacking

in my experience, most of the NUX gear is worth its money soundwise but the build quality is not that great at all even for cheap pedals..cheers 🎸🎸

It's $449.00 in the US.

MG30 not available in the UK?
I think the trident sounds great, but are absolutely right about the display, that is a downside.

Don't let the app visuals fool you, it can't output the goodies its displaying via the app graphics.
It doesn't have a looper.
Every skip that I did, all I can hear was "yeah."
The new Boss IR 2 totally destroys it where it matters and its at a much better price point also.
This s absurd using custom lp with friedman

I can give you another annoying catchphrase. Angela Petrelli on Norman's rare guitars. Constantly uses the word beautiful to describe a guitar 🤝
lol yea it got annoying
Can this unit control the Tonex via MIDI?
